need some feedback on my Tonysuit design (
Orange1 replied to superman0710's topic in Gear and Rigging
Are you getting a tie-dyed rig to complement that camo? More seriously - camo may be fashionable now, but you may have that jumpsuit a long time - are you sure you won't get tired of it in a few years? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
oh ya and one of those, i think marks and spencers (UK), a pudding which said "do not turn upside down". The warning however was on the bottom, so to read it you would have to... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

How could you leave Lindt out of your choices? Cote D'Or make some good stuff too. ...not a lot in your list that a purist would actually consider "chocolate" ...check the ingredients... and see http://www.rococochocolates.com/campaign.0.html Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Yeah. All those little packets of nuts they give you on the airplanes (er, not the jump planes) also say "contains nuts". Now, it so happens I am allergic to nuts, but even I can figure that one out... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

What album can you listen to without ever getting tired of?
Orange1 replied to Orange1's topic in The Bonfire
Pink Floyd has popped up for half the respondents so far -
yeah but i figured if he is still jumping... i mean, even you and Rob got onto booties eventually so as a matter of interest, when WERE booties invented? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Ayuh... Pearl Jam's Ten should probably have been in that list of mine... [ignoring snide comment about "album", I already admitted I was old] Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
Congratulations, that's awesome Hope I can post something like this in 14 years' time! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Ok, the "song lyrics you have lived" thread bugged me a bit, cos I'm in a really good space but most of the music I like has quite angsty lyrics so it didn't fit. Anyway this got me thinking - as much as I may love some CDs for most of them there is a limit to how many times you can play them before getting tired of them and putting them aside a while. But there are some albums I can listen to over and over and over and over, 5 of which spring to mind immediately (and probably show my age): Pink Floyd - The Wall Nirvana - Nevermind Metallica - The Black Album Offspring - Smash Live - Throwing Copper What are yours? If you've ever been out the sport a while with an injury...
Orange1 replied to Orange1's topic in The Bonfire
xena.. so you sympathise cocheese, hookkit, thanks for the posts. Some great ideas. If nothing else, my upper arms are doing well at the moment and no doubt will continue to when i get onto crutches - i need to keep it up so i can see the difference flying on risers when i start jumping again Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
If you've ever been out the sport a while with an injury...
Orange1 replied to Orange1's topic in The Bonfire
wow... my little left fractured ankle and right tib/fib screws/plate thing seems really mild after that. (as an aside, all my whuffo friends were like "oh god you are so badly injured", all my skydiving friends were like "where are the x-rays?" then the talk turns to inuries like yours that make me feel like i did get off really lightly) i've been thinking about becoming a packer, or doing something else to stay around the DZ and keep in the loop. (when i can walk again, of course). but the 'new perspective on life' thing, even though my accident wasn't nearly as bad as yours, is true. for example: i will never, ever take my legs for granted again and instead of being the lazy sh!t i've been all my life, i will actually start really using them... when i can. i lie awake and think about my first recurrency jump every night before i go to sleep! don't think it will be anything as ambitious as yours though Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
The Clash? Don't remember the band name, early 60's, one hit, but the drummer was Larry Thompson, a local, still occasionally active jumper. The Clash's version was a cover. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Wouldn't eyes farther apart make depth perception better? Dave Dave - I don't think so - isn't this why predators (eg cats) have eyes close together, prey (buck, whatever) at sides of head? I found this an interesting comment - as much as I hate anything that relates to gender stereotyping or the possibity thereof - simply because I do struggle with depth perception; i find it very difficult to judge height close to the ground (often resulting in late flares). OK but... then they've turned everyone into zombies and then what? No more fun? Do they start postwhoring here, like imjured skydivers? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I was watching Dawn of the Dead on TV the other night and wondering the same thing about the zombies. (The movie made it clear they didn't eat animals.) Anyone know??? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

If you've ever been out the sport a while with an injury...
Orange1 replied to Orange1's topic in The Bonfire
LOL!!!! what a classic post! I would do that.... if i COULD pace. Can i do it while sitting on my butt? (yeah, i managed to take both legs out) My only major other previous interest was horseriding which will also be out for a while Apart from that... jeez, what DID i do before i discovered skydiving?? Seems to have been blanked out my memory! So basically from the posts it seems some combination of being drunk and abusing my pankillers will do it Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -

wtf did you DO to keep yourself from going crazy about not being able to jump? It's been less than 3 weeks, if I believe my OS it's another 8 months to go before I can jump, and I am already freaking out. I want to smell the air at altitude, I get depressed when I see emails going out for fun competitions that I would have entered, I love hearing from my buddies how cool their jumps were but am so envious that I can't be there... aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh! help!!!!!! OK then make that video OR live demo i think you know that i was saying Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I also love the "toy" aspect of the pro-track. It was suggested to me when i first got mine (about 30 jumps ago IIRC) that i set the first 2 warnings just below action time (say 200' below) so as not to become 'beep dependent' - so for example my beeps go off just after i turn to track, and as my canopy is deploying, not before i turn or pull. not sure if this is 'recommended' but it works for me - i use my visual and my eyes with the "comfort" of knowing the beep is there just in case. so far my protrack has been far more useful wrt fall rate calcs to figure out what weights to wear in RW dives!
