  1. Damn, I'm only 46% of an asshole. Looks like I need to stop helping grandmas cross the road.
  2. That advise sounds a lot better, and safer, than some of the stuff I've been told!
  3. Hey, thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I do have a racer, which I know is not very freefly friendly. I just ordered a G4 though and should be here soon. I've tried a few of the things you told me and have been able to get stable for only about 4 - 8 seconds at a time, which is cool because its slowly coming to me. Most of the time though, when I'm not doing RW jumps, I'll work on my sit. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done with that. Thanks again for the advise and take care.
  4. I guess that it really depends upon the jumper himself. If the jumper is irresponsible and dangerous under canopy or can't control himself, then the jumper obviously doesn't belong in the swooping crowd. Although, if you have a jumper who is very comfortable and knows a little about how a canopy will perform to low alt. inputs, then I believe it is all good. I also believe that like anything else, you need to take it slow and not rush into it. Starting off with slow 90 degree turns then working your way up to quicker 90s, then so on. Its all about your comfort level as well as knowledge of that canopy's performance.
  5. Right on! Too bad you weren't on my last load. We were all planning a nice fun little four way, everyone had the jump down and everything was good, well almost. Well, we finally opened the door and began to climb out, me being rear float. All of a sudden I felt this thing slapping me on the neck and I was thinking to myself what is goin on here. I reached up and found that my chin strap wasn't buckled. So I'm trying to buckle this thing with one hand while waiting for the count. Just then they all left, and I'm still there chillin. I finally go and continued to buckle this thing while in freefall. When I got it, I turned and saw the formation way down there and a ways off. Once I got there, it was time to break. That was such a fun jump!
  6. Before I turned 18, I used to pack at the DZ all the time. At the end of the day, you can deffinately feel it but you still walk off with some pretty diecent cash assuming you packed all day. It wasn't too bad because your still hangin with the jumpers at the DZ and having a good time afterwards. Now I mostly jump, but I still find some time pack and make some cash. Helps for when your short on money but have that "I gotta jump" syndrome like I have.
  7. I've heard so much about how ppl just love there Spectre and also there Sabre. Which canopy is better all around and whats the difference in performance.
  8. I too have been packing since thirteen and had no problem with being allowed to pack anyone's rig. When I began packing tandoms or student gear, I had to be watched a few times to make sure that I was packing them properly.
  9. What about the Spectre. I've heard nothing but good things about that canopy.
  10. That picture cracks me up. Nearly rolled over in my chair. Someone in my shop brought that same picture in with a caption under it that said " God kills a kitten every time you masturbate." In the picture, there where two pink monters chasing the kitten that you see in your pic.
  11. Ok, my bad. It wasn't rear risers that I meant. What I meant was swooping with the steering lines. I've tried it a few times with 90 degree turns and have noticed that the canopy will swoop alittle. I am taking this slowly and will remain to play it safe so that I wont be a statistic. Thanks for all the advise.
  12. I've been introduced to freeflying when I had around 25 jumps. Off and on, I've been trying to get into freeflying because it looks like so much fun on all these videos. I have a very stable sit and stand down now but I can't get into a head down for anything. I've heard that if you go into a stand than cartwheel into a head down it would be a lot easier because of the build up of speed. I tried that and still corked every time. I've tried both leg positions and keep my arms slightly bent inward as I'm told that helps keep your back straight. What advise can you guys hook me up with to get me flying?
  13. I am just now begining to swoop my canopy (tomcat 150 @ 1.33 wing loading) and am wondering why it is done with the front risers. I've been told by my father (who I got the canopy from) that the front riser turns on that particular canopy where not that great and told me that rear riser turns would work just fine. Whats the difference between the two, and what advise can be given dealing with rear riser swooping. Thanks.

    Falcon

For a first canopy this is not a bad deal. I began jumping my falcon 175 after 40 jumps and loved it. It performed very well in the sky and was very fun to fly. Compared to those huge student status canopies, this canopy flies a little quicker and performs alittle more agressively but still remains to be very forgiving. My exit weight is about 195 lbs. and exceeded the max. weight limit on that canopy by about 20 lbs. For me, the landings where a little hard. Although, in 10 - 15 mhp winds, I've had some of the best landings I had ever had with that canopy. Overall, I was very pleased with the canopy and had a lot of fun while jumping it.
