    That's exactly the point. Depression is a mental illness. His brain told him, through it's faulty chemical and biological functions, that this was something that he should do. I don't see it as any different than people who cut themselves just to feel something. It doesn't make sense from the outside, and it most likely doesn't even make sense to the person doing it, but it still happens. Depression is an extremely insidious disease, one that unfortunately a lot of people suffer from. Jeez, this guy really needed to talk to someone. Too bad it took something so awful to get him the help he needs.
