My dept went to a really excellent Cisco course last year and one of the things the instructor taught us was how to calculate subnets in our heads after just 30-minutes of going over it with us. (really great instructor, btw...) It kinda freaks out the geeks in the other departments when we do it for them because we haven't told them our secret. They just kind of give us that "Rainman" look. That was an excellent ending to one of the best sci-fi series created yet. I'll have to second your vote on John Crichton being one of the greatest sci-fi chracters as well. C'mon....you have to respect a character that can look miffed and embarrassed because he forgot his nuclear weapon in the elevator. The story arc was well done as well, I thought. It was interesting watching the band of strangers become family, but I'm still ticked off that Zhaan left the series. And the women...Claudia Black as Aeryn, Gigi Edgley as Chiana, Virginia Hey....yup, some nice eye-candy as well. When it first came out I almost wrote it off as a Muppets In Space series. I used automotive paint, thinned down a bit, and a Testor's airbrush gun. I was able to lay down a coat that looked good, but still let the carbon fiber weave underneath show through. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Force to deploy reserve, Small girl

A reserve handle can have no more than 22 pounds of pull force. That's per FAA rules. The pin is supposed to be held tight, it's a lot less chance of a premature deployment. But it shouldn't be so much that you can't pull it. There are plenty of small women in skydiving that have used their reserves. What you might try doing, if it worries you that much, is to see if your rigger will let you fire off the reserve (on the ground) on one of the student rigs the next time the reserve is due to be packed. That should give you a much better idea of what's in store for you. In fact, go full tilt with it. Simulate an entire emergency. Throw out the PC, then follow with your full emergency procedures with the rig.
