I usually wear my Z1 with a Pro-Dytter. My Bonehead Mindwarp should be here by this weekend, though. While the full-face is great for R-dub and solo sit practice, I'm discovering lately that I really want to have the option to have my face exposed on some jumps. I like being able to smile at people when I'm having fun. Sometimes I just jump in goggles, though. Ask Phree. Skydiving is for cool people only -
Anyone got some exercises I can do to help me with this? I tend to get so crazy focused in the door that I do things like giving an imperceptible count, not presenting myself properly to the wind, etc. That's why I love swooping to the base so much -- someone else counts, easy presentation. But I want to get better. I need some ideas on exits I can do that will expand my tunnel vision...thoughts? Skydiving is for cool people only

$14 jumps.

I live in the area, and while I haven't been there, I've never heard one bad thing about that dropzone. If it's closest to you, go for it! You have other options...there's a dropzone of a similar size up toward Temple, and south of Austin is Skydive San Marcos, a really great dropzone. But any of them are good bets. Y'all are just dirty. Dirty dirty dirty. Hey Bill, thanks, but I need to learn to pack it myself -- can't jump F-111 forever. Skydiving is for cool people only

The PD manual sez if I deviate from the packing procedures outlined therein, I MUST CONSIDER MYSELF A TEST JUMPER. I don't know if I want to be a test jumper. Sounds scary. It's a 150. It's all yellow and green and pretty. Skydiving is for cool people only

I can't get this Sabre2 in the bag. It must be broken. It's obviously been tampered with; it's all slippery, like someone coated it with goose grease. Skydiving is for cool people only

Instead of going to a breeder, why not get a nice homeless dog facing certain death? Even if you have your heart set on a particular kind, it's not hard to find breed-specific rescue organizations. You can even get a very young dog if that's what you want. Just something to ponder. Skydiving is for cool people only

Hmm, can't reply to original post. Anyhow, yeah, I f***ing loved tunnel camp. Here's the writeup Phree was talking about. Emma's right -- after my first day in the tunnel, which was 20 minutes of flying, I was about dead. Then I had to drag my ass out of bed and do evening tunnel time. I was popping a LOT of Aleve. I wish there were some kind of online rigger database...I had a hard time finding a local rigger, too. Skydiving is for cool people only

What?! Why? Isn't it obvious that behind our incessant talk about beastiality beats a sensitive and loving heart? Heh, just kidding. We're awful. I'd be shocked too. I'm very glad to hear Drew's doing better. He must keep this thought in mind: Chicks dig scars. Skydiving is for cool people only

Baby, we need to talk. But first comb your hair and turn off the Star Trek DVD. Skydiving is for cool people only

I foolishly told Phree I'd have 350 jumps by the end of next summer. That's Sept. 21, 2003. I'll need to average around 5 jumps a week to make it feasible. Let's hope I keep having Saturdays off. Sigh. Skydiving is for cool people only

No they're not! I hope that screaming and whistling that's been coming from upstairs all morning is my other bird and not a homeless person. And Dante, just because something is shiny, that shouldn't mean it has to die. Skydiving is for cool people only

If you're not home much, and you're not a freaky crazy person who doesn't mind birds sitting on his head and pooping on him with impunity, I'd really advise against a bird. They're very smart creatures, and they need a LOT of attention or they go nutso crazy and start biting you, or themselves, or any manner of super creepy behaviors. Look in the paper; there's always a long list of older birds for sale. People have NO idea what they're getting into when they buy that pretty parrot. They're loud, messy as hell, and lots and lots of trouble. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pry a beak from my earlobe and get something to wipe up all this bird crap from my keyboard. Muenkel, I'm going to go with the consensus here -- I'd get a cat, or some pretty fish. Skydiving is for cool people only

1 plateful of whipped cream in the kisser:6:2 "Well, boss, the reason I'm late and have pie in my hair is, um...." 100th jump today. Surprise SCR. Did a no-grips two-way exit, then, "Say, why won't you let me get a sidebody grip on you the way we dirt-dived? Plan the dive and dive the pla -- aaaaaack why are there a million bodies barrelling down on me?!" It was awesome...thanks guys! What a great weekend. I love having Saturday off. I'm going to have to look into getting a normal-people job. Skydiving is for cool people only

This is what the wire's moving tonight. I didn't know her, but she's from the Dallas area. LEBANON, Maine - A Texas woman who died from injuries sustained in a skydiving accident had performed more than 200 jumps, officials said. Friends of Zara E. Sunday, 24, of Euless, Texas had planned to make a memorial jump over the weekend, according to Skydive New England, the company that was providing skydiving services to her group. Many of Sunday's friends, alarmed by the delayed arrival of an ambulance, agreed to come to testify at a town meeting about the need for an ambulance in the town, said Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole. Sunday was making her fourth jump of the day when things went wrong Thursday, Cole said. She apparently decided to land in a field before she noticed that there were powerlines and pulled quickly on a cord to change directions, Cole said. She went into a spiral and hit the ground with a thud loud enough to be heard by a nearby resident who was indoors watching TV, Cole said. Cole, who was the first rescuer on the scene, waited 20 minutes for an ambulance to come from New Hampshire because Lebanon doesn't have one. Town voters recently rejected a proposal to spend $7,000 to buy a used ambulance. In trauma cases, every minute is important in saving lives, but there's no way of knowing whether Sunday could have been saved if she had arrived sooner at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H., Cole said. Sunday, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered severe head trauma, internal injuries and a broken hip, ankle and legs, he said. She was being transferred to a LifeFlight helicopter for transport to the Maine Medical Center, a trauma hospital in Portland, when she went into cardiac arrest and died. The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating the accident and sent a safety inspector to the scene.

If anyone has more information on this, even unofficial, please PM me. I might have known her.

Where are your newbie questions? Let me at 'em. Skydiving is for cool people only

Hell, I can answer these. Wing loading is pounds per square foot. Thus, if you weigh 150 with gear, and you're jumping a 150 square foot canopy, you're loading it at 1:1. RW = relative work, where people fly belly-to-earth and build various formations. Here are some pics! Skydiving is for cool people only
