wild blue is all over it.... if you have win98 and a fat 32 hard drive... you will only be able to capture a limited amount of video... if you are using pinnacle software it limits you to an 18 minute movie Thats easy to get around though...... Your average "song" is only 3-5 minutes long. Make a few videos 3-5 minutes long instead of on long one that is 25 .... as you finish one .... upload it to vhs, deleted teh residual.... and start over again.....

MFFI-422 is 100% correct except for a few things... The TRV-17 can save .MPG files to the memory stick... The TRV-17 has to have the LCD screen open to get at the controls... The TRV-17 sucks batteries like no tomorrow..... If you have the camera in a bonehead d-box, the trv-17 has to be taken out to get at the charge port..... example.... a fully charged fm50 on a trv-11 reads ABOUT 180 minutes.... take that battery off and put it on a TRV-17 and it will only read about 118 minutes I would rather have a used trv-11 than a new trv-17 If you are going to buy new, get a trv-30.... the still resolution is better...... Hey Dino, who loves you babe!

generally... before i can sell MY footage of YOU.... I have to get a release. If you pay me for a video, I sold you the footage... you DONT need a release. Like others have said... it changes from state to state.....

BUY THE OPTIC! ENOUGH SAID the optic has a 'riser block' molded into the helmet... it dont look like much, but it is just enough to richochet a riser away from the camera... the chin cup is better.... the quick release on the optic is on the chin cup, the quick releases on the hawkeye are on the helmet. You can escape from the optic with one hand, in one smooth motion.... the material used in the optic is more durable than the hawkeye... there is a reason the hawkeye is cheaper......

Which camera for Factory Diver helmet?
WmLauterbach replied to Milo's topic in Photography and Video
the best camera to use on the original sidewinders is a pc-1 the field of view isnt bad if you get a step up ring and a wide angle conversion lens.... The drawing on the shield is an impromtu sight..... here is an easier method when you ge ta camera for it. Put the helemt on, place the camera in "standby mode" have a friend look through the viewfinder on the camera and move your head until "something" ie a doorknob about 10 feet away is in the center of teh cameras viewfinder.... NOW..... get one of those looseleaf paper reinforcing stickers, and stick it on the shield so when you look through the hole in the sticker... you are looking at "the doorknob" Now when you look at something through the paper-hole... you will be seeing the saem as the camera is...... -
what do you want to shoot video for? If you are going to shoot tandems or RW, I would get a canon rebel, and a sony digital 8..... Digtal still cameras are expensive and you cant give the customer a roll of film ..... If you have a digital 8, you can get all of teh editing features available on a mini-dv for about 400 bucks less..... Besides, why buy a mini-dv... you are going to dub the tandem/RW video to an ANALOG vhs tape....... digital is wasted money DV tapes are more expensive.... and if you are trying to use the computer, sonys digtial8's have firewire ports..... If you are trying to make the cove rof parachutist magazine and want you video clips to show up on the next big holly wood production.... go for the high dollar digital stuff....

Dont trust anyone... If you are filming a four way or more-way, expect someone in the formation NOT to track away... be prepared for it. If you are filming AFF... expect the jumpmasters NOT to turn 180 degrees toward the head.... be prepared for that also. If you are filming head down...... expect someone below you to cork... uh, be prepared for that also. Know how to escape from your helmet... QUICKLY Dont jump a new canopy with a camera until you have jumped it WITHOUT a camera... Look for 'outs' EARLY.... A bad off DZ landing sucks, a bad off DZ landing with extra unbalanced weight on your head sucks more.... Remember that a camera sight conveiently doubles as something that obstructs your vision... PS.... it also acts as an ancor point for suspension lines Remember that while you are 'watching' the formation, NO-ONE is watching you... many are the camera men that have been taken out by an over zealous swooper trying to beat his buddy to the formation.... Be smart... you have a few extra pounds on your head that your next wasnt designed to carry.... you are carrying those pounds while conducting an activity that the human body wast vuilt for...... Be safe...

I have about 250 jumps with a bonehead d-box using a SONY trv-11 and trv-17 camera. There are a few pros and cons I have found... If the pads are cut right, and the strap is tight, there is no camera shake.... Pro's No need to screw the camera to the helmet. Easy to remove/replace Very secure You dont get any 'digital dropout' from the wind blast during the exit Con's You can not use the 'fader' button unless you drill a hole in the box. If the pads arent cut right, even the slightest bump to the top cover will activate the 'zoom' You cant use the viewfinder unless you cut a hole in the top cover. If you are shooting at night and using super night shot, the box will block the IR source. remember, this is with a trv style camera, a pc style box is a bit different
