Hello to all, great to be here.NERVES OR FEAR
loflyer replied to markymarc's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hey Mark! Good Luck on your AFF.. It is a bit more intense than a Tandem, but I'm sure you will be fine...I too, started skydiving later on in life (always wishing I had started when I was younger), but once your in the sky, that awesome feeling just keeps getting better. I wasn't nervous about my Tandem, but after sitting thru the First Jump Course, learning about Malfunctions & Emergency Procedures, it will make you start thinking a lot harder since it is "YOU" that has to make the decision & react to it. Im sure you will do great! Keep us informed on how the AFF goes.. Where are going to do the AFF Training at? Welcome to this wonderful sport & the awesome people you will meet along the way. BLUE SKIES! -
Helping low jump number skydivers

Good for you! I feel exactly the same way... I am the exact same way. I have around 500 jumps, but I love going out with people who are low # jumpers, & show them how mcuh fun this sport really is. I agree with what you said, about all the Skygods who will only jump with people that are as "good" as them or better! I love jumping with people who don't have very many jumps, and when we land, the smile on their faces & the excitement in their voices. You know, we all have been there, & the way I look at, is if we don't encourage these jumpers, what will happen to the future of this wonderful, awesome sport. TWO THUMBS UP TO YOU! Blue Skies..... -
Skydiving Injuries: Truthfully...Do You...
loflyer replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, to answer your questions, 5 yrs ago, on my 30th jump, I was practicing flying with my rear risers after one of my first 4 ways. The jump was awesome, but the landing wasn't. Because of high winds, I landed a little off the landing area, and my left foot went into a Kitfox hole, and the rest of me kept going! Compound Fracture Tib/Fib! 8 months of having an external fixture on my leg, the only thing I could think of, was getting back in the air. As soon as the External fixture was removed, they put me in a walking cast,(since I had to learn to walk again)! And I convinced one of our Tandem Instructors to take me for a jump! Well, after that I thought, no big deal I can handle it, but I ended up causing myself more pain than anything! Every jump I would make, my left leg from my knee to my ankle would double in size. It has been 5 years & I'm still having problems with it swelling & severe joint pain. I now know, to give a injury sufficient time to heal properly & to do some rehabilitation on it, to make sure it is 100%! The way i look at it, there is always "next week" but causing severe damage to bones & joints, will cause you problems the rest of your life! -
I was probably 6 or 7, growing up in Taft, Ca I use to see those big "Round" things floating around the sky! I remeber telling my mom, " I want to do that", and her telling me,"Girls don't do that, it's to dangerous." Well, 5 yrs ago, I had a birthday coming up, & wanted to do something really extreme, so I decided to do a Tandem Skydive! Well 500 jumps later, guess what? Girls Do Skydive! My parents still think I'm crazy, but have learned to accept it!

Welcome back to the forum! What kind of student program did you do? AFF? Tandem Progression? I know at one of my local DZ's, since you have been out of the sport for awhile, they will usually make you go back and do a level 5 or 6, with one jumpmaster, but this is if you did the AFF jump course as a student. Whatever it takes, do it! I know, i did the AFF Level 1 - 4, quit for a year, & then came back! Once you are in the sky, it will all come back to you. Good Luck!

Hey Fast1, I think you should go with #3. I think it would look great on a upper arm. I have a tat on my right lower leg, it is actually a photo of me under canopy on a sunset jump. I've had alot of people tell me it looks like the Elsinore logo, but I know who it is & what it means to me! It was my first jump back after a bad injury, "Learning to Fly Again".. Let us know which one you decide on! Blue Skies!

WOW! That pic really makes you think!!! We will have a skyvan at our locat DZ in a couple of weeks, you bet I will take a look (or two) before exiting. Have a great weekend! Blue Skies!
