I like my specV. Only 175 HP, 185 lb/ft torque, but with a 6-speed stick with close gears, and only 2,600 lbs. it sure is a blast to drive! Might I add it handles corners tight enough to lift the inside rear tire off the ground fun little car... runs about 1 14.9 in the quarter- not too bad for a 4 banger... -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

I know how that goes, I had it all planned out to do several jumps each weekend and finish quickly, but we had over a month where it would rain almost every weekend . Good luck with the rest of your AFF!

Well I wish I could, but I'm only 18, anybody wanna buy it for me? haha anyways I really have to thank my instructors and other jumpers at the dz for all thier help. They really made me relax and the whole process was just pure FUN! -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Yes, I have a rigger at my DZ. I want to take it there this weekend so that I can get the cypres put in, get the re-pack, and all the inspections current etc... Thanks for your help, Eric -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

I hope this is not a stupid question. I just got my Mirage G3 today. It didn't come with a cypres, so I plan on just buying one new. I know they had that service bulletin a while back, so I guess when I have the cypress put in, it will automatically be complied with? also, I want to try to get it put in either this weekend or next. Is there a certain kind I need to get? I don't want to order one and have it not fit a Mirage G3 or something bad like that -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

It has been raining her in Memphis for weeks on end, or at least the weekends. Finally today is beautiful, low to mid 60's, but that damn wind kept me grounded.... it was 15-20 mph. Gonna try it again tomorrow, it is supposed to be calm... -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

I work behind the counter of the largest flight school in the area. On weekends, instructors will go down the street to McD's to grab lunch really quick between flights. When they come in, the smell is pretty good, but when they are finished eating, they put their trash in the big trash can behind the desk. After about an hour is starts to smell soooo bad. I used to go eat McD's myself, but not anymore, I cannot stand the smell. As for the instructors, I make them take their trash outside into the dumpster now lol. I cannot stand the thought of eating that crap anymore. They just put a new subway in just down the street, and more and more of the instructors are eating there now, which isn't so bad. -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

I am also a student (only 2 AFF jumps so far) and I also have a question about leg straps. Both jumps I have done so far, I have noticed that the leg straps make the insides of my legs hurt pretty bad, especially when bringing my knees together etc... Is there something I can do (body position etc...) to reduce this? Or is it a normal thing that everybody has to get used to? It didn’t seem to bother me as much on my second jump as it did my first. I asked one of my friends about it and she told me to cross my legs at the ankles, but that didn't seem to help. Any advice would be great, Thanks! -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Well, I had my first AFF jump yesterday. The DZ was so busy that I didn't get to do the 3 I wanted, but it was still a BLAST! I had so much fun, and I thought it went pretty well. The instructors said that my main problem was my legs - they were movin around the whole time, which caused us to turn some. Oh well I guess that will get better with practice. I cannot wait until next weekend, I plan to jump both Saturday and Sunday. WHAT A FUN TIME!! -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Yep thats where I am going. I will see you there on Saturday if you go. Dane is my instructor, do ya know him? He did my tandem and I really liked him. -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

IMO the best bang for the buck is a Nissan SE-R specV. I picked mine up for about 15K brand new. It is the most fun car I have ever driven, and with a few simple suspension mods, it will pull damn near 1 G on the skidpad. It has a 2.5 4 banger and a 6-speed manual trans. FUN TO DRIVE. I honestly think that you would have to spend 30-40 grand to get a STOCK car that will handle as good as a specV will handle- stock. I get close to 40 mpg on the highway, and never spend more than $20 to fill it up. It also has almost V8 like torque - I kept up with a Z28 camaro up til about 50 mph, which was a complete surprise to me. Here are some pics... -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Thanks for all the advice. I have been trying to read as much as possible. A friend gave me a book of all the AFF stuff she was given when she was going through training. I have read through that stuff - about 3 times, and I have especially going over jumps 1-3. I really want to try to get jumps 1-3 done this Saturday, because my work schedule is such a pain to work out (I have had to arrange to get Saturday off like 3 weeks in advance ) Thanks again for the advice, Eric -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Ok - I am ready to start AFF. I did my first tandem a couple weeks ago and I was freekin hooked. I have the money in hand right now, and I cannot wait for this weekend. One of my friends told me that I should try to do jumps 1-3 this coming Saturday, then jumps 4-5 the next Saturday, and finally 6-7 the very next day. I have been reading the message boards quite a bit, and also reading all about AFF... this is something I am very serious about. I am supposed to go in for a few hours of ground school Friday night, and was told to expect to spend the night and start with jumping first thing Saturday morning. Does anybody have any good advice for me? It would be much appreciated… Thanks -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

I'm not an instructor - yet, but I am well on my way. I could probably give ya plenty of advise so if ya want to, feel free to email me ehaecker@dropzone.com I got my private license last summer, and my instrument rating a couple of months ago and now I am working on commercial. I also work at the local flight school, so I'm sure I could help you with any questions/concerns about what flight school or instructor to pick. Good luck, Eric -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite

Hey everybody! I am new to skydiving, I took my first tandem jump on Sunday- WHAT A RUSH! I decided that I am going to continue with this. I had a friend tell my that this is the best place to read and learn all about skydiving, so here I am! I cannot wait to start AFF! I am also an instrument-rated private pilot, currently working to get my commercial rating. I have been told that being a pilot will make some of the training for skydiving a little easier, because many of the regulations are the same (cloud clearances etc...) Either way, I am absolutely hooked, and cannot wait to start jumping more!! -------------------------------------------------------- "Just follow your heart, that's what I do." -Napolean Dynamite
