I'm a little surprised this morning, but I guess i shouldn't be. Somehow or other this forum has turned to a discussion of the dominant Chinese ethnic group attempting to displace all the other ethnic groups in the world. European ethnic groups have displaced hundreds of smaller indigenous groups all over the world for centuries. The Han may be numerous, but they have a long way to go to show their ruthlessness is sufficient to succeed in out competing the current leaders. -
Governments and people of all political stripes all over the world are dealing with the situation as best they can and in somewhat different but mostly the same ways. The only real difference I have found between people on the right and people in the centre ( I don't know any real leftists ) is that people on the right tend to complain a lot more about how unfair it is that they are inconvenienced.

Of course there are insurrectionists and those who would give comfort to them within the ranks of the police and the military. I very much doubt there has ever been a right wing movement anywhere in the world that did not have elements of the security apparatus within it.

The covid emergency is causing shutdown, lock downs, curfews and general disruption on a huge scale. A slow motion emergency. People who need medical care for other things can't get it because the hospitals have to put so many resources into treating people who are very sick with covid. The most effective way of lowering that number is to vaccinate those most likely to be filling those beds. And that is exactly what the plan is right now. Do you work in healthcare? If you did there is a very good chance that you would see the situation as the emergency that it is.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard it reported this evening that when Mitch was trying desperately to get more forces during the invasion and he ran into nothing but refusals and roadblocks from Trump he swore to those in the room that he would never speak to him again. Trump is going to be impeached and convicted if McConnell can possibly come up with enough Senate votes.

That’s very true. But that’s also what you do an emergency. The short term has to come first sometimes.

The main reason it makes sense to vaccinate older people first is that they currently are taking up a lot of space in hospital beds. If they are not getting sick it will relieve a lot of the strain on the health system.
