Welcome! Have you read the dropzone reviews? You could write your own review if you want. All I've heard about Texel is that it's a Tandem factory. Gotta be more to it than that, right? t It's the year of the Pig.

They seem a bit brighter.. Cost was posted as $6.. but when I got to the till I was charged $2.70 each. quite a saving on 15 of them. Looks like the batteries are not changable, but the lights can be put in the wings and turned on 5 min before exit - so 16 hours will last a LONG time. I also got a few cycling strobes as well and just tossed the mounting stuff away. t It's the year of the Pig.

(I'm not stalking you.) The "watch the shadow" advise is really important. I know of several injuries caused by low turns to miss "the dude under the black canopy just below me." t It's the year of the Pig.

Hand altis: Which fingers do you wear the loop around?

Ditto. t It's the year of the Pig. -
That's exactly what I'm using - even bought at Walmart. They're lighter than chemical light sticks as well. t It's the year of the Pig.

I use a Foretrex 101 for wingsuiting. I went for the battery version because often I am where electricity is not, but a pocket full of tripple A's can go. t It's the year of the Pig.

I'm a working skydiver, but almost all my fun jumps are wingsuit dives. As for the night jumps.... that's WHY I got the red wings. No messing with others night vision. Of course, since then, I've found red lights and got myself wired... t It's the year of the Pig.

That's Beeblebrox, bucco. That's Beeblebrox, bucco. (From both heads!) t It's the year of the Pig.

How often do you do three-ring maintenance?
Tonto replied to LuvToFly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd really like to know how people flex the webbing without disassembly. That sounds like rubbish to me. I do it with disassembly every 30 days, and usually leave the risers disconnected from Monday to Friday. It's simple when the rig is packed. t It's the year of the Pig. -
I'm not a rigger, but have access to two tame master riggers.

you mean like this article from the "Safety and Training" - "Safety Articles" - "Gear and Equipment" - "Some tips on buying your 1st rig" off the home page? t It's the year of the Pig.

I have 2 mains, bought both 2nd hand off this site and relined them, both well over 1000 dives, both working fine giving me good swoops in high and hot conditions. t It's the year of the Pig.

How accurately do you record your freefall time?
Tonto replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A one second error a jump for 4500 jumps is 1 hour 15 min... How accurately do you think you should log? t It's the year of the Pig. -
Should there be underage skydiving?
Tonto replied to pacncathyjr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
er, that's sister. In SA you can skydive from 16, with parental consent under 21. And Tandems are no problem. My Daughter did 2 with me when she was 8, and still nags me for more... t It's the year of the Pig. -
OK. We're in agreement on the origional poster. I'm sorry if I got defensive. t It's the year of the Pig.
-
Agreed. More to the point, why are you calling me sick and asking me the question? Why don't you ask the origional poster? t It's the year of the Pig.
-
Care to elaborate? t It's the year of the Pig.

Well, off you go then. One thing I can tell you. Youll never feel quite the same way about the sport. Right now, you live in an idyllic kingdom. Soon, you'll see we need to feed our friends to the dragon to enjoy our lifestyle. t It's the year of the Pig.

One of my rigs has no cypres. The other expires in 2 months. I'll keep jumping without them. 12 years I've had one - and never needed it once. WHAT A WASTE! t It's the year of the Pig.
-
It's completely, excessivly extra normal. Enjoy your jump! t It's the year of the Pig.

Well... just a matter of time then! Remember to send me the details I need to get to Mark to clear you for flight, OK? Your friendly nylon crack dealer, t It's the year of the Pig.

I don't know. (But I'm also in South Africa.) After 18 cutaways though, I now have 2 PD 126R's in my rigs. I'm tired of Tempo's with built in turns, and riggers in other parts of the work pointing out things they've never seen before when packing a Predator. I thought long and hard about this last year, and when I was at Square One, I paid several hundred more dollars than I would have paid for a Smart. Maybe it's marketing, but I figure that few hundred dollars, spread over the next decade and maybe 3000 or 4000 more skydives... how much more is it really costing you? And after 20 years skydiving, if I'm a victim of marketing - there must be a reason for that. I've had one reserve malfunction. Do you really want the cheapest reserve money can buy? I don't. t It's the year of the Pig.
