If the pilot can bring the wingsuit to close to 90 degrees it would slow his forward speed down and for a very short time it would also slow his vertical descent. It could be enough that if the pilot was equipped with a pair of special roller skates or in-line skates he cold just touch down. You know what I find odd. That the ship said they thought it was an F14. F14 are fighter jets not bombers. Also the admiral took close to 2 min. to make a decision and they are trained to make decisions in 30 sec. I think he knew what he was doing.
