  1. "How many roads must a man walk down before you can call him a man?" "7!" "No dad... its a rhetorical question" "Rhetorical ehh....8!" Seriously I don't think its a simple number, more a case of frequency. Again you can't say George Bush is a skydiver, but he has skydived. However he was a skydiver for a brief period, from the time he left the plane to the time he touched down he was a skydiver.
  2. If you are ever in Australia its not something you have to worry about. Tipping is hardly done in Australia, and when it is its usually confined to hospitality jobs, but even then its never expected unlike in the states. I'm sure the tandem master wouldn't mind, but I wouldn't give it too much thought here.
  3. Lol, I wonder how often the golfers have had that happen
  4. I got heaps as well, just PM me if you want one
  5. Umm... aren't they the same country ("the free world")? Or are we speaking hypothetically....
  6. I've wanted to skydive since I was 7 years old. When I found out I could do it when I was 16 I tried convinving my mum, but it didn't work. I think she thought eventually I would forget about skydiving. HAHA!
  7. Well I've just discovered I need a C licence before I am allowed to have a full face, so that kind of narrows my options...
  8. The first thing my instructor said on my FJC was "Right now you are all doing tandems tomorrow, unless you can prove otherwise" or something along those lines." But we all got through the course fine and did normal AFF jumps.
  9. Yeah, they are pretty heavy, also where are you going to put your audible? Skydiving helmets tend to be cut much higher on the back so you can bend your neck further back wheen you arch, most motor bike helmets I have seen would restrict this movement a bit.
  10. Yeah, I've talked to you before at Picton, I'm Travis - doing aff, usually wearing white shirt, blue sunnies, short blonde hair. I'll see you on Saturday.
  11. I should be back up on Saturday. I think I've spoke to you before bob.dino. You've been doing rel work with Nicole?
  12. One more thing, anyone know any Australian suppliers that sell the Z1?
  13. After reading the posts for the Oxygn A3 I thought I might get peoples opinions on the Z1. I will be completing my AFF soon so its time to start looking at gear. I haven't decided on Open Face or Full Face yet but I do like both the Z1 Full Face and Z1 Evo Open Face. Any thoughts or experiences, how do they compate to the Oxygn A3?
  14. I don't know what Stage 3 is like in the US, but here in Australia on stage 3 one of the instructors is suppose to move around to the front of the student and give signals, and the other instructor may let go if the student is in a good position.
  15. My secret santa gift was three toy skydivers.
  16. I guess we might be adding Jeb Corliss to this post if his wing suit landing goes will, either this post or the incidents post....
  17. Sometimes I say to the TM, "Hey its good to see they are letting you jump again, I suppose its been a while since the accident" or "Oh, you got rig 3... good luck" Once we are on the ride up to altitude and my AFF instructor leaned over to a TM and said "Did you tell him what to do if the chute doesn't open" Ahh Tandem passengers are great fun.
  18. conquering fears is the great thing about skydiving, makes you able to handle other things that come up in life. If I am feeling nervous about something I just tell myself "You jump out of planes for fun", it really helps! You'll get use to going to the door, and soon crave the thrill it gives you. I've always just thought of the procedure more than anything. Move here, foot there, hands there, leg here stand there and then you are in freefall, don't bother to think about it. Jumped out of a skyvan for the first time on sat, now that was daunting walking up to the back and turning around. It was great!
  19. I have to drive over nearly 2 hours to my dropzone, but I have nearly finished my AFF. Its a sport that you have to love to do, which is what makes it so great - everyone you jump with wants to be there. I spend the whole week just waiting for the weekend and looking at the sky.

I bought Drop Zone last night. I forgot how bad it was, at least there is some skydiving in it. My friends refuse to watch it with me because they know I'll point out all the mistakes.
  21. My dropzone is 260.7km's from my driveway, so just over 2 hours. Its worth it.
  22. Hey mate, I jump at Picton, doing my AFF. I have also jumped at Coffs Harbour, very nice view up there. Don't bother coming to Canberra to jump, you need a D and display licence.
  23. Hey good work. I jump at picton as well, I am up to AFF6. I had line twists on my AFF1, but cleared them without any troubles. I was very happy with the training. Keep up with it, the jumps only get better from here. My names is Travis, I have short blonde hair and I am usually wearing silver oakleys with blue lenses, so come say hi - I'll be up their on Saturday if the weather is good.
  24. I went through the PLF in the AFF training, but I already knew how to do it from watching war movies and playing computer games. I think they show it pretty clearly in the first episode of Band of Brothers, but don't worry about it - they'll go through it in your AFF training.
  25. The two other guys I did it with didn't want to carry on, they just wanted to do a solo jump, where as I plan to carry on skydiving a long time after I complete my AFF. Skydiving is an expensive and time consuming sport, a lot of people just can't justify it to themselves, and to their spouses.
