Ok so we are relocating and gradually clearing things out from the house and garage, after nearly 30 years there.. Quite a few items which are still good and useful, but for which we have a bit LESS room,,,,, at the new place... NOT really inclined to sit all day and "host " a yard sale... but i hate to just toss everything... Soooo.. I'm thinking to set up some tables near the well traveled public sidewalk out front and to post a sign.... with wording something to the effect of.... Honor System Yard Sale !! take whatever you can Use and Pay what it is worth, to You. Limit 4 items, per person. Please don't Take my tables... I'd figure to fasten a lockable money box to one of the tables and trust to the decency of folks to put a few bucks into it,,,, for anything that they might want.. Good idea??

Right Now,,, I am On THREE diets..... I wasn't getting nearly Enough to EAT.....on One !!!

What do you say to someone before a jump?

How ?? By treating the "radicals", radically !!! Notify the area that in 72 hours... we WILL detonate a nuclear explosion in that part of the world... Then,,,DO It, as a real-life demonstration of the horror and wide spread destruction of such arms,,, and to show, that "What Iran Wants", is far more devastating, than even THEY can imagine....Give the citizenry 3 days to evacuate and then figure out Where the greatest concentration of ISIS Zealots are located and target THAT area.... Too bad so Sad.. Now the area currently being fought over,,, will be a wasteland. No one will want it.. travel through it will be impossible, and those trying to "occupy " it will be foiled... Owe it up to karma.... for THEM...Impress the zealots with what REAL power is... up close & and IN their back yard.... Make Each of the ISIS fighters martyrs....send them to "their reward"....Leave things for Iran to clean up and fix... Teach them the message that "this stuff is serious business" Clear All of our manpower, equipment, bases, and personnel OUT, and do NOT return... Harsh???? yes. Outrageous ? Maybe.... But taking the approach to Cut off the Heads of those with whom you disagree,, is no less vile and is ON a personal level... Create a wasteland of their "homeland"...and leave it for them to brew upon..Keep the size of the detonation sensible, yet effective... and Notify Tehran... that the next one will mark the Center of that City.... Don't Do it.... and who Knows how worse things will get....?? ISIS is not only destroying the peace and geographic borders in that area, but also Ancient artifacts, architecture, museums and art.... They ARE waaay out of control and Take what they want...... Time to give them something,,,, they may NOT want.. Ok,,,, fire away.. I am ready for any sort of feedback.. jmy

The old AND bold skydiver list

I shared my "pre-second" Boeing 727 jump with Bob Roach and some of his friends from South Dakota... at Quincy Ill.. 1994 friendly and cordial guy. -
I jumped for decades using NO AAD and relying only an altimaster AND my internal clock.... That and an awareness of " Where we were" based on "what we were accomplishing "... For example,,,, IF we Finally GOT that 4 way...... we MUST be getting down there... Added the AAD upon realizing that "nobody is infallible " and then added a basic pro track...when I got into camera flying..When climbing to altitude I ALWAYS stay tuned into the single beep at One Grand... ( another good reason to be WEARING my helmet for take-off ) IF for some reason, failure to turn it on, or bad batteries,,, I Do NOT hear that beep.... I will register that fact... and remind myself NOT to count on the device for that skydive. It's also good to note that "old style " analog altimeters should Still be used... as it's possible and easy, to check ANY such device, within view, during a jump... Either on our own rig ... or else, one worn on a friends gear...

in all the years that I shot video for our Club, I worked in the tandem rotation BUT also videoed Every Fun jump that I made. Yes, we all enjoyed the post-dive debrief and we DID "see the jump, laugh, and learn " especially the 16 and 20 way dives which we shared... Never posted to FB... it wasn't around. BUT I DID want to have the sharpest, clearest, brightest footage possible... I prided myself on that and so always tried to keep up with "new and Improved " Camcorders. True , it ain't Hollywood... But poor quality can detract from great Positioning, great camera settings and great timing on the part of the camera person.... Nice work, on your helmet...

Things to think about when doing Helicopter jump...
jimmytavino replied to shorehambeach's topic in Safety and Training
sure thing Speer... it could well have BEEN that you and /or others were briefed, differently..... and in THAT case.... Yes, Maybe,, as long as the belt system is then snugged up ,, tight to the seat back....in a situation like a Helicopter... leaving only the Tail "flapping in the breeze" a lot less slack,,, in that scenario.. Just be sure,, as mentioned by others NOT to create that "dreaded foot snare ".. SAME thing in ANY jumpship,, from C 182 to a DC3 or more likely today, an Otter or Caravan... We sure don't want the late exiters and tandems to be caught by surprise...... right??? and So i believe that the best rule is to stow them, unbuckled in just about all aircraft.. ymmv j -
working towards a job filming tandems at an Otter DZ
jimmytavino replied to chemist's topic in Tandem Skydiving
sure , Doug.. we are on the same page...I mentioned a Cessna DZ, as logistics there, would favor 2 TMs, and 2 First Timers, as likely to be a Full Load.. IF video is desired,,, the ONLY way to do it, while taking 2 Pair at a time,, is with hand-cam in That scenario I could see where a DZO,,, might be inclined to WANT everyone to be hand cam capable. Even the New TMs... Glad to hear that Your DZO does not favor that approach...til the instructor has eased into the role... sorry to have steered this discussion off track... the OP ,,,,, WAS asking about an Otter DZ... -
working towards a job filming tandems at an Otter DZ
jimmytavino replied to chemist's topic in Tandem Skydiving
wow.... i'd find another DZ.... I am not a TM but rather an outside video person.... I have learned that ANYthing that is new to a jumper, should be approached with care and respect.... HOW can a New TM be "comfortable " enough to add a hand cam,,,, on his or her early tandem jumps... sounds like were talking about a cessna DZ... anyway.... each may do as they please, just take Care.
