  1. This is meant to be a fun thread. What sort of things have you discovered, learned, or figured out since you've been skydiving that have nothing at all to do with the actual process of skydiving. Let's see, I've discovered that a VW tire iron can be used to hammer in tent stakes. If it's too windy to jump, it'll be a bear packing up your tent to leave. You can't use Chap-Stik too often. Personal attacks

Continuing in the same spirit, what if I reply saying, "That is the most accurate, insightful, precise thought you could express. I am in awe of your understanding and wisdom."[sly Disclaimer; This is a rhetorical question asked in response to what appears to be a rhetorical question. Although actual persons have asked and responded, any similarity to their true characteristics is purely coincidental and happend purely by chance. 4. Usual Sunday run at Buffalo Park. Maybe church. If church, hope Holly is there so I can regale her with skydiving stories, and maybe get her back in the air. Then Easter buffet at Little America with hubby. Later, pack for my trip to Eloy for as many days of skydiving as I can get in. google yourself

I did that once a few years ago and found my name and degree on the phone roster of a place I had just interviewed. Guess they liked me. 8. A few things have fallen off over time, as the desire decreased and I've accepted my limitations. I don't think I'll ever swim the English Channel. Some things will probably go back on when I see better how my life plays out, and what I need to do to complete it. The one thing that's been there unwaveringly is: Sing 'Carmena Burana'. Red Dwarf

It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere. I'm all alone, more or less. Let me fly, far away from here, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun. I want to lie, shipwrecked and comatose, drinking fresh mango juice. Goldfish nose (?), nibbling at my toes, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun. 13. For additional discussion, please see http://ranchskydive.com/safety/tb_article10.htm Tom Buchanan EMT-B S&TA Author JUMP! Skydiving Made Fun and Easy This seems like as good a place as any to toss out this idea, considering how many medical personnel have chimed in on this thread. Would there be a need, or any interest, in a forum for the medical issues in skydiving? I'm thinking it might be a way to share information about emergency procedures at DZ's, what equipment is kept there, what individuals might keep handy themselves in case of emergency, what has worked well, or not worked well, etc. Any thoughts? BTW, I thought that was an excellent article. I'm going to go look to see if there's anything similar for my home DZ. 14. I think focusing on gay/lesbian issues in family law could include much more than just families breaking up. Some of the things heterosexuals take for granted when they get married are not automatic for same-sex couples. Adoptions, child custody in the event of biological parent's death, the right to make medical decisions for the partner, inheritance, are all examples of issues that same-sex couples might need legal help to settle before they become crises. I'm thinking there might already be a need for lawyers to specialize in some of these matters, regardless of what happens to the marriage stuff. Euchre

Oh man, oh man, oh man. My schedule one summer at school in northern Michigan went something like this: Get up, shower and dress, go to dorm lobby and play euchre until the cafeteria opened. Eat breakfast. Sit in lobby playing euchre until time to go to class. Go the class. Back to dorm, sit in lobby and play euchre until the cafeteria opened for lunch. Eat lunch, sit in lobby and play euchre until time to go to class. Go to class. Back to dorm, sit in lobby playing euchre until cafeteria opened. Eat supper. Study. Take frequent breaks to the dorm lobby to play euchre until bed time. Go to bed. Repeat daily. Weekends, we'd gather at someone's house to barbecue, drink beer and play euchre. I don't miss Michigan winters, but I do miss euchre. Judith-edited to include beer Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt. Why's that so hard to understand?

  20. Welcome back! I loved your posts about your AFF jumps. I read them as I was contemplating my own impending AFF, and they gave me a preview of what I had to look forward to. AFF 6 was my favorite. I didn't get the hang of front flips even after 2 tries, but back flips were a kick! And, finding myself on my back and recovering without any problems 2 times gave me a big infusion of confidence. My instructor told me he was pleased that I was able to recover easily from any instability I'd gotten myself into. Oh, I missed something in here. If it's not too personal, what sort of medical problems did you have? Was it the vertigo you developed? Chaos

When you've reached the point of desperation, go to Yahoo, sign in to their 'groups', and join something called 'Flylady'. This started with a couple of women who wrote a book about cleaning up and getting organized. Their followers are a bit rabid. Once you've signed up, you'll get frequent emails directing you to do certain tasks. Each week, they focus you on a certain part of the home, with a different task every day. Each task will take about 15 minutes, and it really makes a difference over time. Oddly, they always harp on having a clean kitchen sink. Why? Because you have to start somewhere, and that's where they start. I un-joined after a couple of weeks, because the incessant emails started to feel like nagging. Also, they are oriented toward a female, do-all-the-housework, keep the home fires burning, take care of the kids and make hubby happy division of labor. But if you need directions on *exactly* what to do today to get your home in order, they'll do it. 23. I learned to ride on my then boyfriend's BSA 500. (single, talk about a thumper!) The first bike I owned was a Honda CB125. Then doubled to a Yamaha 250, then doubled again to a Suzuki 500. 24. I had a Suzuki GS500E back in 1990 or so, when it first came out. It was a great bike. It was versatile. I rode it to work and school year round, as well as from California to New York and back. It was also a blast on mountain twistys. The only thing I changed to ride cross-country was the handgrips. A new seat would have been nice. If you get one, learn from my experience. At 24,000 miles, despite having all the scheduled maintainence done, the timing chain stretched and the whole top end got warped. I got $200 for it for salvage. You might not be as comfortable as I was. I'm ony 5'3". Judith ____________________________________________ Imelda Marcos just wanted some cute shoes that didn't make her feet hurt.
