I agree with everything you said. Please get input from people that are not going to encourage you into something you're not ready for. My pet peeve in this sport, is that person trying to sell gear and don't care that what they are selling a newbie could kill or mame. The new kids need guidance and they need people out there that will look out for them. Good luck in looking...you are more than welcome to PM me for some guidance on gear and what you are looking for. I do have some gear available. Blue skies, Kaye

So are you saying that putting some poor innocent person's life in jeopardy for their pathetic ego is okay? Mike Hoogesteeden, who used to jump at Z-Hills, had his Vector tandem rating permanently revoked for doing this with a newswoman and having it aired on the 6:00 news. Thank God Bill Booth has integrity...so much for burned bridges. K

Marta & Jimmy from Apex (apexbase.com) have an awesome program. They offer some discounts on gear with the program. They are very experienced, patient people that will take time with anyone. Good luck. Kaye

Fly free Fred! You were one of the good guys...and will be sorely missed. Kaye

I would agree with the $400-600 range. I, personally, would replace the lines from the start knowing that I'll not have much to be concerned with regarding normal maintenance. I spoke to PD and the lineset is $195 plus shipping...figure another $150 (and that's reasonable) for the rigger cost to do the lineset. Have a rigger look at the canopy. If you're buying it online, have it shipped to your rigger before paying for it. If it needs the lineset, I would offer $300-350 to offset the maintenance cost. Good luck, Kaye

8 days and 20 mins...I'm with ya...this sucks...it's getting better, but damn...wish I would have never started!

dude, you don't have a clue of who he is or what he's managed...he's not living vicariously through anything or anyone. got your back EPX...love ya & see ya soon! k

i'd imagine it has to do with the rsl issue. some jumpers have a tendancy of sending their gear to the mfr to make sure it's done in accordance...or, their rigger is only a sr. the rsl issue has to be resolved with a master rigger. k

There was a nice canadian couple that videoed a bunch of us that got hurt at the POPS meet 2004, they sold the video to RealTV without ever checking with any of us that were hurt. The wife, who was doing the video, went so far as to zoom in when the ambulance guys were taking us away. Some months later I saw it on TV and it was all fresh in my mind yet again and continued to be aired. I got an attorney to pressure RealTV to pull the plug on the video. I wasn't interested in the money, I just didn't ever want to see it again...the memory was enough. K

yeah, a friend of mine pounded in memorial day 04, that was the end of his jumping career...the only reason i wasn't there was because i pounded on a skydive 6 weeks or so earlier. condolences to the family and friends of this young man. k

How much different type of instructors should earns?

You may want to check out the FAR's. If you are an instructor and making this statement, then you definitely need to review your materials. -
obviously you've never jumped Mr. Mullins' rocket ship. And for reasonable jump prices, at that.

If we have all the little pigs that are supposed to be there, it'll be like maybe 15 pigs this year. In 1998 & 1999, Smitty, Tad & I were it...everyone laughed at us and now look at the crew. TJ was an awfully good little pig this year, though. Everyone told him, if cameras are pointed at you, give 'em a good geeking...Sports Illustrated is pretty cool. Hey Nathan, I dare you! Double Dare You!!! HeHeHe!
-
And you're whining because TJ is getting all this attention? Do you want some cheese to go with that whine? LOL!
-
Are you saying you'll be a willing participant? LOL! Maybe you can get Jimmy to dress up with you? How 'bout it? Too bad we never got Punk porked! K
-
TJ you're a lesbian?
-
Nathan, you going to get porked this year? HeHeHe! Talk to that guy with the house to the east (with the redheaded wife, you know who I'm talking about) to see if he'll sponsor you for the BD initiation. You have to be willing to be laughed at in a big way! Get your uniform together, you have six months to accomplish the task, register for BD and we'll have fun! We always need more pigs! K
-
Naw Ghetto, just mama pig...LOL! Until last year, I was THEE girl pig at BD. Gotta admit, he's a pretty scrawny little piglet...need to fatten him up, but then he wouldn't be able to "move" as fast. K

I'm sorry, but I disagree on the prices of pack jobs. When I started skydiving 11 years ago, the prices were what they are now. Let's remember, packing for others REQUIRES a rigging ticket, even though most don't bother. Let's also remember, the only people that the FAA goes after when something happens, are the riggers and the pilot, the licensed individuals. Some of the more reputable DZs are recognizing how the people that keep the planes moving, the gear packed and the instructors safe, are the most underpaid and coming up on the pay. I have 3 tandem masters that I pack for that pay $15 + tip out (or buy dinner and beers) at the end of the day. The price of gas has gone up, the price of jump tickets has gone up, the price of gear has gone up. If we looked at the average increase of the various prices, riggers should be getting $20 for tandems, $12 for student rigs and $10 for sport packs. Oh, and those unlicensed "packers" should be paying the riggers $2.00 per pack job for working under that riggers license. Just my opinion, $.02 and outlook on the economy. K -
TJ Honey, you're world famous after BD 06...LOL!!! Sports Illustrated, the university forum, and all those other shots distributed, it's easy to get pics of you. And you look great in PINK!!! What a good little pig...blame that guy with the house to the east and his little redhead wife... LOL! K
