  7. Why do people go to the emergency room? Because of EMTALA, which was passed in 1986. I wrote about it here: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/supreme-court-justices-challenge-obama-administration-over-health-170042500.html Basically, the reason why the need for socialized healthcare exists, says the Solicitor General, is because too many people are getting a free ride. Of course, this free ride has only existed for 25 years! Congress mandated that ERs treat everyone without regard to ability to pay. Therefore, people go into ERs for free care. The government's solution is not to repeal EMTALA. The government's solution is to force all people to buy a private product. the road to socialized healthcare is paved with creating lousy policies that the government must then fix. I've perused quite a few amicus briefs and EMTALA isn't even mentioned. I'm wondering if I'm the only person thinking of this. Right, what we need is Boehnercare: "Can't pay, then go away and die". Ah yes, the old Lib attack. You assume that if I don't have insurance I am powerless to do anything about that. FAIL Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  13. I'm a product of the age of 3.2 beer. We called it 'red pop' because the cans and bottles had red writing to identify them. I say 18, if you're old enough to vote, carry a rifle, and go to war you should be able to drink shitty low alcohol beer. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  14. Not so fast. Barry won the last cycle because all he had to worry about was the hopety-changey thing. Dem college grads ate it up. And he couldn't have had a more ripe time than the end of W's term. This time he's got a tail. He's got some explaining to do. One thing's for sure...the fun's just gettin' started. 16. All the anti-death penalty liberals here seem to think that a 1,000 guilty murderers should go free in order to save one innocent man on death row. And the ironic thing is, those are the same people who are here calling the shooter a murderer, without even having any facts yet for a basis upon which to do that. It's funny how that double standard works: Death row murderers = Innocent, Gun owner = Guilty. Murder is murder. Demonstrations have started. This is going to build and build (especially reading the comments here defending the killer) and merge with the Occupy movement. The racists have shot themselves in the foot. How re-assuring it is to know you've gotten all the facts and have been interviewing everyone involved so you can leap over the investigation and reach your conclusion. Please don't dent the planet. 25. Soviet AF Capt Yevgeny Andreev set the FAI OFFICIAL record. Kittinger set the unofficial absolute altitude record for exiting a flying machine, and he wasn't doing it as a stunt. He risked his life to test survival systems, working for Col John Paul Stapp MD at the Hollomon Aeromedical Research Center at Hollomon AFB, NM. In May 1966, Nick Piantanida would have broken the record but he couldn't separate from his capsule's life-support line and had to land with the gondola. As it was, he set a new manned altitude balloon record of 23 miles, which also stands to this day. Baumgartner will at least match Piantanida's altitude record, but he will definitely break the free-fall record. Baumgartner also has Col Joe on his staff. I have every confidence that he's going to make it. mh . If I'm not mistaken Piantanida died in a later attempt. No one knows why exactly how he lost suit pressure right about the altitude Baumgartner achieved yesterday. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
