Hi, it depends on where in Mexico are you going to. The best and easier way to find out is using the DZ listed under Dropzones here. If you are traveling to Mexico city, your best bet is Skydive Cuautla (Twin Otter, about an hour drive away). If you are going to be up North, your best bet is Skydive El Sol in Cabo (King Air), and if you go South-East, then go to Skydive Cancun (Cessna) But this time there are seasonal DZ open in Ixtapa, Puerto Escondido and Puerto Vallarta. If you are going to either one of these places they are easy to find. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Mexico - Boogies in the Winter/Spring..??
PesadillaK replied to alana's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I am sorry I just check in once a day, but there seems to be more to say about a trip to Mexico during winter. As you know SDC comes to Ixtapa (you can check in their web site) and Puerto Escondido and Vallarta are scheduled for our Mexican Holidays, so yeah, they are pretty busy Hotel times, but there is always a place to stay. Also I think the adventure is part of being in Mexico. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always! -
Mexico - Boogies in the Winter/Spring..??

Alana; I am of course biased, but why not try Skydive El Sol in Cabo? We have now a King Air and we are freefly friendly. Being a small drop zone you can pretty much do what you want. If you come with a bunch of friends you won't regret it. But just in case, check Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta or Puerto Escondido. All are beach boogies. If you want to be inland go to Skydive Cuautla. ¡Feliz Cumpleaños Iwan! I just happened to find this thread, so I just wanted to let you know that all of us in Cabo wish you a very happy one. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

There is flotation gear at Skydive El Sol, in Cabo, but it is always a good idea to bring your own. Also in case of a water landing there are plenty of jet skies and boats willing to recover the swimmer. And they are Fast! We have never had anybody landing that far off the coast anyway, but rest assured that it is not an open ocean, but a closed bay. No strong currents, not such big distances and plenty of people willing to help. I just want to stress the fact that you don't have to land close to anybody. If you don't feel comfortable land further down the beach and walk back to the meeting point. That way you wont get anything in your way. And even if you are in the middle of the bay, you really need to be too low to not get to the beach. In which case, the staff will know in advance that you are not going to make it so a Jet ski will be ready for you. If you feel more comfortable, they can steer you with hand signals from the beach in order to get you landing where you want. And remember, this is about feeling good and having fun, so relax, breathe and you'll have the best time! Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Hi Evelyn: don't worry. Beach landings are great. There is wind, but it does not change direction easily and you can tell well in advance what your landing patter is going to be. Just make sure people in Cabo explain to you the landing pattern, how to recognize the landing zone from above, and any alternate landing areas. Sometimes it looks like your spot was not so good, but you'll find that is very easy to get to the expected landing area, because they adjust the spot to match the wind. In any case, if the wind is really strong there won't be jumps! Just review your water landing instruction and bring water gear to be prepared. The beach might look small from above, but it really is long and wide. I'm sure you won't have any problems. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Tempting! he he, he. But I think I'll go most of the week to SDC and the weekend to Rantoul. I'm still weighing between both events. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Thanks a lot! I think I will follow your advise and do both. I can't be two weeks abroad, so I think I'll go first to SDC for the weekend, then to Rantoul and I'll have to be back at Chicago to catch my plane back. Hope to see you there! Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Hi, I will have a week of holiday and I am making up my mind to go skydiving up north either to the WFFC in Rantoul or to Skydive Chicago's Summerfest the week before. I can not go to both, and haven't been to either of them before, so what do you recommend? I am looking to have a good time, jump from as many different aircraft as possible, being in a safe environment and although I enjoy parties, I am not a party animal myself. I can think of pros and cons for both, but I just cant make my decision. Please, those of you who know both events can give advise? Thanks! Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Hi Evelyn! I am DZO of Skydive El Sol in Los Cabos. We will be very happy to have you jump here! In fact, the cruise's port is extremely near our DZ. I don't think you'll have trouble, but it will be very helpful if you can call us ahead (Ph No (624) 108-9592). Right now winds are a bit strong, but in august they are perfect! Beach landings are easy and our staff will explain what you need to know. We have water gear, which is required for low jump divers. Our web site is having trouble right now receiving mails, I trust it can be fixed soon, but feel free to post me at fkuribrena@hotmail.com

The Medano beach is close to the Marina and you can easily see The famous Arch from there. Also although there are plenty of boats, the end of the beach, where the landing zone is, is pretty uncrowned and safe. You can use the boats as tetrahedrons, because they do tell wind directon very accurately. There are no Palm trees or beach tents or cables in your way, and you can easily spot the landing zone from above, since often the exit is over the ocean. However, the spot is normally good and there are some outs. Flotation gear is required for Tandem jumpers and low time divers. There are plenty of jet skies that can pick anybody doing a water landing. You must fill out a waiver and have a log book, and a license. The reserve must be in date. Credit cards or checks are not accepted. There is usually a packer, but you can pack for yourself too. Packing area is behind the Tabasco bar, over a mat but with no roof. The trip to the airport takes about 15 minutes from the beach. This tends to be a fairly low key DZ, with several social activities for your friends and family to do if they don’t skydive. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops in Cabo.

Hi Chrissay, I don´t know you, but I feel like I do, cause the guys showed me some videos where I can see you! They are really funny! And as a New Years Resolution I decided to pay a visit to Tecumseh this year. Looks like fun! But of course, that will be when weather is better up there. Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!

Hi, for any of you interested in jumping at Skydive El Sol in Cabo just drop by at the beach We can be reached either by phone (cell phone) at 108-9592. From outside Los Cabos dial 001 (624) or from Los Cabos 044 (624), but if you are using a cell phone just dial 108-9592 and that should do it! In any case we are at the Medano Beach, right by the Cascadas Hotel. Or just ask for Jonathan in the Tabasco Bar. Also any activities stand must have info now. Since we are starting, not many people knows yet, so we are making only about two flights a day, but of course, the more people wanting to jump, the more flights we can do. We do take off from the municipal airport (we provide transportation from the beach to the airport) and land on the beach. The web page is still not on, but the e-mail works. You can post any question there. In any case, you may run into Adam or any of the Tecumseh guys and chat with them. Blue skies! Full Planes and Blue Skies Always!
