    I had trouble with this one. I did the front dive out the door, into sort of a half barrel roll, and ended up.....on my back. Rolled over, tried a front roll, and ended up on my back again. At this point decided to try back flips. What a blast! Did another for the fun of it, then it was time to pull. My instructor later said he was happy with how I did. I got unstable in a couple of ways, and got stable from each one. I'd still like to get front rolls down, but like most moves so far, it'll probably get easier as I get more familiar with freefall.     Hate to burst your bubble, but....... I live within 3 miles of I-40 in Arizona. It was 15 degrees here yesterday morning. I don't have a map handy so I can't help you with exact numbers, but you might consider dropping south through New Mexico to pick up 10 west, hit the Phoenix area DZ's (including Eloy), then duck north again on 17 to get to the Grand Canyon. __________________________________________________ Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt.     Closer is relative. You have to travel through some neighborhoods first before getting to the highway. Coming out of ORD you can probably cover the distance in equal time. I'd go with cheepest ticket. _________________________________________________ Not much. North on Cicero Avenue about 5 minutes takes you to I-55. Midway is smaller, which means faster luggage pickup, faster trip to the parking lots, less traffic getting out, etc. And, landing there is a thrill. You come in low enough over the neighborhood that you can read the signs in the window of the stores across the street. ________________________________________________ Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt.     Had to share this one. Ended up on the same flight with a friend of mine recently. He's a dermatologist. While catching up, the subject of in-flight medical emergencies came up. He said he'd answered a call for a doctor on a flight once. The emergency my dermatologist friend found waiting for him in first-class? A rapidly spreading rash. He examined it, determined it was a contact dermatitis, no facial edema or breathing difficulty, dosed the passenger with some antihistamine samples he happened to be carrying with him, and the flight continued. ______________________________________________ Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt.     Not during the day. But at 6 pm I take over first call until 7 am. I'm hoping for good weather, and safe travelling for everyone, so I get to sleep.     I've done 2 tandems (at Eloy), and hope to start AFF in a couple of months. So, no chance I'll be jumping during the boogie. But......my dad is coming out to visit, and I'll probably be driving to the Phoenix airport the weekend after Christmas to pick him up. If I'm making the 2 1/2 hour drive there, I thought it might be worth it to extend the trip another hour and visit. So, would it be worth it? Will I, a not-yet skydiver just be in the way with all the real jumpers? Or will there be enough happening on the ground, and enough friendly folk and stuff to do to keep me happy? _____________________________________________ Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt.
