Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's
Andy9o8 replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
If the grand jury finds no reason to continue, the local Democrats will use that as an excuse to riot yet again I hear the riots actually were secretly planned and coordinated at the Democratic National Committee, but this didn't come to light until you broke the story. My hat's off to you; you're quite the sleuth. -
Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's

Grand jury leaks tend to be fairly rare; and when they do occasionally occur, they're usually investigated pretty vigorously, with an eye toward the punitive. The deterrent effect of that is what keeps them fairly rare. -
We Are to Judge the Left Based on Their Intentions

Given a choice between my money feeding a bum in my country or lining Hamid Karzai's pocket I'll choose the wino every time. -
If she runs...will Hillary Clinton become the next president?
Andy9o8 replied to Dantes's topic in Speakers Corner
It's almost always been done that way. That being said, I share your dismay. My wife is a highly educated professional, and has long preached it being high time for a woman president. In principle I agree. She is energized by Hillary's high intelligence and apparent viability, so I stay out of her way when she champions Hillary. Me, I want a Democrat to appoint SCOTUS justices. I realize political nepotism will always exist, but it still bugs me. So if the white house winds up being controlled by the same 2 families for 24 or 28 years of a single generation, the endless nepotism part of that will be disappointing. -
Yeah, I figured you might try to give that word a good wanking when I typed it. Thanks for not disappointing; a rapier-sharp rebuttal, that was.

I don't believe that for even an instant of an instant. You denounced your neighbor to authorities in the hope of reaching out and hurting him out of pure personal animus.

Agian the tolerance of liberalism on display I know it's a waste of time to engage you Marc, but in the adult world, repeatedly barfing out "liberal this" and "liberal that", over and over again, is not discourse, it's not even conversation, it's just the kid in the back of the 6th grade classroom barking like a dog. Whatever, man.

I'm curious - did your instructors give you any further or more specific advice other "relax", "calm down", etc.?

The first Liz would have seceded Salmond's head. At last back in the day the English understood that they pissed the provinces off.

Riots over a shoting turn into free jordans and 40's
Andy9o8 replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
Google it yourself. It's a colloquial term for police station; and it's not exclusive to North American usage English. It's also a common term for stores where LEOs go to purchase police-related gear. For example, many FOP offices also have cop shops located under the same roof... that are called "the cop shop" (not unlike the gear stores that are located on many DZs). My own search failed to turn up any presumption that the term is considered derogatory. -
It's a reference to your use of that number in post #56.

Che Guevara, the Communist revolutionary, was an avid motorcyclist. So, as I understand it, are you. Shirley, you see the connection.

The Slippery Slope Begins - Is U.S. Policy on Fighting ISIS Already Changing?

Like it? No. Watch it? Yes. Why? Because 30 years ago most of the knuckle dragging moronosphere wouldn't be caught dead watching an (ostensible) "news" program on TV. Fox has successfully tapped into that. And for that vision and business and marketing acumen, they are to be congratulated.
-
No he didn't. He said, "I recall arming the Taliban."

And yet the English still manage to piss them off. For the life of me I can't imagine why.

WalMart's New Dress Code/Uniform - Fair or Unfair to Employees?
Andy9o8 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm sorry, who is that one directed at, I'm at a loss as to which of the 50 or so posters this applies to Hey, if Jerry says he doesn't think Ron was trying to put words into his mouth right after Jerry quite specifically asked Ron not to put words into his mouth, I'll defer to Jerry on that. Until then, I stand pat. -
WalMart's New Dress Code/Uniform - Fair or Unfair to Employees?
Andy9o8 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
That's the second time you've twisted Jerry's words. This time clearly you're deliberately trying to provoke him to anger- as is your typical pattern on this forum. You owe him an apology. -
Yeah, I'll grant you that. Remember back when Lebanon was in flames for over a decade in its civil war, and there were multi-dozens of warring factions, and factions of factions, all within a 30 mile radius of Beirut? Reminds me of that.

WalMart's New Dress Code/Uniform - Fair or Unfair to Employees?
Andy9o8 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
The 10% off is part of the standard "associate" discount. It has nothing to do with the uniforms or douche. You clearly missed his point; maybe re-read the entirety of his post. BTW, "douche" means "shower". In doing this, WalMart is essentially giving its employees a golden shower. Apologies for the image. -
WalMart's New Dress Code/Uniform - Fair or Unfair to Employees?
Andy9o8 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
That wasn't the only point. Among other things, it was, like most of the Gospel, a reminder to always maintain one's moral compass notwithstanding secular concerns. -

I'd agree with that. Heck, I'd even add Standard Oil and United Fruit Company to that list. Provided, of course, that they're all viewed in complete historical perspective. There is business and there is ethics. At its core, the Roman Empire of Caesar (as with most empires) was all about business. And at its core, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was all about ethics. Are you admitting to preferring to render unto Caesar that which is more properly rendered unto God?
