I can't believe I'm going to eventually strap that contraption to my ass and give it a whirl. Oh that sounds BAD!!
-
Hey, me too exactly! Although that should change a bit this weekend!
-
Hmm...interesting, thanks! I've never seen a male Calico.
-
I saw that on TV last night too!
-
I know what you mean. They just don't get it!

Flew into the hanger...ouch

WHAT!?! By who? You can do what you want, that is if you really do still want to do it. There are many people out there jumping with all kinds of metal in them. I would suggest jumping a big canopy (bigger than you were jumping before the HP one) for that time you screw up a landing again. That way it won't be too bad. -
True, I have a male and I've only seen one female red tabby. The true female version is the calico.

I'm here...I just came across this thread by accident. There is swelling after injury and it is standard practice to give a type of steriods in the first 24 hours. It is really hard to say what the outcome will be. With these types of injuries it really is a "time will tell" deal. For those that don't know, I'm a paraplegic (T3-T4) so if anyone wants to give Rico or his friends or family my e-mail address so they can get in touch with me if they've got questions please forward it on to them. Or they can just PM me here. Hope he recovers well! Russel

Ooooohhhh, you mean every single new canopy test jumped not just the first of a new design! My guess is no that would be a lot of jumping. Although I'm sure there'd be plenty of people willing to have that job.

Is it just me or did that take a LONG time to open? especially from 40 meters! I think it was more like a tard or rollover (not bagged) but still.

I broke my femur in two places and didn't get it fixed for 6 days. But then again I can't feel it so...
-
Hey, I remember that, despite all the morphine they had given me!
-
No, that's not where I heard it. Edit to add: I actually heard that from a non-jumper years ago.
-
That’s what one would call a three bagger. One bag for her head, one bag for your head and one bag for your friends head so he doesn’t tell.

Does this have anything to do with our weekend adventure?
-
I don't think so but we didn't get a really good look around.

I’ve never jumped an antenna. Hell, I’ve never jumped anything other than a bridge and I won’t be for a while still. But when I look out my office buildings window and see this 971’ A up on the hill, I start drooling. So, Cornishe and I had a bit of an adventure this past weekend trying to get to this damn thing. We eventually found it but on the way home we (ok so it was a bit more of an “I” not “we”) chose to go a different way. After many miles we found the road to be closed. We turned around and realized we weren’t going to make it out of the mountains before we ran out of gas. Turns out Cornishe is not a bad driver (despite his driving record) and we were able to coast most of the way down in neutral and just barely make it to a gas station. We were a little disappointed that after all that work we found the area around the antenna looked like Dr. Evil's hideout and was guarded like Fort Knox. There was a security gate with a touchpad, lots of cameras and several buildings that looked like they were staffed 24/7. That and there wasn’t much of a landing area either. Oh well, it was a nice 5 hour drive in the mountains.

Ok then...for jumps you would normally do with a fine mesh slider, why don't you do it with a large mesh slider with the brake lines routed outside the grommets and keeper rings. Used with those risers I had made (blow free risers? [pics]) this might give you the same opening speed with the easy ability to clear line overs. Or is there a huge difference between brake lines in and out the slider grommets, bigger than the difference between large mesh and small mesh? Anyone?

Several people will be in Twin the weekend of July 29th-31st when Faber will be there.
-
I don't get it.
-
I've seen all over people saying it's the brake lines that force the slider down. Why is that? I've seen slider up jumps with the brakes routed outside the slider and it came down. I would think it's all the lines that force the slider down. Why specifically the brake lines more than the others? With nose first inflation the front should start to be driven down before any other part right?
-
Oh, I get it now. Hmm...hadn't thought of that.
-
Normal toggle line... Do you mean the red brake line in the picture? If so then why does that have to go through the slider and not the black one? And what line has to go up and down?
-
How confusing was it to set the brakes with all those lines? Did you add the slidergate specifically for this setup or do you always use one? Thanks for the pic! Edit to add: Good luck on the jump! Is your reserve in date!?!
-
Yeah, I mentioned that as one of the bad points to the set up. Excerpt from first post. "...I’m thinking that a blown toggle would be a little less likely with this setup because you would have to put the toggle through 2 finger traps instead of just one, a little more friction. This in turn could also be a downside in the fact that because of the friction, releasing the toggle may be harder or it may be easier to have a hang-up."
