I would look at doing different exits as an advantage - since you'll need to do those kinds of exits later anyway, this way you'll have some familiarity with them when the time comes. On my first coach jump out of IAF this Sunday, I did a diving exit with the coach for the first time (my only other diving exit was solo - very dissimilar) and tumbled because I was so focused on part of the exit technique that were new (leg & arm position) that I had a brain fart and forgot to arch. This message has a good suggestion for improving leg awareness clicky Blue skies _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

Don't let it get you down - my instructor told me that this is by far the most common student mistake. I certainly had the problem. What I was doing was putting my legs in the correct position, the moving on to think about other things and my legs would drift back up. Today, on that theme, I was so focused on a new exit for my first coach jump that I forgot to arch properly and tumbled. No big thing - just another excuse to jump

I'd vote for Clint Eastwood, but from your list I'd have to say John McClane. Blue Skies John _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

Was my first jump experience normal?
Flyer2Diver replied to bubbadrop's topic in Introductions and Greets
Not only do you remember more in subsequent jumps, they seem to get longer too. I just did my high solo jump yesterday and it seemed much longer than the "working" IAF jumps. Blue skies _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006 -
I did the same at the Ranch yesterday, that high solo rocks! Now gotta do those coach jumps today. Congrats! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

Welcome! Piloting and skydiving go well together (just not usually in the same flight ). I did an x/c flight this morning and will be jumping this afternoon - yeah! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

I had been in Las Vegas flying aerobatics (which they knew about & approved of). I called home after skydiving (which wasn't something I'd planned to do - just sorta happened) - and said to my mother that I'd done something she wouldn't be happy about. It took her one guess "you didn't go SKYDIVING did you?" - I just laughed and she knew (but it was better since I'd obviously survived the experience). My mother loves to worry, but at the end of the day she knows that I'm an adult and don't take stupid risks. I even showed them the video from my first tandem. She still doesn't want me to tell her before I'm going, but when I say "I'm going to be out all day Saturday", she kinda knows what I'm up to. I'm sure my name will be mud after I take my brother out to the DZ for his first tandem tomorrow (weather permitting). Oh well, they'll get over it. Yeah - amazing for sure - today I did 7,8 and 9, including a solo diving exit. Yeah baby! Hope the winds keep playing along tomorrow for my coach jumps! Blue skies & calm winds! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

I had such a teriffic day of jumping today I just had to post about it. Last Saturday I sat around all day waiting for the wind to calm down which it never did. Today, winds were forecast to be light. Turned out to be a perfect day weather-wise. Did three jumps - IAF 4,5 & 6. Wearing my own rig for the first time was AWESOME! I was able to keep stable and did well with the maneuvers, and I'm finally beginning to relax. Canopy flight was a blast too. On my second jump, I was able to pull off a standup landing right in the middle of the peas. My biggest mistake was backsliding (I wasn't keeping my legs far enough out) but at least I know what I need to do to fix that. Thanks to Pete, my IAF instructor at The Ranch for helping me learn this stuff so fast & keeping it fun. I love this!!

I spend some time in Lugano and Zurich and enjoyed it a lot. My sister went to The American School and had a great time there too. Beauteful scenery, friendly people, and great ice cream

That's super cool! I remember the day I passed my checkride - one of the best in my life! Another suggestion would be a few hours of aerobatic lessons in an Extra 300 - I recently did that in Las Vegas and it was fantastic. The Extra is just a blast to fly. I think it made me a better pilot too. Here's where I did my lessons: Clicky Best of luck & congrats in advance! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

NASA used C-130s to catch film from Corona, no, not that Corona, the first US spy satellite. It amazes me that they were able to even find something that small falling through such a big sky and hook it without tangling in the prop. I'm in NYC and doing tandem progression at The Ranch now - just finished my tandems last Saturday, next time (after the course this Sunday hopefully) I wear a rig myself.

As long as it's not for business, I love traveling. I used to like business travel too, but that has gotten real old, real fast! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" by Barry White - classic Or, on the low side of classy, how about "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew > Ohh, me so horny > Me love you long time > "I'm like a dog in heat, a freak without warning, I have an appetite for sex, cuz me so horny..." Or even further off the bottom end of the classy scale, how about "Gangster of Love" by the Geto Boys - that song is F'n hilarious! _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

If you right-click on "My Computer", then go to properties (I think) - then "device manager" - you should be able to see the video card showing up. If you can determine what model video card is installed, you should be able to go to the manufacturer's web site and download the appropriate driver - which will give you access to added resolution/colors (if it supports it, I suggest at least 65k colors, rather than only 256) Blue Skies John _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

Here's my attempt - I converted it to b&w, adjusted contrast all the way up, played with brightness, then re-colorized with adjust>hue/saturation Blue Skies John _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

When I did my first jump it was just for the thrill of it. I had no idea, and I'm sure most whuffos have no idea, what a great group of people are involved in the sport! Thanks! Welcome - from one newbie to another. I was in the same situation last week and decided to do a Tandem to experience skydiving. It was an amazing experience and now I'm totally sure I want to go forward with AFF training. Now my only problem is waiting for warmer weather before I can start! Enjoy _______________________________ 30005KT 10SM SKC 23/05 A3006

Greetings all - Well there I was in Las Vegas last weekend, doing some aerobatics flight lessons in an Extra 300 and having a great time, and it just so happened that my instructor had been a professional skydiver in a past life. He suggested that I try a jump. You can probably all guess what happened next. I ended up doing two tandem jumps and having an fantastic time! Now back in NY where it's been snowing (ugh!) - can't wait for warmer weather so I can start training. (probably at The Ranch)
