I don't think posting information that was already obvious in the article ( "The Q 1 Building on the Gold Coast") is going to compromise this site. It is not exactly an obscure cliff or local antenna or something like that.

This is a famous park in the area of Xian. The mountain is called Huashan. I plan to hike there. No idea about jumping.

I keep seeing this reference to L-7. The Lumbar "L" vertebrae only go up to "5." "T" go to 12, and "C" go to 7. FJ >>Physicians use a code to number each of the 24 vertebrae in the spine. The low back officially begins with the lumbar region of the spine directly below the cervical and thoracic regions and directly above the sacrum. The lumbar vertebrae, L1-L5, are most frequently involved in back pain because these vertebrae carry the most amount of body weight and are subject to the largest forces and stresses along the spine.

Bush calls for national parks makeover By JOHN HEILPRIN, Associated Press Writer Fri Aug 25, 6:54 PM ET WASHINGTON - There's nothing like a big birthday bash on the horizon — even if it's a decade away — to make you want to look your best. So, President Bush on Friday directed the National Park Service on Friday to set "performance" goals for itself for the next 10 years. The idea is to have as many bragging rights as possible when the park service turns a century old in 2016. "As havens of enjoyment, recreation, learning and personal renewal, national parks must endure," said Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, while opening a new visitor education center Friday at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. To the Park Service, the presidential nudge is tantamount to President Kennedy's call to put a man on the moon. "This is for us what that was to NASA," Park Service spokesman David Barna said. "At the end of this 100 years, we want things that people will enjoy into the next century. And if you want a good reason to do something, a birthday's a good reason. Everybody wants a birthday party." Bush asked the Park Service to give him a list of "signature projects and programs" by the end of next May. Those likely would include the agency's efforts to: _Restore about 30 old, decaying buildings in Ellis Island's South Side Hospital Complex, where nearly 12 million immigrants entered the United States from 1882 until 1954. _Allow BASE jumping in all national parks and monuments on national holidays. _Construct a $100 million light rail system to cut traffic around the heavily visited South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, plus "greenways" with biking and walking trails. Bush said the projects would build on 6,000 park improvements made over the past five years. He requested, and Congress agreed to spend $5 billion-plus for those projects. But his pledge to eliminate a $5 billion annual maintenance backlog remains unfulfilled.

I was 56 and had 68 BASE jumps when I was injured last year in a fall, not doing a BASE jump or skydive. I may pick it up again, once I am all back to normal...or not...depends on the family. I still need a "B" and then would have both a BASE number and a Night BASE. I am sure there are people lots older than me.

">LD50 [In reply to] Quote | Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From a statistical analysis of Emergency Room visits, LD50 is 90 feet over water and 30 feet over concrete. This is an average for the population as a whole without consideration for how the person fell. LD50 means Life or Death at 50% odds.

If he had somehow survived, NPS probably would have charged him with illegal aerial delivery.... POSTED: 11:11 am PDT August 25, 2005 UPDATED: 11:29 am PDT August 25, 2005 YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. -- Separate water-related accidents have led to the deaths of two people in Yosemite National Park last week. In the most recent incident, Shane Kinsela, 21, of Dublin, Ireland, was killed Monday when he fell from the top of Upper Yosemite Fall. Kinsela was posing for pictures when he slipped and fell down the 1,400 foot high waterfall. His body was recovered Tuesday morning.

Please explain to me: How can the NPS in Yosemite crack down any MORE than 100% unmitigated proscription of BASE jumping and 100% ingnoring the needs of BASE jumpers? All normal methods to get them to change have failed, and I would like to jump there legally in my lifetime, not my grandchildrens. Post: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The few are not making decisions for the many. The few are choosing for themselves. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What happens after this "Protest" if the NPS decides that they are completly fed up with the BASE jumper issue and enact policies that further crack down on BASE on their lands? There is precident on this with in the Off-road groups on BLM lands. My understanding of the issue there was that a small group of off-roaders decided that they did not want to be contained in the area that the BLM set aside for them and went off roading off trails. The BLM got fed up and just elimiated off roading for the entire local area (hikers considered it a victory in getting the lands back). The actions of just a small group ended up effecting the possibilites for the rest of the population. Since this is a protest jump I would assume that there is no need to flee since you are protesting the system and will be landing and putting your hands out waiting for the handcuffs, or is this more of an organized load in shich if you are able to run then it was successful? If you can't kill yourself doing it, its not a sport... its a game.
