  1. Has there been a final word on jump costs? _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  2. I'm debating the same thing. I live in Columbia, MO and plan to go to the Dublin Boogie and then florida. Haven't desided on the travel arangments as of yet. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  3. Well, my sister is getting maried in Turkey in 2 weeks and of course I have to go. Does anyone know of any dropzones that will be open this time of year? I'll be in Istanbul and Eregli areas along the Black Sea. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?

  5. First 15 second delay on Jump 9 from bad body position. Then again on jump 23 was a total from someone packing a knot for a pilotchute. Student status was rough _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  6. PhreeZone said it well. Get use to that sound if you plan to stick around the sport for awhile. I heard it twice. Both times my own leg First was out a high window running away from a girls father when I was 14. That one was much like the video. The second was on a bad landing under bad circumstances. You just move on. Bones heal, internal organs don't. Think before you do something stupid _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  7. I have a Wings with a Cordura pouch and it works great. I see no negative effects as long as you pack the pc correctly. I pack my pc like Brian Germain suggests, to prevent a horseshoe mal from a premature opening of the container. My BOC works great in any orientation. Yet I oly have about 20 jumps on this rig. I've also heard good things about Spandura, which is on all the new Sigma Tandem rigs. I don't know from experience but I've heard many early cordura BOCs were designed poorly. It is a personal choice. Some rigs look better with Cordura and others look good with spandex. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  8. I recently acquired a Hornet 150. It has an unknown number of jumps but is estimated to be 300-400. I checked the line lengths against PISA's specs and the outer A lines are 2-2.5 inches shorter than the center lines. I'm not sure How to interpret the Steering line lengths. What is meant by 5 7/8" Above D and 1 1/8' below C? Also do you think 2 inches of shrink on the A lines is too much? _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  9. diablopilot is correct. They are completly differnet canopies. By refined I mean they are similar in platform factor, simi eliptical. The pilot is a better design but simiar _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  10. Hornets went for $1000 new when PISA was still manufaturing them. $750-$850 for 25ish jumps would be a good price. It is a great canopy! Most of my jumps have been on a Hornet and the new Pilot, which is a refined Hornet. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  11. As for most FARs, this is up for interpretation. Things that count for currency may be but are not limited to: packing a reserve, packing a main, assembly, "supervising" others packing/rigging, seminars, sewing, reading an article/forum, etc. If you are at leat a little active in the sport you have nothing to be concerned about. If you "feel" you aren't current, seek help from a current rigger. For further clarification I would ask a DPRE. I would recomment kirk@para-concepts.com _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  12. I may be wrong but a Wings W-12-3 is sized for a 150-170 main with a 170 reserve. I have a Wings W-12-2 and it is cut for a Cobalt 150 and a Smart 160 reserve. I would check with Sunrise to be sure. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  13. Wow there are some sweet looking rigs on here. Keep sending more. Here is my Wings. I took the picture with my cellphone so the quality sucks. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  14. Well said! I might add to that by saying don't try anything new first jump back either. For example last month first jump back after 4-5 months I witnessed a person jump a camera for the first time first jump back and he had gain 15ish pounds over the winter. Not smart He ignored advise from the S&TA and jumped anyway. Luck was on his side this time and all went well, but that isn't always the case. Use caution until you are back in your groove. Be safe! _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  15. I too have been plagued with shoulder sublocations for 10-12 years. My left was always the worst and it happened about every 4 months. I tried all the PT exercises and it never worked well enough. I let it bother me for years before doing anything about it. I recently consulted an orthopedic surgeon and had the shoulder reconstructed with arthroscopic surgery. The Doctor confirmed to me that it was "very" loose. Now many people complain that this is a horrible painful procedure. Well its not. Modern surgical procedures have greatly lessened the pain and recovery time. I was using the arm in a limited capacity again in 2 weeks. I was supposed to be in an immobilizer for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks I started PT and after 12 weeks I was over 90% and jumping again. It has been 5 months now and the shoulder is stronger than it was when I was a teenager. The funny thing is the "good" right shoulder is noticeably weaker than the left. I plan to have that one rebuilt this winter. I haven't had any repeat injures but I'm confident that the chance of injuring that shoulder again has been greatly reduced. I know if I need surgery again it may not go as smooth. The shoulder joint is the weakest joint in the human body. My advice to those with recurrent shoulder problems is to consult an orthopedic surgeon about surgery or other treatments. Left unattended with repeat injury only makes things worse. Better to prevent further injury or the possibility of worse if you lose the use of you arm at an inopportune time. I’m completely happy I had the surgery. If you have to take time off from the sport for awhile do it. It will be around when you come back. Better safe than sorry. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! 16. We'll probably be arriving 10am-noon half asleep from the 18hr drive. We'll get situated and make a couple of jumps to knock the dust off. Do you know approx how many people will be coming besides the million regulars? How many people are in the Riddle Skydiving Club these days? See ya soon _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  17. When does the event kick off on friday? I'm getting so warm inside just thinking about it, the ice has already begun to thaw _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
  18. FLAMES AWAYS Oh Skygod, my jump numbers and wing loading have nothing to do with this. He was looking for comments/views. Of which I provided. Why don't you give him your expert advise instead of flaming the person giving what was asked for. His wingloading is not in question just the canopy MSW. My safety is my concern, thanks. Should I list all my other flying experience, skills and licenses for you to review so I can get your ok to load my canopy at 1.3? _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! 19. I'm not sure if this helps but I've loaded my old hornet 150 20lbs over max and have known others to do the same with hornets and tri's. The thing I noticed is riser presure went up. Though, I've never jumped a ZP before. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?

  22. I'm glad to see you are interested in the Search. It has been the best skydiving investment I have made. I'd go again if I could _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?

  24. Just my .02 cents of help. I have had Eustation tube problems sense Childhood. They were fixed with tubes being placed into my ears, which fall out is a short time. I started jumping a couple of years ago and after my first freefall above 7000 ft I experienced similar problems as you. After repeated jumps that day I had muffled hearing and everything sounded as if I was underwater, which I was inside my ears. I took prednisone, which is a cortisone steroid and isn’t fun for you system. It took over a week to regain normal hearing. I continued to have the same problem but much less severe with frequent jumping. Your body adjusts to some degree. The nuisance factor and concerns about damaging my hearing led me to see an Ear/nose/throat doctor and had my hearing tested. All still good. He put in a semi-permanent t-tube into my eardrums to make pressure equalization and drainage much simpler. It is a quick and cheap (if you don’t have insurance) surgery. I no longer suffer from these problems anymore and jumping is more enjoyable and I feel safer about my hearing. If you continue to have these problems for more than a few hours or days at a time I would highly recommend you consult with an ENT doctor. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! 25. When I got my Hornet 150. I loved it. You can't beat the price. The max service weight for my canopy is 176lb. At that wing loading (1:1.17) it was great. Now after gaining mucho weight I weigh 195 (1:1.3) out the door. Front riser pressure went way up and the turn responce has become more slugish. So I guess that is where they get their limits from. It's not a safety issue. So after all the blabbering, all I'm saying is at 1:1 to 1:15 it flys great. You won't be disapointed at the price. _________________________________________ On the Journey of Life! Want a Ride?
