Tom Ridge says Al Qaeda preparing "large-scale attack"
tunaplanet replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
That damn Bush. He's evil. It's all another mass conspiracy. Those bastards! Forty-two -
#1 Everyone is capable of mistakes...small and big. #2 He's our man. Liberal, conservative, it doesn't matter. He is our leader. Too many people forget that (not you in particuliar). People become so hell-bent on being a party sheep that they forget that in the end we're all on the same side. Bush is our leader. He is our man. You may not like him but regardless, he's the one I would follow to hell and back. I would follow Kerrey to hell and back. Just because I don't like a person doesn't mean I will give him less respect. The POTUS deserves and demands everyones respect and devotion...regardless of your political scope. Forty-two

Who said he was infallible? Forty-two

Like I said...interesting theory you have. Forty-two

Interesting opinion. Probably way off the mark, however. Forty-two

According to the liberals...yes. Forty-two

She is my prediction as VP in 08. Giuliani/Rice. That, my friends, is an amazing ticket. That would be damn near perfect. Forty-two
-
Correct. The move after the election (assuming it does) would not be about Bush. It wouldn't matter. He would be president anyways. The move would be about strengthening the Republican party gearing up for the 08 elections. Giuliani would be a stronger opponent if he was the VP heading into 08. Clinton facing Giuliani would be her worst nightmare. Obviously it's way to early to speculate but I feel she wouldn't match up well. Forty-two

There has been much talk and speculation about Rudy Giuliani replacing Cheney as VP. I feel that will not happen for this election, however, I do think there is a possibility that Cheney will step down shortly after Bush wins this upcoming election (assuming he does). That would put Giuliani as a strong candidate to challenge Hilary in 08. Even if Cheney doesn't step down after this election, Giuliani could still run on his own in 08. It just would be better for him to do it as a VP. Forty-two

What were all the peanut inventions??
tunaplanet replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in Speakers Corner
Wow. First the Spiderman rants, not peanuts. You need a hobby real bad. Forty-two -
He will name before the elections. Period. Forty-two

Heh, yes...very morbid and yet oh so funny. Forty-two

Sweet. I always wanted to see where society thinks I should be. Interesting quiz. Here is where it says I am. Economic Left/Right: -3.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.46 So I lean to the left according to the quiz and almost dead center regarding the Libertarian/Authoritarian. So I lean to the left. Fucking scary. Excuse me...I need to go take a bath. I feel dirty. Forty-two

Mike K says no. Looks as if Rudy T will take it now. Forty-two

What do People who OPPOSE Bush think of Edwards VP?
tunaplanet replied to freeflydrew's topic in Speakers Corner
So Quade, what would you suggest to Edwards when he goes toe-to-toe against Cheney if you were his advisor? Love him or hate him, you have to admit Cheney is very intelligent and a great mind...regardless of how you feel about his political views. Forty-two -
All of those are vague topics, but here goes. Gun Control - I would lean fairly heavy towards the NRA's stance instead of the Brady Bill. I do believe everyone has a constitutional right to own weapons. However, I do believe that penalties for abusing your right as a gun owner should be extremely harsh. Abortion Rights - I am Pro Life. Abortion should be illegal with two exceptions...rape and the possibility of the woman dying from the birth. Prayer In School - I believe we should allow the Pledge of Allegiance. Those who do not want to participate should not be forced to. The "One nation under God," phrase is not offensive. Afterall, this country was founded upon a strong relegious tone. God appears on our money and many other items. This is not extreme. As for actual praying in school, fine. Children should be allowed to pray if they wish. No one should be forced to pray. Bilingual/Multicultural Education - Not entirely sure what specific issues you're referring to here. Education Funding - I believe we should invest the max towards our children's education. The first step towards this in my opinion would be to drastically increase the pay of our teachers. With better pay you increase the quality of teachers...you can afford to be choosy and selective unlike now. I would like to see teachers paid 50K+ a year. Their job is too important for their current salaries. Where would we get the money? That's a good question, and one I do not have the answers for. However, I'm sure there are ways to put more money into our schools if we put our heads together. Gay Marraige Rights - I am for it. As much as I dislike the lifestyle, I can't neglect the fact that everyone should have the same rights in this country...gays included. I would even go a step further and allow them to adopt children even though I feel it's a bad idea. School Vouchers - Against it. Those should not reap the benefits of a private school when there's families who work hard to have a comfortable lifestyle and income to send their children to a better school. Besides, if I had it my way the public schools would be a lot better than their current state...so much better there would be no voucher debate. Drilling For Oil In The ANWR - If what I have read is true, I would be against it. What I've read is there is not enough oil in the ANWR to justify drilling. I believe the numbers I read a while back stated something in the neighborhood of .7% (not even one percent) of the world's oil which equated to something along the lines of a 6 month supply. If these numbers are indeed accurate...I say no. Here are some others in case anyone cares. Death Penalty - For it. I will take it a step further. I would also be in favor of killing minors (no younger than 13 or so) and the mentally retarded. 3 strikes you're out - Not sure what th current state is on this experiment but would love to see 3 felonies and it's life in prison. Uniforms in school - Against it. Even though I come from a military background, I oppose this. I feel we need to encourage our children to be individuals. There is a time and place for uniforms. School is not one of them unless it's a private school. So, where do I fall on the political scale? Forty-two

What do People who OPPOSE Bush think of Edwards VP?
tunaplanet replied to freeflydrew's topic in Speakers Corner
Well here's what John Kerry himself said about Edwards... ""In the Senate four years -- and that is the full extent of public life -- no international experience, no military experience.... When I came back from Vietnam in 1969, I don't know if John Edwards was out of diapers then." -John F. Kerry during the Iowa Caucuses on the man he picked for #2 What's that saying about burning bridges? And yes, Cheney will destroy Edwards in a debate. Forty-two -
It would be easier for someone to ask me a list of issues and I would be more than happy to answer them honestly. Hell, I may fall under the "democrat" alignment. Who knows. Forty-two
-
It's very clear who is an extremist and who is not regarding political debates. Simply look at the stance each person takes on issues. He who sides with a republican/democrat on every issue is an extremist. There is no way in hell someone who is in their right mind agrees with a person/party all the time unless they are an extremist sheep. Forty-two
-
Can't with extreme liberals and conservatives roaming everywhere. I would love to see a forum only for the non-extremists. Too bad there's no way to control who would post on that. Forty-two
-
So no one has ever lied or not told the whole story under oath? Wow, thanks for clearing that up for me. I never knew. Maybe Clinton was telling the truth in that case. Thanks for enlightening me. Forty-two
-
Nooooooooooooooooo, surly not!!!!! It's much more fun to laugh and make fun of him Seriously, you are 100% correct. None of us no exactly what was whispered to him. Anyone who makes fun of him or degrades him based upon their speculation of what he was told is way off the deep end and has absolutely no common sense. Maybe it's the military in me, but if I am going to call out my CIC, I want to be damn sure I have all the facts...and in this case it would be wanting to know exactly what he was told. Forty-two
-
Bingo! This is exactly why I refuse to align myself with a party. It's very sad to see people on these boards (and in real life) defend their party's candidate blindly and attack the opposites by nit-picking, twisting facts and out-right lying. Many years from now people will look back at their posts and see how idiotic they were in being so blind and misguided. Use your heads, people. It's refreshing to see someone in a political discussion that is honest and doesn't take sides. Forty-two
-
The key word in your statement is, "I." You felt it was silly. And last I checked, liberals thinking something Bush does is silly is nothing new. It's old and tired. Forty-two
-
Here's a quote. "In the Senate four years -- and that is the full extent of public life -- no international experience, no military experience.... When I came back from Vietnam in 1969, I don't know if John Edwards was out of diapers then." Guess who said that? You got it. John Kerrey. That is what he said about the man he's asking Americans to endorse as VP. Interesting. I actually love Edwards. I would actually think about possibly voting Democrat if it wasn't for Mr. Flip Flop Kerrey. Edwards is a great pick. The ticket needs charisma and personality bad. Watching Kerrey is like watching flies fuck. Edwards brings energy, charisma and honesty to the Democratic ticket. It certainly helps Kerrey greatly. Forty-two
