> Ban all assault weapons?? Were does one go to purchase said Assault Weapon? I have several guns, knives, some PVC pipe, shovel, mop and broom sticks amoung other things but they don't come with such labels. Although any of the above can be used to assualt an individual. Just thinking out loud...does the military have assault weapons? The term I believe began being used in the 1990's by a political party opposed to the Second Amendment, purely to advance a particular political agenda.

> though he should have been in prison?? Well, I for one hold Ollie as an American Hero, certainly not deserving of any prison time but a ticker tap parade

Jason Borne taught me a great many skills in survival, as it turns out I'm not very good at them. And to my little NSA friends, Merry Christmas, hope your day is going well.
-
> Do you believe that crazy people should be free to own guns? No, not at all. I do however feel that law abiding "American" citizens should be allowed to own a weapon. Armed citizens have an opportunity to fire back. Now I might have said to much here, the NSA might be gathering intell on me.

Not true. Gun laws have become laxer and laxer. Hardly. I can't have guns delivered by mail to my house from the Sears catalog, can't import "non-sporting" guns, can't buy a new machine gun, and am subject to much stricter state regulations. "Assualt weapon" ban not renewed. Supreme Court overturns numerous restrictions in NYC and Chicago. CCW forced on Illinois against the will of its residents. Gun show loophole created... Ahhh...the sound of freedom. I was reading your earlier post and I think the laws are not more laxer, they are just not being inforced. My .02 cents

Why do people working at NASA like working at NASA so much?

Why do people working at NASA like working at NASA so much?

It might not be, based on the individual. But isn’t the point of exploration to see what’s out there? Or, like Apollo 16, to see what isn’t there? We’re still exploring the earth and finding new things. “Man must explore.” – David Scott At this very moment 40 years ago, Cernan and Schmitt had awakened from their rest after the final walk on the moon – six hours from liftoff from the moon. Nobody has since been there. We’ve explored a few miles of it and that’s it. The exploration of the moon has allowed us to figure out ways to exploit it. The GRAIL Mission – satellites Ebb and Flow – will be crashed into the moon. They studied the moon’s lumpy gravity field that has the effect of screwing up orbits and crashing satellites. A satellite released by Apollo 16 crashed into the moon a month after it was released. I think exploration is pretty amazing. Within 20 years, all of our Apollo astronauts will be dead. There won’t be anyone around anymore to talk about what it was like. I think we will lose an awful lot when that happens. Just a quick note: I had the oppertunity to work with Gene Cernan during my days with SPACEHAB. Also got his book "The Last Man on the Moon" autographed. One of the escape chutes we used for training I had auto graphed by all the astrounauts including several from Europe, Japan as well as Russian Casmanauts. I then donated the chute to the future USPA Museum, the official handoff was done by Astronaut Joe Tanner. -

> COUNTRY CLUB at the expense of the rest of us Well I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my fellow countrymen for the 25 years of financial support you given me. I hope you find your investment was worth it for some of the great achievements we/I was able to afford you. I'm not able, at this time to reimburse you for your financial sacrifice, but please be comforted that every dollar that came my way was used in support of the children. Thank you Respectfully Submitted, Channman -

Well, as a former Dude that got to take a dip in both pools, WETF / NBL hang out with some cool guys and gals bouncing around in a KC-135 over the Gulf of Mexico, have the oppertunity to be in an EMU (Spacesuit) on several occasions performing 3 Point Tool / Centerline Latch exercises among other awesome stuff, yea it was a more than AWESOME JOB. I learned a damn lot there, such as 3D Modeling using AutoCad then Pro Engineer. Designed and fabricated some really cool stuff that the Astronauts trained on and or used in space. Can't believe I had this opportunity...PEOPLE want believe me if I told them I had this kind of job. I've been involved in several IMAX productions, HOLLYWOOD movies such as Armageddon, Space Cowboys, with my personal photo being in Life Magazine, National Geographic and did I mention Discovery Channel. Hell, man what’s not to like about that job. Did we do any work HELL NO, we were too busy having a blast in Designing new hardware, producing fabrication packages, fabricating, Welding, testing, engineering, attending Preliminary Design Reviews and making every effort to ensure that our few gifted friends that had the opportunity to strap their butt to a Roman candle could do so with somewhat an expectation that we could get them to space and back. WORK we didn't do any work. How in the hell can you be working when you’re having a blast at doing something you LOVE. Merry Christmas -
Union supporters in michigan have anger issues
Channman replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
>Most people would take the benefits and pocket the dues, even if minimal, as well. Good way to kill a union. Think of it this way: imagine a gas station where you can fuel up, then decide if you want to pay or not. If you and most other people choose not to pay, the station will soon close. On the other hand, if you pay but someone else doesn't, then you will be "losing" by subsidizing them. How long do you think that gas station will stay open? Think of it this way: imagine your gas station is America where you can take and take and take and then decide if you want to make any contribution. Now on the other hand, if you make contributions but someone else doesn't, then you will be "losing" by subsidizing them. How long do you think America will stay open? Just asking the question -

Channman replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
And they wonder why the hell they are no longer relevant. Unions can go F themselves...never dealt with more inept High Cost, Low Value groups in my life until leaving NASA and working in the Petro-Chemical field. Needed a electrician to replace some light bulbs...had to wait 3 days to get a job that only took less than 5 min. to complete. These guys are nothing more than Thugs not to mention the large portions of their dues supporting one Political Party. Any idea if the men in this video will see any jail time for assult? -
Thanks, flew IFR and got .8 actual last Tuesday. Flying back into Ellington (KEFD), had the opportunity to catch up with a few Astronauts I work with back in my NBL days that had just landed a head of me. Cheers to Ya, and have a great Holiday.

Hey Republicans - where are the spending cuts?

First step was not to renew my Class II medical to prevent being denied. I meet with Dr. Astrera and doctor Sofie his name misspelled, both world renown specialist in repairing heart valves. Then I got in touch with an old room mate of mine that is a Captain with MGM Resorts who went through cancer treatment and through the FAA process to obtain his Class I. He put me in touch with Art Rosser II with ARMA Research, Inc who represented me in putting a response letter together to the FAA giving legal notification of my pending surgery and intent to reapply for a provisional medical. Most important is to never let a FAA letter requesting information go with-out a response. That can create, additional problems and greatly delay a positive out come. I hade to wait six months post op before I could begin the process with the FAA. They send you a letter giving you a list of necessary test that need to be performed so the can determine if you meet the standards for Special Issuance under Title 14 of the CFRs, Section 67.401.

President Wants to Take Control of Debt Ceiling
Channman replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner

Hey Republicans - where are the spending cuts?
Channman replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
While reading your post, I had this thought...just a thought nothing that will change the world. Seems to me in my observation that many American families run their family finances much like our government, i.e. with deficient spending. How many American families truely work toward financial independance and or reduce their debt? We all know many that do, but I come across many in my daily life that are doing nothing to prepair for tomorrow. So maybe the problem is "US", we don't practice what we preach -
It only took 13 1/2 Months to go through Heart Surgery than the process of applying for my FAA medical to return to flying. Got my little white peace of paper in the mail a little over a week ago in time for Christmas.

What if someone threw a fish off a cliff, and nobody cried?
Channman replied to davjohns's topic in Speakers Corner
> Oh, and by the way, would you assholes please quit polluting our water? How would you like it if I pissed in your living room? Thank you. Have you ever seen a whale take a dump, or piss. Nothing clean about it. Hell fish dump in the water millions of times a day. I've even made it a point on many occassions in a previous job to take a piss in the water. Nothing like warming up a wet suit in 50 degree water. -

As I've said before, 'fair' never means what it purports to mean anymore. I've asked Andy twice to give me an objective definition of 'equivalent burden' since I consider this another soft term like 'fair' that is really emotion based. He seems to drop out of discussions about the time I ask. (NOT implying he is avoiding. I truly think we are missing each other) I tried to PM him, but he doesn't accept PMs. I really want to get a definition. Nobody else has come forward to defend the term, either. My poor/very poor attempt to provide you a possible answer to Andy's term, "Equivalent Burden". Lets see if I break it down: EQUIVALENT: Equal, as in value, similar or identical effects, Being essentially equal. BURDEN: that which is carried, load or obligation. So it appears the term "Equivalent Burden" means: "My pain should be shared by others so that my pain and or obligation is no greater than another. One should be made equal and or have an equal outcome not based on personal industry or output." Or simply; "What is yours is mine and I'll take it".

Florida GOP admits to voter suppression efforts . . .
Channman replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, we did try and recruit the New Black Panther Party to assist in this most important effort. They declined our offers because they were way to busy suppressing the vote in Philly. They may have openings in their schedule in 2016. -
Whats wrong with a drug test? This is standard operating procedure. People operating under the influence is not tolerated, but there are policies in place to give them an opportunity to correct there behavior however repeated random drug testing will be conducted and if a positive result is reported...."Out The Door they Go."
