  1. My question would be how the heck he managed to run up 91K in vet bills.
  2. Usually, when I'm on a commercial plane, I'm thinking "I wish I had my rig." I usually like the aisle seat, but on a flight to Vegas, I had the window. An older gent was sitting next to me, and at about 10K, he asked "Pardon me, but are you a skydiver?" I said yes, and asked him how he knew that, because I wasn't wearing any of my skydive shirts or my pin necklace. He said "You have that nervous look that skydivers get when they get on a plane without a rig... plus, you keep looking out the window, and then at the back of your hand like you want to check your altitude!"
  3. Well, personally, I'd like to keep my privacy AND my gun.
  4. well, I guess the moral of the story is to not go into default on your loans. Deferments are ridiculously easy to get in most cases. As long as you're enrolled in a degree program (ANY degree program), you are usually eligible for deferment. I have a friend who got a PhD, ended up getting laid off, and while she was job hunting, went to a JC for one class a semester, working towards an AA, just to get her loans deferred. She deferred them for two or three years that way, until she was solid in her new job and had enough money to start paying the loans again.
  5. There was a girl my bro went to school with named Rose Bush. But I think the twins named Melody and Harmony were the worst names I've seen. Then again, my childhood dentist was Dr. Payne.
  6. Exactly. A reserve is another canopy (sometimes smaller than the main) that has different flight and flare characteristics because it's built out of a different fabric and is totally rectangular and a 7 cell. Better to learn how to fly it and land it before you HAVE to learn how to fly it and land it, when you might be injured or landing out. You may not have time to practice flaring up high, and you may be landing in less than ideal circumstances (for example, with a dislocated shoulder trying to land in a corn field). There are several places that allow people to demo their reserves for free, with good reason.
  7. I ordered my jumpsuit from Bev, and put a double rush on it. I had it in less than two weeks, and everything was totally perfect.
  8. Find out what kind of reserve is in it, and see if you can demo a reserve that's the same kind and size. Better to make sure you're comfortable with your reserve in a non-emergency situation first, because you don't want to find out that you have trouble with it after you've had a malfunction/injury. Remember, every time you jump there's a chance that you could be landing your reserve instead of your main, so make sure it's a size you're comfortable with.
  9. White topskin, white ribs, any color solid bottom. That way the sun shines through the white top and it and kinda makes the bottom look like it's glowing. You could have stock solid colors in every color you offer, so people can always get something that matches their gear.
  10. Life is a balancing test. You look at your choices and pick the best one you can, the one that will do the most good and the least amount of harm, and the one you can live with.
  11. No, I don't think everything/everyone has a price. There are some things I wouldn't do for any amount of money (kill someone, seriously harm someone, have an abortion if my life wasn't in danger, etc...) and I'm sure others have similar lists. There comes a point where you look at what really matters, and decide that in certain situations, money doesn't matter, no matter how much, because if you do something for money and then can't live with yourself afterwards, what's the point? Edited to add: I remember having a very lively discussion in my college ethics/philosophy of human nature class. It was really fascinating, and everyone had good points, on both sides.
  12. Happy Bunny Spaz Juice and vanilla vodka.
  13. Those would be, um, the fags. No. They tried. They just couldn't convince any of the girls to go out with them. There were some gay guys in the dance classes, but none in beginning ballet.
  14. First off, Jamie Lee Curtis has never confirmed being born intersex. It's an internet rumor that apparently can't be traced back to any reliable source. (snopes). Second, the male cheerleaders/drill team guys at my high school got way more dates than some of the football players. They were gymnasts who joined the squad to meet girls. It worked. Same reason about ten guys ended up in my college ballet class. All but two ended up hooking up with one of the female dancers at some point. You wouldn't want to deny that little kid a great way to meet chicks, would you?
  15. I'm pretty fond of my Winchester Defender.
  16. I'm not a big fan of Kubler, myself. It's ok, but it's fairly bitter compared to some of the others, like Nouvelle Orleans. I end up using a lot more sugar in Kubler than the others.
  17. Ever had a really good absinthe prepared properly (cold water, sugar cube, no fire)? Good absinthe is one of the best alcohols I've ever tried. Not at all bitter, with very delicate herbal flavors. Course, good absinthe is usually $100+ per bottle, and unfortunately, a lot of the bad (czech, usually) stuff costs about the same.
  18. I think the US car companies need to work on their reputations for performance and reliability. The trend I've noticed here (LA area) is that when people want a performance car, they buy a German one (Porche, BMW) and when they want something cheap and reliable, they get a Honda, because US cars aren't really known for either their performance or their reliability. They don't seem to have a really strong selling point beyond "made in America" which, while important, doesn't outweigh the reliability factor for many people. Personally, I will never buy another Ford (unless it's a 65 mustang, which I will make an exception for simply because classic mustangs are cool). I've had nothing but trouble with my Escort, and I take good care of my car (oil changes on time, etc). Also, after driving other cars, the fords seem a bit under-braked to me. They don't seem to stop as quickly as some of the other cars I've driven.
  19. Yep, you're right. Found the official rules. "Miss (drag) candidates must model female attire and MsTer (drag) candidates must model male attire."
  20. I was thinking it was referring to master, because they have a separate title for "Ms" and "Miss". I was guessing that Mr. is the counterpart to Ms., and Mster the counterpart to Miss. No way to know for sure, without emailing them and asking.
  21. Making a guess since I haven't been able to visit the site, given the context, it looks like they're using Mster as an abbreviation of "Master," which is a formal address for a boy age 13 or younger. It's out of date (the only people I've ever seen actually use it is my grandmother and Miss Manners), but they may be using it to indicate the age of the person being addressed. Rare to see it abbreviated like that, though. Now, "MSTer" usually has something to do with MST3K.
  22. If he's not in jail and hasn't been convicted, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be able to play. The guy deserves his day in court, if it gets that far, and we should refrain judgment until then, because there's no way to know what really happened.
