  1. No, they aren't. I would not count on them. Hotels are cheap, tents are free at all. No reason to go for the bunkhouse.
  2. No. Never buy anygear just because you can get a good deal.
  3. First of all, spiralling down is the easy way to miss traffic. Your vision is greatly changed because your body is not in plain vertical position. Collisions under canopy are very dangerous. Second, in a turn your canopy loose altitute quickly. So you may go low on your big wing, even lower than some experienced jumpers with pocket-rocket-canopies. People would not be happy with that because they will be forced to change their landing pattern. Third, when you start jumping bigways, there will be a lot of people everywhere in the air. Spiralling down is the best way to collide with somebody else. And the last but not the least reason: rules. On some DZs (for example Aerograd Kolomna) spiralling is strictly forbidden. It's all about safety. Plus, please, ask your instructor and S&TA about spiralling. They will definitely give you more reasons to stop that practice.
  4. Oh, come on! Tents are a godbless except on those hazy&rainy days.
  5. Please, never do that. Spirallng down is always a bad idea. Especially if you have lightly loaded wing.
  6. Did anybody use Sigma 17-35 f2.8-4 lens?
  7. You see, one size does not fit all. My 1st canopy was loaded 1.33 but it didn't hurt. Well, I've got my own gear only when I was close to jump #100 and I've got some canopy coaching. I was fully confident in my abilites. I could do most or even all points from famous billvon's list. So when I've got broken line (after 150-200 jumps on that canopy) I just landed it using rears. It's always up to you. If you aren't sure that you can handle this canopy, you definitely CAN'T! Upsize and be sure you are safe jumper.
  8. In Russia Used 300D costs $500, new one (with kit lens) $700. 350D body costs at least $950, kit is $1050. That's lowest prices. If I could buy 350D for $720 I would definitely do that.
  9. Faster - yes, Smaller - well, I wasn't able to find big difference, with lenses 300D and 350D sizes are moe than comparable. Better - ??? Chaper - definitely NOT. An it is not proven yet... I'm in doubts. Is it worth the money? $400 at least for getting 350D body instead of 300D.
  10. It depends on size. I flew a 135 and riser pressure was not too high. You can swoop any canopy. It's not the canopy, it's the pilot.
  11. Sure I do! AARRHG, not again Well, I'm promise if I participate in 80+ way (this year, May, Kolomna) I will make some freefly jumps. That's going to be a lot of fun she would like to learn freeflying... but I can't coach her on this one.
  12. Landings are still nice at 1.5. Tried it twice. But I wouldn't say it swoops any better with 1.5 than with 1.4...
  13. He is fine. Had a SCARY cutaway few months ago (violent spin, cutaway at 600 meters -> tried to get stable -> Vigil fire at 330 meters -> fine landing). Scared the shit of of all people at the DZ... Only Crazy Doc could remain calm after all that mess Edited a bit (unclosed QUOTE tag makes message to look very ugly)
  14. Ask older jumpers and CRW-dogs. I know some CRW people cutting very frequently. More that 5 cutaways per year I believe.
  15. There's one more thing about this. Smaller canopies have better penetration than equally loaded bigger ones. Canopy planform and affects penetration as well.
  16. Aerograd is open through the winter. But the weather sucks It's nearly impossible to make more than 150 jumps from September to April.
  17. Oh sh... I was able to do just 200. And I'm livinig 130 km away from Kolomna! AltiChick freeflew? Never know that
  18. OMG! What a setup! Now i know where all those star trek thingies come from!
  19. Oh yeah... I was kinda surprised after opening in snowy clouds. My jumpsuit turns SNOWWHITE :)
  20. Now try the Safire1 There are a few of them now.
  21. ParAAvis has temporarily suspended Element production. PM me for more info.
  22. I would suggest Pilot. It flies quite flat.
