  1. I read those articles and the concept is a no brainer, but my question was to anyone with the experience of flying two very different sized wings (same model)at the SAME wing loading HOW MUCH of a performance difference there was. There are probably very few if any people that have flown the same canopy model at the same wing loading, like I said you would have to either gain a ton of weight and upsize or lose a ton and downsize. Thats the perspective I am looking for. Thanks for the input though.
  2. Would it be safe to say then that the big (athletic) boys would typically run a slightly higher WL based on the same experience levels.
  3. Heres a general question hopefully someone who has gained or lost alot of weight in their career can answer. PD talks about higher wingloading having less affect on a larger canopy vs. obviously the smaller. My question is how much of a difference is there? Lets say you had a Safire2 189 at 1.3 and a 149 at 1.3 how drastic would the performance be based on canopy size alone? Not many people have had the oppurtunity to fly both scenarios at the same wing loading. There must be Jenny Craig skydiving team somewhere. LOL
  4. In reply to hope there wasn't any wind. Besides the spotting issue, there is also the adverse affect of winds in general on such a large lightly loaded canopy. Disclaimer - I dont know Sh!t from shinola. Thats no joke.
  5. I am an athletic build 210lb w/o gear. I was flying a 240 through the second half of AFF. And have been flying a 230 rental gear for a bit. On the 230 I am sitting at 1.1:1 . Reading the article on wingloading from PD they mention that there is a difference with wingloading and effects depending on canopy size. I am wondering how much of a difference there would be between a 190 loaded at 1.3 and a 150 or 135 at the same loading. Basically what I am saying is in your opinions is a larger semi loaded at 1.2 - 1.3 ok for a first (purchased) canopy? Of course you should always check with your instructors (i know, i know). Just looking for opinion BTW I have never not had a stand up landing and am very aware in the air.
  6. Someone already sent me those exact lines. Has that shirt already been printed?
  7. No biggie, Like I said earlier my creativity is LACKING and my sense of humor is different from most. Thats why I am turning to you guys to flat out tell me what you want to see. In reality any idea I come up with will never get printed, its gonna be the things you guys comeup with that end up being printed. I saw a sign at Perris that said CAUTION Propellers rip heads off. I think thats funny too. Most wouldn't.
  8. Just cause we draw something doesnt mean we are going to print a few thousand shirts, we are just toying with different ideas. And we sorta looked into it, they have trademarked the guy exactly as he sits on the website which is always in the running position from the side. Our rendition is just a yellow stickman that looks very similar. Anyway I hear ya.
  9. Let me enlighten you........ Your situation may be different but when I put on my harness I develop a rather large bulge between my legstraps. It is a play on the aol guy who would say "you"ve got mail" As far as the shadow goes well we were drinking and it is extremely rough.
  10. Check out this pic and let me know what you think. We came up with this today over a couple brews. Of course it is rough but you get the idea. I think its funny but that usually means no one else does.
  11. You have come up with some good sayings, keep em coming!!! I love sarcasm!!!
  12. QuoteOK, how's this. You know the winged tire from the Indy 500 insignia. Now imagine that's a winged anvil(with those vertical lines that give the impression it is falling) that's superimposed over the lettering "200+" Have the letttering form a circular border around the around the illustration. Wording is "Team Anvil, Lead's got nothing on us!" Oh yeah, and have the shirts sizing begin at XL and go up form there. -Blind[/reply Lets keep in mind I like money, by making shirts for guys over 200# (like myself) I have cut down my laready small market of skydivers to 10-15% of the skydiving market. However if we get going and design several I will keep that in mind. Thanks for your input.
  13. We aren't trying to copy the same ole shiat. We need something fresh. It is a cool shirt though. Thanks for the input.
  14. Nothing against Go Fast at all but their shirts look a little too No Fearish to me, I want to make shirts that aren't so commercialized but still rock. Everyone seems to be leaning against any words at all. I think I am leaning more towards funny shirts (not goofy, lame or cheesy) but funny. Something someone might actually wear outside of their DZ. Also what is the preference long sleeve, short or both. BTW - Pink is absolutely out of the question.
  15. QuoteCool graphics man, I love 'em. As someone said, there are two types of T's. I want a Shit that can start a conversation with someone, will make them think about skydiving! Another Idea: Have you seen those shirts that people wear on the beach, like old ladies? They have a young body printed on them, they really make you look twice! Now... Make a shirt that has a rig printed on it, to make it look like you are wearing a rig! I'd buy it, when you do it, let me know! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I agree with shirts that start conversations and get grins or maybe even a laugh. Someone already did the rig printed on the front and back. I thought that was cool for about five minutes and then it wore off. I like the in your face one liners too but I need some examples. My creativity sucks!
  16. We aren't opposed to making several different designs. I have a TON of talent at my fingertips. I need something I can envision, a description of a picture, a catchy phrase that makes you laugh etc.
  17. No offense to anyone...... however most of the shirts I have seen look like they come straight out of that 70's show.
  18. I love it, there seems to be some gender related fun competition. What would you like to see if I were to make a shirt ONLY for the women???? I have already started on the one for the guys. (cause thats easy) I need your input. Thanks.
  19. Exactly my thoughts so far..... nothing cheesy but something you, me and the rest of society can understand. The head down 4-way seems to be popular, but would you really buy a T or long sleeve with just a simple ole pic of a 4 way head down?
  20. Heres my issue, there are about 200 different skydiving t's. Of those I would buy and or wear about ten of them. I am new to the sport and have a very good friend who does 3D work for movies and produces commercials etc. Anyway I have convinced him to make some skydiving clothing with me. I need to know what YOU would like to see on the next few shirts produced. You can email your ideas etc to me directly if you wish. Jcarroll@mcwnetworking.com FYI - If we end up sending shirts to press based on YOUR idea you will be compensated.
  21. For now my plan is to get back to the tunnel every ten jumps or so. Especially right now during my solo jumps, everything feels great but for all I know I am sliding off into oblivion. Looking forward to my coach jumps to see my progression. Oh and the calendar was already marked. A couple of my good friends own a 3d studio and they are going to help me produce some skydiving related clothing. Where should I look for peoples input on what they would like to see. I have noticed that a good majority of the t-shirts etc. are borderline cheesy (my opinion).
  22. I completed AFF a week or so ago at Perris. Now coming around to my 15th jump I have already got my G3 and my safire2 ready to go. Addicting ......hmmm.... I don't think so. Not quite ready to jump it, I have a to transition through one more canopy, but I had to have it. Anyway likin Perris, loved the tunnel. I have done alot of "fun" things in my day, but this takes the cake!!!!
