This happened on my very second jump. 1st jump was static line, talked down via radio,noproblem! Now it was time for AFF LEVEL-1 Exited the King Air @ 13,500, got into a stable arch, did first COA.alls fine,then the wind blew off my Kroops and I had a brand new pair of perscription glasses on. I used my right hand to ckeck the I still had my glasses on and to put the Kroops back. Well, when I used my rt. hand I didn't know enough to compasate with my left. Next thing I know is me and my 2 instructors are fliping and sliding all over the sky.During the "unstable" fall , I throw off my reserve side instructor,while uncontrolbaly falling all over the sky. YA know green, blue,blue,green,etc I get the Arch sign per JM-1 Needless to say I could not get stable and my main is deplyed per JM1. I'm now under canopy with a heartrate of 800 beats. Do a canopy check and alls well. The radio comes to life a and all I get is "AFF student 1 I cannot get you back to the dz and about to lose radio contact,Just rememder what you learn in ..... Dead My 2nd time under canopy and all alone "SHIT" BTW My glasses we hangig on by one ear piece.Finally looked at my alti and 900' agl. To the bottom was a wide open field then powerlines,highway,powerlines,sm. field ,barn and large open field. Not much good at canopy control and limited knowledge,but I was to high for the 1st field,and knew enough that powerlines,road and barns ,not good landing options.Well I avoid 1st set of lines at about 50ft. above them ,came across road low enough to see peps in the car pointing at me, cleared 2nd line at 20-25'. Was rapidly losing altitude and heading straight fo that barn.I then relized I could use the brakes to keep for losing altitude.I just cleared the barn and beautiful wide open field appeared. Somehow I flared and landed on my toes, collapased the canopy and started walking out of field towards the the road. At this point 3 Sheriff cars stop and aked what was goin on .Hell, I didn't know!! I was on the ground not dead,nothing broke.Without their assistence (Thanks officers) I climbed the barbed wire fence without tearing canopy or suit. Now a car pulls up and the the instructor asks "How was you landing?" I replied "good" and climded in the car for the ride back to the Dz Man in car"What the hell are ya doing?" "I'm gettin a ride back to the DZ" Man "I just stopped to ask the deputy for directions" Got back out and stood their lookin dumd!! Finally a truck pulls up and I'm told "Get in" Back at the Dz my instructor,Andy is sitting there looking at a pack of Marlboros and asked "So you think you passed ?" I replied sheepishly "No,not really" Andy "Well at least you listen enough to know that,so what you want to do?" "I want to learn to skydive" Andy said Well then we have alot of work to do. Let's go." You're riht. That would be kinda small. Better keep it at a lighter WL. Say ahhhhhhhhh, Xaos27 118,That should be just about right. I beleive in safe canopy flin. You be ok,Just read a few thread in the swoopinf fourm and take 1 hour canopy control coure and ya be just fine. Seriously,While I'm just joking with you,there are more than noy a good numder of jumpers with 100-200 jumps undr their belt that are cinsidering this!! Thanks guys.From talking to him his weight with gear would place him at 1:06 wingloading. The reason I asked about it being a CRW is I looked in Poynter's manual and read it wrong,and assumed they were all CRW. It must have been me,because at first glance they didn't appear to look like a Dacron line,in fact they seemed an awful lot thicker then any lines.Just me taking a quick glance instead or looking before typing. Well nothing really. I got one in a trade for a jump suit.Read up the specs. and manufacter. I have a guy coming off student status and not wanting to spend alot of $$ figured it may be a decent canopy for him.I never jumped one was wondering the flare characteristics.I never seen such heavy lines,16-braid Kevlar I beleive. Ok, I'm having one of of thse days. It's been a bit but can someone help me out on how to daisy chain? Well,This is a question that I have always asked myself. Been in EMS since"83 (ground and flight medic,RT) I know the mantra (gloves on, scene safe etc..) and at first I was the only CPR trained persson there.911 was called,I started compressions while the guy was still in the car, got help in getting him to the ground,gave 2 breaths and started 1 man CPR. Soon joined by a dentist and went to 2 man CPR. Shortly EMS arrived with BVM amd took over .I washed my mouth out contious with H2O2. Monitor showed V-Fib. He was packagage and sent to Truama Ctr. Never did find out what happenned. Never thought of the shirt barrier. Just could not sit by and do nothing.
