  1. "Did you ever kill anyone?" "Yes, but they were all bad." It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  2. Fat Tire It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  3. "Chicks dig me because I seldom wear underwear, and when I do, it's usually something unusual." Bill Murray - Stripes It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  4. True, true. I guess that's why I posted in the first place. I have learned from reading posts, if nothing else, dz.commers are very honest. At least if they know you can't find them and kick their asses. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  5. I think his attitude was wrong in the first place...but why were you still pissed if the guy was trying to apologize? It sounds like you were dragging this on. It's kind of low class not to accept an apology in general, especially over something so trivial, don't you think? You each apologized to each other and it doesn't sound like either of you accepted it. You seem like a decent guy, but not having been there and heard or seen the whole exchange, who knows... Interesting that you brought this up. Notice I said "somewhat tried to apologize." This was when he dragged my wife into it and when I asked him if that was an apology his response was, "I don't think I should have too." He then walked away and sat on the sofa behind me. I then went to him, said, "I can man-up," and offered my hand. He shook it and that was pretty much the end of conversation. There is plenty more involved in this, but other than the basics that I intially provided it all seems like a smear. I'm pretty sure that those involved don't post here but it doesn't seem worth it to provide more info. Naturally, being an asshole, I'm going to defend myself. I was just curious if the back to back loads was out of line considering the circumstances? It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  6. As I travel around I notice that my small town has some of the highest fuel prices around the midwest. Interestingly, we have a fuel producing refinery locally. Fuel trucks leave the facility and drive to the other end of town and fill the tanks at local gas stations. Can anyone explain our higher prices? It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  7. Only if her name is Flo. S**t, I think I just dated myself. When I was pursuing my higher education(read into that what you will) I had a friend that worked in a very high class restaurant. He was buying his home, had nice cars and his wife was able to stay at home and take care of their kids. So, if she's making that kind of money, grab on, it'll leave you more money for jumps. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  8. Thanks Squeak. Just wondering though. Since you're downunder, should I change the text too read, "tomorrow at our little 182 dz?" It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  9. Opinions please. Today at our little 182 dz I jumped back to back loads. I got on manifest when I came in as I had one rig packed. I proceeded to pack my other rig and when done noticed that there was an open slot on a tandem with video load. I asked the manifestor(also the DZO's wife) if I could have it and she said yes since no one else was packed or had signed up. The video guy and tandem master were already gearing up. I went out first to work on a sitfly and when I got down ran to the hangar and changed into my RW suit. As we were heading for the plane, which didn't have to wait, one of the other jumpers asked me if I hadn't just been on the previous load. I said yes and when he asked why I was on this one I told him because I had two rigs. He said that didn't matter that I should wait to be on the ground, then manifest(keep in mind, no one was ready for the previous load). He seemed a little pissed so I just said sorry, it won't happen again(OK, I didn't just say it, there was a little heat behind it). For those of you who jump 182's, you'll realize I now had about 25 minutes to work up a good steam. Once on the ground I talked with manifest and she didn't have a problem, nor did the DZO. When the DZO came over to explain the problem the guy acted like there wasn't one and said all I had to say was, there was a slot open and no one wanted it, not that "I have two rigs." It turned into somewhat of a pissing contest and my wife(bless her heart) got a little vocal. At this point the whole argument of what I said about having two rigs opposed to no one wanting or being ready for the slot seems like semantics to me. Later. the guy somewhat tried to apologize and I told him I was pissed. He then started to drag my wife into it at which point I just said, "we need to just drop this now," and he said OK. The funny thing about it all, this guy approached me when another jumper, who loves to chase tandems but wasn't packed, mentioned it to the guy who came to me. However, when the argument started, guy one quietly sat in the corner and kept quiet. OK, I realize none of you know me and I have dragged this out, blah, blah, blah. Was I wrong, an asshole or is this just a ration of S**T? It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  10. Sounds like a dog in cats clothing. But what do I know? I have two cats that like to play "fetch." It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  11. Go ahead and send the order. Very seldom have I heard a jumper say, " wow, my new rig(canopy, jumpsuit, etc) arrived exactly when they said it would." Seems like all custom stuff is 6-12 weeks behind schedule. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

I'm thinking maybe he's tried this before, with his knob, and it didn't work out so well. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  13. Exactly. To quote one of my favorite movie lines, "I'm disgusted and repulsed and, and I can't look away." It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  14. I've always had dogs and several breeds and mutts. Best ever though was my Ridgeback. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  15. Since I can't jump today due to a raging sinus infection I figure I'll watch a good crime movie. Any thoughts? It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  16. When this bill was first introduced I wrote all of the congressmen and senators from my state(KS), even those not representing my district. Each one sent a letter back telling me that they were not in favor of this bill. Join AOPA, even it you're not a pilot or owner. It doesn't cost that much and it gives them just that much more money to lobby with. This is not a paid advertisement.
  17. I played serious golf for about 20 years. Then my wife got me a tandem skydive for my birthday. My buddies and I used to go to a large golf tournament every year. Then last year when they asked if I was going I said I'd go play the practice round but sit out the three days of tourney play. In the meantime I had learned that the plane that flew over the golf course about 20 times per day was a jump plane. So now, they play golf and I go jumping. Now I ask myself that same question. Golf, what's that all about? It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  18. Just about any competition you see at a Scottish Highland games should make the top. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  19. I surely would if I could. We are having the proverbial "when it rains, it pours." Just coming out of a drought here too. Getting good rain in April then two weekends ago 6+". Then Wednesday night another 5+". All those heavy rains with several days in between. I did get my wish though. Woke to blue skies. Now, if we can just get the wind to drop below 30mph. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  20. If I see one more f-in' drop of rain I'm going to open the gun safe and start at the post office. (deep breath) OK. Now that I got that off my chest, I need help with the rest of the weekend. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  21. SDD(actually in Whitewright, TX) is about the same drive from Dallas as Eloy is from Phoenix. Both towns where the dz's run are small communities. SDD is the friendliest dz I've ever jumped. They are about 6.5 hours south of me and we try to head down every 5-6 weeks. Otter and Caravan. I live in KS and can say the weather in Dallas is similar overall. A little warmer in winter so more ice than snow in TX. It can and does get windy. Basically you learn to jump when it's cold if you want to jump at all. I've only been to Eloy in the winter. Awesome weather then though. We get 100+ jumping days regularly in KS too in the summer. As far as I'm concerned, hot is hot. I do know turbines get to 13.5 faster than C182's get to 10K so factor that in. Oh, and they're roomier too. That's what I can tell about the dz's. As far as the two cities go, I'm pretty clueless. All I can say is. I've travelled to many large cities and they all are hectic and busy. That's my 2 cents(will more like a nickel). Oh, Eloy has the tunnel. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
  22. Funny I just ran across this post. I just finished telling my wife about you and how your wife packs for you and has her riggers ticket. She didn't take it so well. Looks like next weekend might be a :0:0 It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

  24. QuoteWell, about 10 days ago I posted an ad that i was looking for an older cypres. ---------------------------- I haven't read every post here so if I cover something already posted forgive me. I had a similar problem about 8-10 months ago with a canopy. Did all I could to verify the guy existed, etc. I contacted my attorney after a few weeks and he had me contact the FBI because it was interstate fraud. FBI referred me to a website to file the complaint. I also talked with a friend from the local police department and filed a report. I had contacted the dz this guy jumped at and they contacted him and also got me a different phone number, he had quit answer messages on the one he gave me originally. Long story short, when my friend from the PD contacted him I got my canopy overnight. This after everyone else being told, "I shipped it last Wednesday" for 3-4 weeks straight. I even went back to the website and and pulled the complaint after I received it. Amazing how fast he responded once the cops got involved. Good Luck. http://www.ic3.gov/media/annualreports.aspx This is the site to file the complain. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

    Holy Smoke!

You're more than welcome to have ours. 6+ inches last weekend alone and it was raining most of the week prior and a little everyday since. They finally got a few loads up last night. ANd I guess I shouldn't complain, we didn't have the devastating tornadoes here that they had just a few miles west of here. Sun, we need sun. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
