  1. There is no more Team EXtreme. The team seperated last year to pursue their many intrests. All four members are free agents at the moment. Jim flies his own line of canopies and everyone else flies whatever. Clint flew a different type canopy every event of Nationals. The only thing better then being sponsored is sponsoring yourself.
  2. Yes, the first day of the 2005 US Nationals of Canopy Piloting was covered live by ESPN for a morning show called "Cold Pizza". The Pro Swooping Tour is scheduled for more coverage in 2006.
  3. Jonathan Tagle beat out 20 other competitors for the title of US Champion during the 2005 US Nationals of Canopy Piloting held at Perris Valley Skydiving. Here are the final results... 5. Someone hasn't done their home work... Who gave you that impression? You told me you were going to Denver, you did not ask me if it was a "points" meet. Did you see it scheduled on the Pro Swooping Tour website? The Gofast! Challenge is not, nor has it ever, been on the PST schedule this year. You need to make sure you check out the website more at http://www.proswoopingtour.tv We cannot just make comps "points" meets at the end of the year so a few guys can earn points or get current. Now, if the Gofast Challenge would have been created prior to the schedule coming out in Jan, then yes, it would have probably been a PST points meet. Good news is that Karine will be at CPC Championships/Gofast! Challenge so she can check you out and sign you off for a re-certify. Can't wait to see all of you out there in Denver...
  6. The official invite list for the 2005 CPC Championships can be viewed at http://www.canopypiloting.com/2005cpcgrandfinal.htm
  7. The GoFast Challenge is not scheduled as a Pro Swooping Tour "points" meet. The last points meet is the U.S. Nationals of canopy piloting. From http://www.proswoopingtour.tv 2.8 RE-CERTIFICATION: Canopy pilots who are "Pro" qualified and do not accumulate any performance points within a twelve month period will be required to re-certify. These pilots must request a re-certification test from the Pro Swooping Tour. Pro pilots who fail the re-certification will be required to return to the CPC amateur League and earn a Pro slot at the CPC Championships.
  8. The CPC Championship is totally seperate from the GoFast! Challenge even though they are taking place at the same location and at the same time. The CPC Championships is only for the Amateur pilots who have finished in the top five in their district. The CPC Championships will include a Speed, Accuracy & Distance event with all 10ft gates. The amateur pilots compete on the same courses they use during the season in their district. Highligts of the championships include: 1) $5,000 cash purse to top three winners 2) Three large glass championship trophies 3) Champion to recieve "Pro" card 4) Local TV and Pro Swooper Radio Show onsite The 2005 CPC Championships T-shirts are available for viewing at http://www.canopypiloting.com/cpcchampshirts.htm
  9. The Go Fast Canopy Pilot Challenge scheduled for September 12th – 18th will bring pilots of all levels to a Colorado drop zone for the most anticipated swoop meet of the year. We have no doubt that combining the inaugural CPC Championships, three record attempts, two new concept team events, plus individual, advanced and pro events in one big meet with an $18,000 cash purse and a fun jumper boogie at the same time will guarantee the largest field of competitors to date and an event not to be missed. Mile Hi Skydiving has shown a huge commitment by investing almost $40,000 into the newest and largest swoop pond in the skydiving world. An 8,000 pound one piece pond liner is currently being installed into the 370 by 190 foot excavation, and a cover to prevent evaporation will arrive soon. When completed, the over 60,000 square feet of pond surface will make it the perfect environment for all classic, artistic and team events. Plans include a large scale event at the pond every year, and canopy pilots are already thinking about making adjustments for the 5000 plus foot altitude. Early indications support excellent conditions in the thinner dry air for new records to be set. The Canopy Piloting Leagues organized by Jim Slaton and regional organizers will allow the top 5 competitors from each of 13 regions to enter the finals and vie for $5,000 of the purse. Another $10,000 will be awarded to competitors involved in a series of events organized by Lyle Presse which includes the two new events. Pro competitors will find themselves face to face flying past each other in separate lanes and opposite directions in an attempt to reach the center of the course simultaneously. A new 4 person event which will test the teams right from 5000’ through to the landings, and is expected to be the most spectacular canopy piloting event ever seen. The final $3000 is split into three $1000 awards for anyone who sets a new record in speed or distance and for the first person to go Dirt-Water-Dirt on the 370’ side of the new pond….. a feat that only the very best in the sport may be able to succeed at. DZO Frank Casares has ordered a $1,000 bill from a local bank that will be waiting on the far side of the pond for the first person who makes it during the allotted time period. Fun jumpers can enjoy the action of the meet or play on their own as the drop zone’s newly reconditioned Twin Otter will join the King Air and some guest aircraft to handle all the lift capacity that is needed for the boogie and the competition jumpers. For more information check out the website at www.milehiskydiving.com/gofastchallenge or contact the drop zone at (303) 702-9911. Information will also be available at www.canopypiloting.com. The competition schedule, competitor requirements and the cash purse distribution are attached separately.
  10. www.PSIprotour.com The 2005 Ground Launch Championships of Bladerunning will take place Nov 2-6, 2005 at the Ground Launch Center in Lake Isabella, California. The event is open to all pilots with previous ground launching experience. The competition will include multiple speed courses ranging between 2,100 and 3,000ft long. These events will take place at launch points where off road vehicles will shuttle participants to the top with no walking! In addition, the 2005 GL Championships will include a Ground Launch boogie for all those interested launching but not competing. The GLC will offer a mini-camp on the 2nd of November for all those wanting to get a little training before the boogie. The mini-camp price is $200... Event: 2005 Ground Launch Championships & Boogie Date: Nov 2-6, 2005 Location: GLC-Lake Isabella, California Cost: $125 competition / $50 boogie / $200 mini-camp Prizes: Cash purse and PSI medals Details: The competition will include multiple speed courses. Contact: info@PSIprotour.com WHAT KIND OF GEAR WILL I NEED It is possible to use a normal skydiving rig and harness but not ideal. You will not need to pack but just stuff the canopy in a container for your next launch. Some pilots get by with using B.A.S.E. rigs with external stuff sacks to carry up the mountain. Here at the GLC we use Ground Launch Harnesses designed for the sport. These harnesses have packs on the back to stuff the canopy so you just have to pull it out at the launch site and you’re ready to go...no pins, velcro or external flaps. The Ground Launch Center® keeps a few harnesses available for use by clients on a first come, first serve basis. You will need a canopy that you can fly at about 1.2-1.5 loading. Those pilots currently skydiving with non-high performance canopies will enjoy launching canopies like a Safire, Sabre or Spectra. Pilots currently skydiving with high performance canopies will enjoy starting out with canopies like a Crossfire, Stilleto, Kantana or Rage. Our average pilot at the GLC weighs about 175lbs and uses canopies between 104-140sqf. The canopies most used at the center are GLX 130, GLX 104, VX 111, FX 135, Crossfire 119, Space 130, Safire 129 and Sabre 135. You will need a hard helmet and good tennis shoes or hiking boots. Also recommended...digital altimeter with clock, sunglasses, camelback (or similar hydration system), front pack and small two way radio (wal-mart brand O.K.). WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE The weather is almost perfect 365 days a year at the GLC. The average high temperature in November is 70° F and the low at night can reach 38° F. The annual rainfall in Lake Isabella, Ca is less than eight inches! Nestled in the mountains at only 2,600 feet above sea level, Lake Isabella has very mild winters for a mountainous area. There is rarely snow in the valley. Dry, clear and invigorating, Lake Isabella combines the cool breezes of the mountains with the no-humidity environment of the high desert. ACCOMMODATIONS In addition to the $200 mini-camp fee some slots are available on a first come, first serve basis at the base camp house for $40 a day. Lake Isabella has local hotels/motels available near the GLC for between $60-$100 a night. Contact us for more info. WHO CAN JOIN Pilots must have at least 300 ram-air parachutes jumps or 100 ram-air parachute jumps with paragliding experience. Wavier to this requirements are issued case by case, please contact us for details. Pilots must be motivated and ready to have some serious fun!

  17. Current? I'm down from 1100 jumps a year to about 800 parachute swoops but this still not the reason I didn't go the world Games. It's way more exciting then that. You should know me better Mark, you little joker you! I'll let you in on a little secret. The CPC's big brother called the PST has moved to the International level and is now called the "PSI Pro Tour"...Pro Swooping International. Check out the website at www.PSIprotour.com I'll see you guys at the 2005 Swoop Festival!
  18. Yes, I had a slot at the World Games to compete for the U.S. but I did not go to the event. I am in the middle of a development deal for some exciting new stuff with the Pro Tour. Not enough time to do it all!
  19. CPC Championships update... - June 16, 2005 Added by: CPC The Pro class will not compete against the S-class during the CPC Championships... This years CPC Championships has been combined with the GoFast! Challenge for qualified pro pilots. The "Canopy Piloting Circuit" is the enty level competition circuit for all pilots wanting to get onto the "Pro Swooping Tour". Qualified pro pilots can participate in the "GoFast! Challenge" events and the top 5 pilots from each CPC district (40-60 pilots) will get invited to compete against each other to see who will become the 2005 CPC Champion and which ten guys will get a chance to get onto the Pro Tour for 2006. There is a $10,000 cash purse for the Pro events, $5,000 for the "S-class" of the CPC Championships and $3,000 for any pilots who breaks a record during the week long event. www.canopypiloting.com
  20. Flash Forward... When swoop competitions began around 1996 there were only an average of 8-12 pilots per event. The CPC is having an outstanding year and it will only get better. Consider this, there are more "S-class" competitors competing on the circuit this year then there are "Pro" pilots competing on the Pro Swooping Tour...ever. When you combine the "S-class" & "Pro class" together you see we have doubled our active and qualified competitors. The CPC is the competion arena for all pilots wishing to get onto the Pro Tour. Soon, the value of being on the "Pro Tour" will be higher than ever...
  21. If you like the CPC then you'll love what I'm going to do next for swooping...
