I'm right there with you on using .22s for practice. While I've never used a .22 AR knock off, I've made it a point to pick up a .22 conversion kit or .22 version of any pistol issued for use in the real world. Running through rounds is a lot less painful, and a coworker doesn't mind bringing his can to the range for practice. (B) When I was law enforcement, I worked a state that forbade public safety unions. Yep, laws against police fire ems and others organizing. (C) I never joined the FOP. (D) The department I worked for didn't treat officers very well, so they were chronically short of officers. They're not going to reduce the number of officers. If anything, they need to increase their staffing at lower levels and remove useless positions in other city departments.
