  1. Hi Joe, I'm with you. However, I would also add that they would have to obey any rules 100%, no exceptions; maybe with one pass on any rules violation. Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi folks, Looks like they might not be glad: “So here’s a question,” Flood said in response to the crowd. “Do you think that people who are 28 years old that can work and refuse to work should get free healthcare?” Attendees replied with cheers and shouts of “yes.” Rep. Mike Flood booed over Medicaid cuts during town hall Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi Phil, Re: He believes that everyone will betray him eventually. I think you might be very correct. But then again, why would he not think that when he has betrayed almost everyone he has ever met. I think the ultimate irony would be if Vance and his cabinet invoked the 25th & gave him the boot. If only, Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi Phil, Trump can hire/fire as he chooses. However, history tells us that people vote with their pocketbook. As Bill Clinton said: It's the economy. When there are no jobs, people will vote Trump [ and, hopefully, his supporters in Congress ] out; no matter what he tells them. Only 15 more months to go. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi John, A link with no firewall: Corporation for Public Broadcasting to Shut Down After Trump-Backed Funding Cuts Jerry Baumchen PS) And, let me add: "Despite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans who called, wrote and petitioned Congress to preserve federal funding for CPB, we now face the difficult reality of closing our operations," CPB President and CEO Patricia Harrison said in a statement. Anybody who wrote or called a GOP CongressCritter was wasting their time. It all falls on deaf ears with their fealty to Trump.
  6. Hi folks, If he thinks changing the messenger will change the message, he is delusional: President Trump is firing the commissioner in charge of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which handles the monthly jobs report, after a bad report showing the economy in trouble was released on Friday. Live updates: July jobs report raises concerns over US economy Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi folks, Birds of a feather flock together. Some how, I think he donated more than indicated: Wiederhorn had donated money to Trump and Republican political campaign committees, but the donations amounted to less than $20,000 in 2023 and 2024, according to political finance records. He and his wife appear to have attended a Trump inaugural ball in January Trump admin’s DOJ appointee to drop financial-crime charges against onetime Portland executive - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Bill, I just finished reading this: Original Sin (Tapper and Thompson book) - Wikipedia Is there an opening for Biden there? Jerry Baumchen PS) If you are an American politics junkie, you should give it a look. PPS) And, the cover-up continues: Steve Ricchetti, who was a top adviser to former President Biden and considered to be in his inner circle, said Biden was “fully capable of exercising his presidential duties” Top Biden aide Steve Ricchetti tells GOP panel ex-president was ‘fully capable’
  9. Hi Bill, Me thinks you ask too much. Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi Joe, I am only one of: Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Wendy, Re: Let’s see what good indexing and AI do with it in the future IMO it will only get worse. And, I am an optimist. Jerry Baumchen PS) A few days ago, I was reading a couple of on-line articles about Kohberger. All were 99 44/100% bogus. Everyone seems to want their face in a YouTube video or their name on an article. They seem to clamor for it. A sad commentary on human-kind.
  12. Hi John, Like minds think alike. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi folks, Re: The decision . . . has caused an uproar in the close-knit school community, with the indignation spilling over onto social media. You have to wonder if he supports this: Portland Catholic school revokes admission for same-sex couple’s children Yet, people wonder why I want nothing to do with any religion. Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi Don, I could not agree more. Back in 2016, I said to some friends that anyone who joins the Trump admin would end any hope of a future in politics. That is exactly what happened with Mike Pence. It is going to happen with Rubio, also. And, all of the rest of the MAGA fools. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Joe, Re: You'd think Gabbard would have more integrity than to pander to Trumps desire to deflect from his actual association with Epstein by crafting a nonsense accusation of treason against Obama A lacky is a lacky and will always be one. Jerry Baumchen PS) Integrity? In Trump 2.0; surely, you jest.
  16. Hi Wendy, I could not agree more; we must figure out how to use less of it in the first place. Re: Smaller cars I've been a car guy since I bought my first gas-powered vehicle in the summer of 1954. About 5 yrs ago, I was talking to my long-time auto mechanic just how could these small 4-cylinder engines could put out so much power. He said that advances in fuel injection was the primary reason. My first car was a 1947 Chevy with a 6-cylinder in-line engine - 216 cu inches/3.5l - 90 HP. Toyota's latest in-line 4-cylinder engines - 122 cu inches/2.0l - over 400 HP Toyota's New 2.0-Liter Turbo Engine Makes Big Power It is possible, Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi Phil, IMO data centers are a plague on the states that have them. - They consume a LOT of electricity - They employ few workers - The pay is rather low - They always seem to be built out in fairly remote places where a lot of infrastructure has to be built to accommodate only them. Not much to really offer to taking all of that juice. Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi folks, Is this more Joe 6-Packs with regret: General Motors said Tuesday that President Trump’s tariffs cost the company $1.1 billion in the second quarter, contributing to an overall decline of 35 percent in profit. GM maintains outlook despite $1.1B Q2 tariff impact Jerry Baumchen PS) And more: limit the government’s ability to penalize employers if workers are injured or killed US Labor Department picks more than 60 rules for Trump's deregulation mandate | AP News
  19. Hi folks, There is a whole lot of talk going on about just what our energy future is to look like. Some people want only 'Green' energy. Others want nuclear. I am completely opposed to nuclear because we cannot deal with the waste; and, I do not want to leave it for my grandchildren to deal with. Here is one excellent example supporting my position: WWII atomic waste contaminated a Missouri creek. People nearby had more cancer risk : Shots - Health News : NPR Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi Phil, Trump idolizes power; nothing else to say. Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi Nigel, From your link: Speculation is rife Sorry, just another story by all of the know-nothing talking heads that are out there in cyber space. This type of crap is truly what is wrong with the world right now. * Jerry Baumchen * For some perfect examples of this, watch One Night in Idaho on Amazon Prime. ‘One Night in Idaho: The College Murders’ docuseries explores emotional twists of 2022 tragedy
  22. Hi Joe, Re: It is interesting . . . What is interesting is that no one is born to hate. It is a learned thing. Someone taught Derek to hate whomever he hates. Think, right-wing radio & tv. Then, of course, he goes off the deep end when someone tells his daughter that there are actually lesbians in our world. OMG, the sky is falling. I agree: Fuck him & all who are like him. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Keith, Well, a physical evaluation is an opinion. A death certificate is a fact. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Bill, No tears from me: Where Have All the Flowers Gone? Jerry Baumchen
  25. Hi Keith, After that sham doctor, in 2016, said that Trump was in the best health of anyone he had evaluated, no one should believe anything ANY doctor says about Trump; unless he is issuing a death certificate. Jerry Baumchen
