  1. It would be similarly amusing to see people with McDonnell-Douglass [sic] signs wandering around looking for a company that doesn't exist anymore. Northrup Grumman! I meant Northrup Grumman! Yeah. And I spelled it right, too.
  2. Ha! I just KNEW there was a reason why my favorite American foods are Chinese and Italian. Washed down with Guinness, of course.
  3. Attaboy. You go ahead and spread your toast with them.
  4. RonD1120 paid taxes when he worked to support his Medicare. RonD1120 is not able to complete his reassignment in the VA medical system. He is on a waiting list. Why is that? Do you think maybe too much money is being diverted for illegal immigrant welfare? No, Ron. I think too much money is being diverted to sending trillions of dollars in military hardware and operations halfway around the world so that we can provide the security umbrellas for all the other countries so that THEIR citizens can have the universal national health care systems. You see the stupid fuckers and their moronic signs in all the pictures in the news? They're too bamboozled by the Kool-Aid to realize that the places at which they really should be demonstrating are outside military bases, McDonnell-Douglass and Dick Cheney's house. The citizens of Western Europe, Australia/NZ and Japan thank you - you personally, for it's your money - for your subsidy. And Dick just laughs at us all, including you.
  5. I've heard some suggest a tersh system where the "second reserve" has a single-point-of-attachment, has no pilot chute and is hand-deployed (thus no 2nd cutaway decision tree) similar to a paraglider reserve. Just added aerodynamic deceleration. I'd be interested in hearing your (and others', especially other riggers' or highly experienced jumpers with a long time in the sport) well-considered opinion of that. (Obviously requires thinking outside the current "box".)
  6. No doubt. So tell us the ones you don't get.
  7. To be fair, there are also businesses and restaurants that haven't banned guns from their premises that have been robbed by armed robbers. To be further fair, these businesses haven't banned themselves from having guns on the premises, just the total strangers who walk into their stores.
  8. I clearly remember back in the 70's when there were a number of very ugly demonstrations and incidents to protest the Boston school district's plan to de-segregate the student body by bussing students to schools outside their neighborhoods. It was really awful. This reminded me very much of that.
  9. It might help if you can somehow tie your anti-tax beliefs with Catholic liturgy. I was going to answer "it won't go anywhere", but you raise a good caveat.
  10. I still can't figure out how that works. Rich: "Sherry, I'm resigning." Sherry: "I won't accept your resignation." Rich: "Ok, I quit." End of story Under Bylaws Article III, the resignation of any USPA Director's resignation shall be tendered to the BOD. (No provision for approval or rejection, either by the President or the BOD. Also no express provision for the resignation to necessarily need to be in writing.) Under Article IV, the resignation of any officer shall be tendered to the BOD and may be voted on by the BOD at any regular or special meeting. Unless what he was resigning was his cmmt chairmanship. In which case, Sherry, as President is the sole arbiter. Under the by-laws the President has all authority on appointing or removing cmmt chairs. Ah, ok, I'll take that, if it applies. But then, of course, that returns us to Chuck's point.
  11. ^This. So I have been right since 2008 when I started promoting them.. and paid the price (esp at nagambie Australia) But its nice to be right! Will be as common as AAD in a few years !! I don't know any of the parties in your situation, Greg. But my 50+ years experience in life is that when people get ostracized as you claim to have been, sometimes it is because the person is a rabble-rouser, but other times it's mainly because they're just an intolerable asshole with dysfunctional social skills. Just a general observation.
  12. Although I'd advise any DZO to conduct criminal records checks of any prospective employees or contractors (especially those with close customer interaction), I still haven't seen you make a persuasive case that "sex offender TIs" is a significant problem that needs to be addressed... or that failure to "address" it formally will likely lead to a significant problem in the industry.

  14. Under Article III, a Director may be "removed for cause by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any BOD meeting" provided there has been advance notice in the meeting's agenda. That appears to be the only means to involuntarily remove a Director. There appears to be no provision for involuntarily removing an officer from office only; in order to do so, the officer would have to be impeached and removed as a Director by the BOD as per above.

  16. Of course you can. Which is to say, if you take your complaint down to the Federal courthouse and pay the necessary filing and service of process fees, the court clerk will file your complaint and assign the case a docket number, and the US Marshall service will serve the complaint on the IRS.

  18. Those who dangle their participles, and those who don't.
  19. I'm sympathetic to your point. But to play devil's advocate, that's the problem which historically has been faced by ALL ex-cons convicted of just about ALL crimes since the advent of "permanent criminal records": the criminal record follows the ex-offender for the rest of his life, making prospective employers less willing to hire him, leading to the vicious cycle you note.
  20. Hobby Lobby's hypocrisy: its retirement plan invests in contraception products and drugs used in abortion. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/04/hobby-lobby-retirement-plan-invested-emergency-contraception-and-abortion-drug-makers
