  1. I have to agree with some of the previous posters who stated that "anyone" can wear a closing pin necklace! It is "ONLY" jewelry. Two weeks ago, we got our new plane (PAC 750) at Skydive Taft! And we have a new pilot also.. Her name is Connie & she is awesome! She is fairly new to the skydiving world & she so wants to learn everything their is to learn about this awesome sport... She asked me about my closing-pin necklace & asked if she could wear one?? I told her, "Of Course".. I am going to surprise her this week end with one!!!
  2. You guys are going to love it! We got our PAC 750 last weekend,(SKYDIVE TAFT) it is an awesome plane! On safety day, it was Awesome! I coordinated with the pilots to actually do an Emergency Exit drill (or hop-n-pop) & the load was full! It was a great training experience & everyone, including the pilot, was impressed! Have fun with your new plane! The PAC 750 rocks!
  3. OK, call me crazy.. :)But I have read the SIM, & read exactly what you said, but what I was wondering is what is the pro's and con's to releasing the toggles in the first place... Having one canopy in full flight & the other in 1/2 brakes, just doesn't seem to be a better alternative. I fly a Saber 150 (main) & a PD 143 (reserve) so of course my main would definetly be the dominant canopy, but what would this do to the reserve that is still in 1/2 brakes??? And would this be harder or easier than leaving the toggles stowed & flying both canopies??? I know this is the suggestion, but just courious as to the benefits of releasing the toggles??? I went thru the AFF program about 8yrs ago, so I guess I really question new ideas on malfunctions & how to handle them with the adavances of all these new High Performance Canopies..
  4. [;)I heard at my DZ this past weekend, that they have been doing some experimental testing concerning flying/controlling a two canopy out situation. From what I understand, the original way of flying a two (square) canopy out situation by flying the rear outside risers of both canopies (in a side by side)is not what they are suggesting now... I was told that one Canopy Manufacturer is saying to release the toggles on the more "dominant" canopy and fly that canopy... I was just wondering if anyone else has info on this....
  5. Merry Christmas to you & your family. I wish you lots of fun & safe jumping this new year. Welcome to the wonderful world of skydiving & may the new year bring you LOTS OF BLUE SKIES

  11. All I can say is WOW... This weekend at Skydive Taft, I had the pleasure of doing CRW with Frank Lupica, Cheryl Michaels & Brett Clarkson (I hope I got everyone's name correct). But what an experience... On our third jump we built a 4 stack, then a Diamond... This was so totally awesome.. I know I still have so much to learn, & can not wait to do it again, and again, and again. Thanks Frank,Cheryl & Brett for all your encouragement & instruction. IM HOOKED.... Blue Skies Everyone.. Lori

  13. Have my own office! With a great few of the mountains, big comfortable chair, my stereo & my computer, so I can email anyone that I really want to talk to... And the best thing is, I only have to see my boss when I want to.. He leaves me pretty much alone, (probably because Im doing his job too!)
  14. Congratulations & Welcome to the sky... This sport is sooooooooooooo amazing, & the people are just Awesome!!! Let us know how the training goes... Blue Skies... Lori
  15. Brian, I know what you are going through! I broke my leg on my 30th jump (after running into a kit fox hole). I was out of the sport for 9 1/2 months! When I was heading out to the dropzone for my first jump back, my kids started crying & asking me not to go... I had to explain to them that skydiving was a big part of my life, & that I take every precaution to keep from hurting myself. They knew how much I loved this sport & how much skydiving is a part of my life. Only after my oldest daughter did a Tandem, did she finally realize what I had been trying to explain to them about the feeling of "flying". Has your wife ever jumped? Does she go the DZ with you when you jump? Just try to be understanding of her feelings, & hopefully she will get more comfortable with the thought of you jumping. My family still thinks Im nuts (which I guess I am), but they have gotten use to it, but still worry. This sport is really hard for some people to understand why we feel the need to throw ourselves out of planes, I always reply, "Don;t knock it until you try it" Have a great first jump back.. Blue Skies
