Windtunnel at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies
tunnelfly replied to tunnelfly's topic in Wind Tunnels
Did anyone see it? I only saw a short part with a skysurfer, but that looked awesome. Can't wait to see the repeat... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity... -

There's not much "nearby". I'ts either in the Genting Complex itself, or in KL (which is about one hour drive from Genting). You can get rooms in Genting from around US$30, but you have to avoid the weekends. You can find cheaper places in KL, but if you fly on more than one day, it's worth to stay in Genting. Get in touch with the guys at the tunnel, they should be able to help you. Anyway, enjoy your trip to Genting, it'll be fun... Interresting competition... only one question: Rules say:...named correctly. Is that the current names or the names at the time of filming? Greetings from Perú No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

I guess he wanted to say that the price of bulk time just covers the costs and leaves no profit. And, I think it's wrong to say that it's not skydivers that pay the bills (even at SVO). I can't imagine a tunnel owner selling tunnel time at a lossy rate... Editing: ...and if they do, I guess they call it "marketing" (i.e. British World Team participants at Bodyflight Bedford) No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

I haven't seen it myself, but while I was working on the Egyptian Military Tunnel, I was told that they have a canopy simulator on the base as well... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

Not that I know of, but I heard in the dark ages they used similar torturing techniques.. No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

I doubt, there's gonna be a price war, as long as they are fully booked. But I'm guessing that Aerokart Paris would have to lower the prices to keep some business... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

If you refering to the thingy in the first attachement, I have to disappoint you. The tunnel is currently located at a holiday resort in Kyongju. Although it was operational during the summer, they suspended it and packed it up about 3 weeks ago, because of the lack of customers during the cold season. I was there one week ago to build in and test a new clutch, but we opened it only as much as needed to run the prop, not enough to actually fly. Back to the costume topic: I would also choose the ghost costume. It's the easiest to make, especially since you have less then a week left. Hope, the BOOgie will be a success, and I expect pics on your site soon after... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

Obviously, I wanted to attend as a burning matchstick... but then I read the "No Fire, Sparks or Flames" on the bottom of the ad, so i won't come (I'm still too busy in Korea, anyway). If your Batgirl costume is too tight, what about the Michelin Man? No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

The worlds best wind tunnel is the one next door to your home, where they know you well and, even on a fully booked day, you can just show up after work and they manage to squeeze you in for a couple of rotations. But if you are just talking about size, speed, smoothness and convenience, you probably have to go to bedford. No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

The waiting is over! - The worlds largest tunnel is flying

Congrats !!! Looks like Bernd loves it in there. But I've never seen him so small in a tunnel !!! I'm on the way.... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity... -
Google Earth Placemarks of windtunnels around the world. Many are clearly visible. I think there's even someone flying in the swiss tunnel (wearing a blue tunnel suit). No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

Thanks again!!! It really looks awesome, what you can do in this tunnel. I can't wait to come over and fly with you. BTW it only took me 8 minutes to download the zip. So your uplink is not too bad, after all... No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

Genting SkyVenture is a BLAST, even though they have the old systen and the air is thin on this mountain. But it's still too far away, and the mobile unit in Korea won't reopen before July. I'm ... GROUNDED!!! No.1 reason NOT to be an astronaut: ...You can't drink beer at zero gravity...

Ok Dawn, next time I link the IMAGES page (the Euphoria page is WAY too noisy). And Paige, what would you do if your employer sends you to Changchun (China), far away from any windtunnel or dropzone? Internet-Flying is the only option here! I'm fully aware that the chinese invented parachuting (1306 A.D., when Fu-Chien became emperor), but they seem to have forgotten all about it...
