  1. I was ga2me in 1985. It really is a great trip but has gotten quite crowded. In 1985 about 300 people attempted with a little less than 10% of us finishing. In 1986 National Geographic did a cover story about the AT and thru hikers and the numbers started increasing. Now as many as 4000 attempt it every year. An old girlfriend of mine hiked it a few years ago and was in a pack of folks for the first 2 months. Good Luck
  2. My best friends dad had a christmas tree farm here in Georgia. The deer would eat the tops of the trees, which stunted their growth. He ended up with a crop of "Christmas Bushes". They tried everything to keep the deer away and nothing worked, at least for long. They even tried an electric fence wire, strung at about 4'. It worked for a little while and then the deer learned to jump over it. In a moment of inspiration, they turned the fence off, smeared it with cheap peanut butter, then turned it back on. Worked like a charm. The deer just can't pass giving the ole pb a good lick. As long as they recharge the wire with pb once a week or so they have had no more deer problems for the last 20 years!
  3. Damn Joe, I financed your trip so you could do this? Take it easy man, you can't renovate my lake house in a body cast! rick

  5. Ideally find an attorney that is also a cpa. Then you will be protected by attorney/client priveledge. CPA's and other entities can be subponad by the IRS and will have to testify against you, provide documents, etc. A good tax attorney or attorney/accountant can advise and protect you.
  6. I can't believe no one has mentioned Skydive Lost Prairie. It is a great cessna dz (51 weeks of the year) with nice people and I bar within 100' of the dz. rick
