    Pace to jump?

Classic! keep em coming. 1 day I'll upload some photo's of all the local objects in my area, if that isnt breaking policy. well as long as I dont say where they are i think it'll be allowed.
  5. Damn, I had the same thing last evening. Fell on my back doing a back sommersault. Hurted like hell, I could feel my skin burn and could barely move (I call it a wonder I got myself out of the water). My back still hurts, X-rays of back and lungs look fine though. Hopefully it will just be the pain and no permenant damage I learned my lesson. I'm going to take a trainer next time, whatever he (or she ) asks of money. Hopefully I still have the courage to jump dam man how high was the platfor/board you jumped from ? try and stick below 100 feet lol

    Stupid Base

Hi jasmin I'd love any spare base footage (especially areials) you have and are willing to copy to dvd or tape, im in australia and will cover all postage costs and cost of the tape/dvd and throw in some cash for gratuities. if ya feel like being super generous pm me. if ya can put online the d00d going over the cliff on the push bike doing the accidental front flip. also the 1 where his chutes only starting to open and he lands (or atleast thats how it looks)
  7. hi jasmin who is it in the stoopid base vid that jumps off the patronas (spelling) tower platform bit and does a double front flip, twists into a back flip then twists into a front flip then deploys ? who is that d00d is wearing a red helmet , the pants are familiar

    base parents?

If I ever take up drugs, like real hard drugs, I want the same as Lonnie is useing, must be some good she-at. your details say you have over 2000 jumps now surely you know some skydivers or know of some who died. how many do you know died driving to the dropzone everytime I've heard the "ya more likely to die driving there" BS on here I've asked "does any1 here know of any1 who has died driving to the dropzone?." I'm yet to know of a person here who has. go into the incidents forum, and read how many of thel ast hundred deaths were by a person driving to the dropzone. if you think driving a car is more dangerous then BASE jumping your on some dam good smack, you should go into business selling these drugs you won't get done for it, because any cop that arrests ya will simply see how it makes you and want to try some. I'm guessing your a parent who wants to take up BASE or is thinking of having kids and taking up BASE or somthing. Nick your the man of knowledge how many BASE jumpers have died driving to a site ? I know of 1 who fell off a cliff but has any1 died driving there ?
  9. basejump.org the 2001 video "fist full of f111" and 2002 vid "a few jumps morE" have some cool footage of dwain, 2003 id assume would as it has some of his memorial, so would most likely contain his jumps.
  10. My name Borat, in my country I am greatest BASE jumper (but my mother she never love me). I like Sex!!. hahah has borat made it big in the USA yet ? and just to keep this thread on topic, did this guy get tar poored on him and feathers thrown on or is an an expression of speach thingy.
  11. Hi can some1 briefly explain this.

    New fashion :)))

I love this thread, I'm a big fan of helmets in almost any sport. I've cracked quite a few mountain bikeing when I was in my teens. 1 I even cracked just sitting on my bike, was chatting, wasnt even rideing it lol , got off balance, slipped was in awkward position and couldnt put my hands out and my head hit the ground, cracked my helmet but I was fine (minor head ache) even if your only jumping a bridge, its quite possible you could come in for a safe landing and slip over and hit ya head on a rock, with a helmet you might get a head ache, without one you might spill some of ya brains. helmets in all sports are seen differently by different people, I personally think they look cool, I love in the jeb video "a year in the life" (on skydiving movies.com) how he has that helment, looks awesome and his really good, shows he isnt to good for a helmet, kind of like tony hawk, you see all these kids jumping around with no helmet then hawk comes out, twice as good and has a helmet, cos odd's are his experienced hitting his head (or helmet) on the ground quite a few times. when I seen slims tribute video "A base life" (not sure of the exact way to say this so dont read it wrong.) I was quite happy to see he wore a helmet in his final jump, as at the time of his last jump it was in the papers that he was in a coma, and I remember thinking to my self "I wonder if he was wearing a helmet" cos if he wasnt and was in a coma, it would have been worse to know that maybe if he had a helmet he might be still alive. but now knowing he had a helmet it showed nothing could really be done to have prevented his death. for jumpers that don't wear a helmet what is your reasoning behind this ? I don't ask in a negative way, I ask it as a friendly question as I'm curious, everyone has a personal reason for there actions. how about some photo's of peoples body armour (wearing it of cos)

    BASE RIG

dam thats low, had anyone warned him ? also was it a static line jump ? did his g/f hold it for him ? or did he just jump throw and get line stretch at 103 feet ? he'd need a good pack and a big PC for that wouldnt he ? has this guy jumped since ? edited to say that I just re-read ya post and read "he chose to freefall " and who or what is "spence"

    BASE RIG

when you've done quite a few skydives people will advise ya to do a lot of practice launches from pools and stuff, even though I have no experience in this field I believe this animated gif shows a good starting point, as you'll see he don't jump from to great a height but never gets the slightest bit head down, he gets pretty good body position for the whole free fall. http://img197.exs.cx/img197/5932/penginslap5mi.gif http://img197.exs.cx/img197/5932/penginslap5mi.gif

    BASE RIG

maybe this guy was serious, you must realise people will see BASE on tv and think "I might get some gear and try that, it looks pretty easy, I've jumped off the shed roof into the pool before, cant be much different" so don't go to hard on him, as for saying "read blink" he might not have ever heard of that. but yeah a little research wouldnt have hurt, he should give Tom's article a read. did this really ever happen ? edit for site name ~TA
  18. W0w I just read your site, Very cool. get well s00n
  19. yeah but the arnt like a couple of thousend feet up, with a rock wall behind them and have to deploy there chute in time to live, its the xtreme factor more so then just a human body flipping around. Speaking of dwain footage I love his double front flip with a twist followed by a back flip then 1 second canopy ride off the bridge on the 2002 ABA video, atleast I assume its dwain, there is no close up camera view, but as far as the hair and the skill goes Ill assume its him. in that jump his chute sure did take quite a while to deploy, he was still flipping backwards as it was trying to inflate, I just love how it inflates then goes splash right at the edge of the river thats stuff ya cant get at a Pool. so there is no 1 person who contiually appears in the top 3 at competitions ?
  20. haha nah I just wanted a name so I know who's videos to look for. or atleast if there isnt a universally recognised best, in whats peoples own oppinions on who is the best ?
  21. who is currently the best at ariels ? I know "the best" is somthing usually not like to be used on here but some1 has to be seen as the best of the best, so who currently is ?
  22. that would be to easy, do ya think using a pulley would look as cool as using ya belt
  23. You could probably go head-first into one from about 10' max. Ring around any major aquatic centre where they do dive-training and ask. If you find somewhere with one of those "pendulator" thingies Tom talks about then no doubt they'd have a foam-pool as well. They are great for practicing running exits, or doing minor aerobatics off a small platform (like a gym horse) or trampoline. They are similar in concept to those rooms full of plastic balls that parents love to huck their little kids into and watchem dissapear. I don't have a pic on-hand but will see if I can get one. TVPB & Dwain can be seen training in one on the old BASE vid - Beyond Extreme. As for the clapped out ABA balloon - exits were usually from 400' to 800'. One day I put a sling over the rope when it was at about a 70degree angle and attempted a rope-slide down it - but the sling broke from friction as soon as I got up some speed. Fun though - I was always thinking to myself "OK - mustn't get tempted to ride it all the way down..... gotta let go before 200'..." g. Awesome , first time I seen the rope attached to the baloon I thought of that, you could try whack a Ubolt over the rope and have a handle made out of rope or what ever attached, and slide down (providing the steel U bolt will slide along the rope) that way the bolt wont break and it can easily be removed later on, and it wont have any sharp edges. let me know if ya ever try it
  24. yes that website rocks, maybe the d00d who runs it, could burn all the vids onto dvd and sell them to recoup the bandwidth cost, I'd buy a copy for sure, I'm currently on dial up
  25. hahahaha, thats nicks fault, I was certain it was Dwain, I wrote my message then looked at nicks and thought "oh wait its dwayne, I've been spelling it wrong all along, Nick would know for sure how its spelt" so edited my message before posting. so lets just blame my spello on Nicks Braino speaking of the hot air baloon, how high do they jump from off that usually ? I've got the 2002ABA video where they jump from it and its tied to the ground and was curious as to how high it was. as for a foam pool, its just big foam blocks, they would want to be pretty darn soft if your to land on your head, as to not break ya neck. Super bubbly water would be best. or just wear a shitload of clothes off the high diver I lived right near a pool with dive board when I was young, I seen some kids do some front flips, so I started doing them , was doing them all the time, then 1 day I stuffed up and landed on me back, was a big SLAP!!!, the whole place heard it, hurt a little. then after that I could never do a flip lol. I tried but I just couldn't, I'd jump and start to flip forward then at the last minute pull out of it was 1 of those things where ya brain says "I dont think so , remember last time." although now that im 22 I'd give it a crack, but problem is the pool is now a park
