Hi Phil, Sounds like a plan. Wonder if it will work. Jerry Baumchen -

Hi folks, Reminds me of the Who's On First skit: The Trump administration celebrated, too, and put out a press release to mark its role in helping the state get Ratcliff home. But the release from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services left out one detail: The Trump administration, in its budget request for the next fiscal year, zeroed out the money for the program that helped Ratcliff move. Trump administration hails her release -- as it ends program that got her out : NPR Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, Re: You’ll always be my friend Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis praise one another at Alligator Alcatraz opening Wow; that is on par with, 'I am not a crook.' Any friend of Trumps is only until they say something about Trump that he does not like. Trump is one of the most thin-skinned people I have ever known of. Completely paranoid. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Divalent, That reminds me of a true story. Back in the '60's, a good friend went to a social inter-fraternity party with a fraternity from Oregon Health & Sciences University; our premier medical school here in Oregon. One of the med students told him about what happened in an autopsy class. The class consisted of about 6-7 male students & one female student. They had two cadavers to work on, so the professor assigned the male cadaver to the male students & the female cadaver to the lone female student. After class, the guys decided to have some fun. They removed the penis from the male cadaver & inserted it into the female cadaver. The next day, the female student pulled back the cover of the female cadaver, looked at the situation, and said, 'One of you guys leave too quick?' Jerry Baumchen

Hi John, I do not disagree with you. However, if you consider the labor-hours that it took to plumb a new house in 1950 compared to today, I am very sure that you will easily see that it takes about 25% of the labor-hours to do so. This is because of continuing development of easy to use materials. ABS & PEX come to mind. I own two 2015 cars; one I bought new & the other 7 yrs ago. Except for one needing new rear shocks & the other one needing a brake job, I have only spent money for consumable items in the entire time that I have owned them. Today, due to technology advances, cars are a magnitude more reliable than what my dad drove in 1950. Stick built houses will soon be a relic of the past. There is more & more of a trend/demand to keep the costs of housing down. I think the future will see more of a house built in a factory & then assembled on-site; various floor-plans to choose from. All of these things have resulted in a lesser need for manual labor. As I said: The world does not need the amount of manual labor people that is available. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Joe, Re: if old white men would . . . would just take a hike At my age, I can begin to see the sunset. But, be assured that I am NOT running towards it. Jerry Baumchen PS) Another great post. If only America would listen to it.

Hi Wendy, An interesting read. However, I think it is a little too early to run around hollering that the sky is falling. Trump 2.0 has only been in office for less than six months. Additionally, Trump is not a healthy person; I would not be surprised if he could not finish out his term in office. A LOT depends upon the results of the elections next Nov. If the GOP loses either the House or Senate, things would probably change substantially. As for this from your link: but robots will be the main producers, not working-class men on an assembly line. For many yrs now, I have been saying that every day, all over the world, people are working on developing machinery to replace manual labor. IMO that is not going to stop. The world does not need the amount of manual labor people that is available. IMO this is going to be the real problem in the near future; the next 50 yrs or so. As regards the future of the opposition [ the Democratic Party ], I would refer anyone to the excellent, recent posts of Joe Weber on getting rid of the old guard & installing some true mud-begotten fighters. Thanks for bringing this article to our attention; I have sent it on to my 20-yr old grandson. Jerry Baumchen

Hi John, The Trumpies would have to know some history. Me thinks that is asking too much. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Joe, Well put; I absolutely agree. Thanks for taking the time. And, since we are dreaming: We need to get rid of the Electoral College. That old albatross is holding this country back. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, Re: somebody of fortitude What is your definition of a person like that? I think that these are called follow-on questions. Jerry Baumchen PS) There used to be an old saying about the guy who waited for the perfect car; he walked to his grave.

Hi Keith, I understand it; I just really do not like it. IMO the Supremes are not apolitical any longer. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, Re: the message on here has mostly been Christians are bad I think it comes down to how one defines 'bad.' My personal experience with Christians is that far too many of them [ not all ] are two-faced. Party like all get out Saturday nite but make sure you get to church on time Sunday. I have no time for people like that. For the life of me, I cannot fathom how any Christian can support the most god-less POTUS in my lifetime. My former wife is a perfect example of this. Hi Phil, I find this one the most confusing: allowing President Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship to go into effect in some areas of the country, for now Supreme Court allows Trump to partially enforce birthright citizenship order To me, if you are born here, you are a US citizen or you are not. Allowing it in some areas of the country is just plain nutz. We are damn sure in for a hell of a ride. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, That all depends upon the issue. And, you know that. Jerry Baumchen PS) Local farmers have closed more than a few dz's.

Hi Joe, Some things you never forget: are you going to tell us if SecDef, or anyones superior officer, suggests a prayer meeting come Saturday the invitee's will consider it optional? A number of lifetimes ago, when I was in Basic Training, we had a choice; go to church or police the grounds for butts, etc. A simple decision. It didn't work. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, As is a belief in some fairy tale about a 'God' up in the sky. Jerry Baumchen PS) When it comes to 'hate,' I do not hate anyone. I just really dislike the choices some people make.
