  3. Well, i sucked it up and actually just tried it. And it was really a lot easier then i thought it would be... I didn't want to try it on a paid jump in case i had problems, but I'm on every load as a paid jump so i just gave it a shot and it worked. Much stress about nothing. Cheers though

Surely reaching out to the strut therefore extending my wings would make life really difficult? it feels like if i had wings on there'd be heaps of pressure on them and be really difficult to do? (bear in mind i have issues with several climbouts on several planes especially with wings....falling off is my speciality...hence the paranoia)
  5. I've done most of my tandem camera jumps from a 206 but we temporarily are using a 182. I've been just wearing a freefly suit and climbing out along the strut and standing on the wheel, which works, but i can't figure out how I'd do it with wings on? Any ideas would be awesome...
  6. I had that problem with 1 card took it back to the shop and they replaced it no worries, I've had no problems at all with the new card...
  7. Sell your rig in the uk, if you can get cheap gear in the uk buy there too. It's tricky too sell second hand gear here because there's not enough skydivers to be honest. On the same track there's not too much second hand gear for sale, but when there is it seems to me to go cheaper then the uk because there's not as much demand.... Have a browse on nzpf.org gear for sale sections you'll see what i mean. Oh yeah, and good luck sports jumping in christchurch....
  8. The kit lens (18-55mm) which comes with the 400D matches up pretty good with a .45 lens, works sweet. Not as good as some of the wider angle lenses but is cheaper and does the job still...
  9. I had the same problem when i was first trying to sitfly, even when i had my knees in against my chest i couldn't stop spinning and it scared me. So i did a coach jump and instead of trying to sit or whatever, the aim of the whole jump was just not to go on my belly. I just flailed around on my back spinning, couldn't control it at all but i didn't go to my belly, and at about 6 grand i finally managed to stop the spin and keep a heading on my back. After that i was comfortable enough not to go back onto my belly. Could be worth a shot.
  10. I've seen it done on a tandem before (hop 300), hard opening but no damage to the canopy or the people.

  12. It's pretty much amazing. I got mine today only jumped it once and was jumping the 300D before, so far all i can say is its amazing.
  13. Don't get me wrong, i have slinks myself and prefer them, but a friend of mine had a slink snap on opening which caused a nice mal....they're not fail proof either...

I've seen it done before when the camera guy is sinking out on the tandem, if the passenger goes crazy flat and the camera guy isn't wearing the right suit, sometimes shit happens, and it looks heaps better to take a dock on the TMs hand then to not capture any of the jump on video. If there's heaps to much tension the TM will no doubt release the grip or indicate to do so. It's not like its hanging on for dear life, it just makes the job that tiny bit easier for a few thousand feet. I just don't really see why everyone's so crazy about it.
  15. As the editor at my dz it works ok, seems to take a fair amount of time using different tapes from different camera guys and adding the landing footage seperately. Think it's a really good idea in pronciple, although doesn't feel like our video sales have gone up much....
  16. I think you'd have a real good time at both places, and the instructors are brilliant and friendly and encouraging at both. It probably comes down to what you'd like to do there other then skydiving: Ocana - near a town, swimming pool, sounds like theres a fair bit to do. Lillo - Not too many places to go, but always a laugh anyway, and i hear FFA have got a bunch of new stuff to do when the weather isn't jumpable, can't say anymore really i don't know enough. I think if push came to shove these days I'd go for Lillo, but its a completely biassed opinion...
  17. I guess you are talking about the Diploma in Commercial Skydiving in Christchurch? It gets a lot of stick from people, especially on here, but from what i have seen personally it is worth it, particularly if you are a new zealand/australia resident.
  18. If you look on the reference page on Dave's website there's a lot of people who do have a good experience doing the course there. Me included.

  20. With regards to the bad reviews of headcorn, we actually thought the same and were reluctant to go there for a while. Eventually we ended up going down there though, and its actually not like the reviews make out. I've been down several times since then and everyone is always friendly enough, facilities are pretty good, regular loads, and the bunkhouses are cheap! Give it a go, its worth a try at least.

  22. Also if it's a gift you don't have to pay tax on it, so if you ask the person sending it really nicely they might be kind, and mark it as a gift.

  24. Did AFF there last year, all the instructors are fantastic, and the student gear is better then most. Facilities on the DZ are real good. Not too much to do in the village itself in the evenings, but with the right people good nights can be had, and most people there are willing to go out and have fun. Nice landing area, nice plane, nice atmosphere. Recommended.
