  1. so after they buy all this nice stuff theyre poor right? If Bill gates buys a 10 million dollar yacht thats like me buying a half a stick of gum. Relatively speaking--- thats not spending. The top 2% are accumulaters
  2. Poor people do not drive the economy, Spenders do. The top 2 percent are Accumulaters not spenders. Who spends ,i.e supports business sales, more as a % of their income? There is a reason money is called "circulation" Tax cuts to the top 2% are not circulating, hence driving the economy, but rather "accumulating"
  3. I don't know anybody that became rich by spending. Thats what the rhettoric is of Bush's tax cuts. "when people have money they spend money". When you give tax cuts to the top 2% of earners , those are the people by very nature are "accumulaters". Giving business tax cuts over middle and lower class citizens is assinine. Lets give WalMart a 10 billion dollar tax cut to produce jobs. If every wal mart has 20 more employees, Im not going to shop there more, I doubt anybody else will either.Who's going to support those extra jobs with sustained sales? Give the cuts to the "spenders" lower and middle class, demand grows as they spend thereby creating sustainable need for additional employees.. The eriposte link shows Dems vs. Repubs INCLUDING a couple years before and after their policy so saying Repubs are always downwind of dems policys argument is invalid
  4. So nobody can come up with credible evidence against Dems dominating at economic policy? Or for that matter can anyone show how supply side economics effectively has worked in the past or why Bush continues to think it will? Problem with trickle down economics is it never trickles all the way down rarely getting past the deep pockets
  5. I know it may hurt some http://www.forbes.com/commerce/2004/07/20/cx_da_0720presidents.html And furthermore http://www.eriposte.com/economy/other/demovsrep.htm
  6. This could be put up there with Bush's trying to be a real person and caught falling off a self-balancing segway or picking his nose in the stands
  7. Never mind I forgot Repubs are the Pro-choice,social program, peace loving, Compassionate Conservatives Ive been hearing about LOL. Unlike that wimpy Kerry, Republicans never flip-flop even when the world, media, and general american population believes theyve made a mistake. Beached whales my friend
  8. Funny how Republicans can be irked about bush's DUI but Have no problem doing then forgeting they did the same to clinton and smoking pot.
  9. Oh man conservatives should leave logic alone Pro-life (we need worker bee's), Anti-social programs (don't help the worker bee's), Pro-military (need the worker bees) Pro-death penalty (But kill 'em if they get out of line-start from scratch) Pro-life.................Like how they enjoy playing the religious uppity trump card for Pro-life but FLIP FLOP, did I say that-guess i did, about Death Penalty
  10. Tada! the facts http://www.eriposte.com/economy/other/demovsrep.htm
  11. The hidden punchline "the republican gave him 20$ LOL
  12. WOW! who would have thought a "copy and paste" would get the anvil in such a tizzy lol. There there,,,,,,,there there. Concerning youre death penalty you may cite mortal aquino for what you like, However I do read the bible. Remember in the old test. "an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" rhetoric, you may have forgotten jesus, son of god saying in New test, "I know you have heard an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth but I say turn the other cheeck'? I must have missed the Commandment that says "thou shalt not kill unless........" . Bush as we ALL know is a big supporter of Political dissent. Tell that to Peace mongering Cat stevens LOLOLOLOL
  13. My intention in this post is to have cognitive dissonance examined about the Current state of conservatism or as a broad generalization ,Current republicanism as opposed to Current policies of Liberalism and/or Democrats
  14. Whenever they lose something, they blame it on something wrong or illegal that they claim the Republicans did. It can NEVER be because they and their ideas are simply not popular enough with the people to win them elections. --------------- Uhumm, Simply not popular enough? Have we forgot the 1/2 million popular votes Gore won by? Oh yea the votes not over till youre brother counts the votes
  15. taken as a jest towards his purple hearts? good one, shameless act of RNC wearing purple band-aids. Good message to send to the troops, " If youre not missing a limb, youre not patriotic and were going to mock you".
  16. Republicans,at least in the media, revel in the labels they concoct for liberals that would make it seem liberals ARE exempt from violence/bigotry/etc i.e "bleeding heart", "Girlie men", etc.
  17. Conservatives would have us believe that liberals are out to destroy our country. A popular conservative refrain is that two types of people live in the United States: Americans and liberals. That might be funny except that it's a grotesque distortion of American history. The fact is that every single significant movement advocating an expansion of American liberty has been initiated by liberals and violently opposed by conservatives. The Abolitionist movement, led by unapologetic liberals like William Lloyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips and Frederick Douglass, was viciously opposed by conservatives in both the North and the South and many abolitionists were murdered or imprisoned. The Reconstruction of the South following the Civil War was perhaps the boldest liberal experiment in American history, but it was crushed by southern whites who called themselves "The Conservatives" and formed terrorist clubs like the Ku Klux Klan. The Woman's Rights Convention of 1848 and the subsequent woman's suffrage movement were spearheaded by the indomitable liberal Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Conservatives cried out from pulpits and the halls of Congress against this dangerous attack on "traditional family values." Courageous suffragists would endure 72 years of brutal harassment by conservatives before securing the right to vote. The noble effort to reform labor laws and protect working class people was led by a diverse group of liberals from Jane Addams to Eugene Debs who were fought every step of the way by conservatives, even when it came to child labor reform! Finally, during the Civil Rights movement of the 20th century brave liberal Americans, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., gave their lives in the fight for equal rights for black Americans. Live television coverage exposed the ugliness of the southern conservatives' opposition to Civil Rights. Today many good people are being hoodwinked into thinking themselves conservative because of the new mantra that conservatives are more patriotic and more Christian than liberals. They are neither. The conservative philosophy is not patriotic because it seeks to squelch political dissent and it mocks cultural diversity - the two most important aspects of both our history and our unique American democracy. Conservatism cannot be Christian because it embraces all sorts of violence including the death penalty, unrestricted sale of firearms, destructive exploitation of our environment and preemptive military invasions against defenseless nations. Conservatives make a big deal out of their support for the "unborn," but this is an easy position because it doesn't cost a dime. It's when people are actually born into this world that conservatives lose their compassion. Conservatives lead the fights against tax measures and legislation to fund education and human resources, but they happily support measures to put more people in prison and build more bombs. Conservatives have always thrived on fear; fear of change, fear of the future, and especially fear of those who are different. They react to this fear by picking on other people; newly freed slaves, women seeking equal rights, immigrant laborers seeking better pay and now gay Americans asking for the most basic of all rights - the right to love and to be loved. Anyone who picks on those less fortunate, or different, are narrow-minded bullies and as we all learned in grade school, bullies are cowards. So if you want to be on the wrong side of American history and the wrong side of humanity, go ahead and call yourself a conservative. As for me, I believe that America will rediscover its great liberal tradition and once again strive to become a progressive, creative nation that stands as a beacon of hope for "the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free." 18. Im failing to see the correlation of logic in youre comparison of a fetus to a flag? A 6 month fetus IS alive just like Flag IS a piece of cloth. Dying for a piece of cloth alone is Ignorant. Dying for the ideals i.e freedom that cloth represent is heroic
  19. Priceless http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=696&e=2&u=/ap/20041019/ap_on_el_pr/iran_us_elections
  20. Hmm every year we are going to have "the worst flu season in recent history" and every year we have a "shortage" hmm supply/demand maybe. Oh yeah forgot recently we now have the "flu-mist" at 4 times the cost but we gots plenty of it. Bait/Switch? Ill stick with Echinacea, vitamin C and Andrographis anyday
  21. Rhino I am a veteran, Westpac, 2 months in United Arab Emirates,1 month sasebo, japan. If the flag is not just a piece of cloth please inform me what it represents to you? Leave freedom out of youre description. If youre not free to burn it, it does not represent freedom
  22. Rhino- quick question, you are no doubt a patriot i am not trying or suggesting a lack of patriotism on youre part. What is more important to you, the flag, or the freedom it represents? The brave veterans in iraq now, are they there dying to give iraqi's a flag or as bush states "a nation that is free"? Take that freedom away and the flag is a medium that has lost its meaning and therefore is worthless. Imagine getting youre first drivers license then leaning its illegal for you to use it. It is not unpatriotic to give people the right to burn the flag. No U.S veteran in any war has ever died for a piece of cloth. If I were a veteran in heaven looking down and seen the very freedom I died for taken away i would be seething. "I may not agree with what you say, however I will fight to the death, youre right to say it."
  23. Im glad there are many intellectual people here and not merely blindly emotional . Flag burning is simply a cathartic release for those who feel they are not being heard. I would much rather someone burn a flag to make a statement than escalate and do a OKC bombing. Although I would not burn a flag as it stands, if it ever passed and became constitutional amendment I would be the first on the street burning. That action of amending the constitution would minimize ever veteran that died for our country, to simply dying for a piece of cloth and not for what it represents. Sad state of affairs
  24. As it comes up every year, here it is again getting closer to becoming a Constitutional Amendment to Ban flag Burning. Curious what everyones thoughts were. Personally, I am adamantly against it becoming an amendment, and yes I am a veteran
  25. This is exactly what is wrong with america!! No not the way things are packaged but rather peoples expecting corporate america to do whats best for us. "I didn't know that if I ate Mc'donalds and 5 sticks of butter a day, I would have health problems, they didn't hold my hand and tell me that" Read the label, Read the label, Read the label before projecting blame. Just a tip from youre uncle earny, check labels that say XX% less fat, cholesteral, etc bet ya a wooden nickle nothing has changed only the product has 8 servings now instead of 6. Why blame someone that what you "thought" was a half gallon when it wasn't and SAYS RIGHT ON THE LABEL its not. In case you've missed other labels "skydiving is a potentially dangerous sport"
