Based on the result of the poll, clearly we have different opinions and views regarding this subject. There is a lot of emphasis on sex & first date. Should you, shouldn't you? Will he/she think I am a tart? Do I really want to wake up to him/her? Do I want to see him/her again? There are lists of pros and cons on sex & first date, but just to list a few sex & first date pros You need to test him/her to see if he/she can live up to your expectations in the sack. After all you don’t want to fall for him/her only to find out he/she doesn’t have a clue how to please. You think this is "The One," so why hold back? You've never had a one night stand and want to experience it just once. You feel less inhibited with a virtual stranger. Sex makes you feel confident, etc…. sex & first date cons He/she might think of you as easy, a tart. If he/she is worth it you can wait. He/she doesn’t look as attractive in the morning and neither do you. You wake feeling vulnerable. You may not respect each other. One-night stands last one night. Fast in, fast out, etc…. Bottom line is Whatever the list maybe…. There's no question of right or wrong. That's a value judgment which reflects society's double standards on sex, particularly with regard to women. It also does not take into account the gender differences in approach to sex which often dictates the situation. In simple bald terms, for most men, sex is a form of release, which may or may not lead to any kind of committed relationship. They really see women as the vehicle for that release and expect, or at least hope, that a woman is going to give in when the moment seems opportune. However, when they do get what they want, especially when a relationship is the furthest thing from their mind, many retreat to avoid making any kind of commitment, because the very act would have colored their view of that person. Men want sex, yes, but they hope you resist. Once you give in, you're regarded as 'easy'. On the other hand, for most women, having sex is a prelude to something else, to the possibility of a long term relationship. Sexual overtures are also tied up with personal appeal and how a woman feels about herself. To be desired and wanted is very powerful, so few women can resist such seduction, especially when a man will try anything to get it. We always do what we believe is right for us at that particular moment, regardless of the consequences. Our decisions have nothing to do with anyone else's approval or disapproval. Dating is fun, exciting and thrilling. The thrill and excitement that you feel when someone you are attracted with will go out for a walk, for a movie, to dine and to laugh, to dance and to drink, and perhaps….sex?
