  1. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. Good luck to you. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  2. Nothing in the world could do that. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  3. The use of the term in a professional setting bears no similarity to the use to which you objected. Being 'validated' ('Validation' is a legally defined process, and I recognize that you are using an entirely different definition here) by members of this forum et al. is logically irrelevant - Argumentum ad Populum and all that. You may be correct regarding what you claim to know, but said claims, at least as stated, are subject to equally valid refutation. The fact that you are not alone is equally irrelevant. Again, if it makes you happy, that's great. I would counsel any newcomer to The Rooms 'to thine own self be true,' however that shapes up. It is only when you go from 'I believe this' to 'this is true' that your claims are subject to review. A statement of belief (or doubt) is merely a statement of fact, a claim of veracity on any subject may be evaluated on its merits. If you believe in Ra and build pyramids, all I can say is "nice pyramids, dude." If you build pyramids and use their existance to claim the existance of Ra, we're off to the races. BSBD, Winsor Do you realize that you have been trying to belittle me and my faith for over ten years. It goes back to the rec.skydiving days. I never met a Jewish person that did not make me think and you are in the top one or two. You have strengthened my walk with the Lord and I thank you for it. As the Scripture goes, Satan may have meant for bad but God used it for good. I am just a speck of dust on the road. Now and again I get in your eye and it stimulates you. 4. In my case faith is based on first experience. Things happen when you humble yourself at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  5. You are absolutely correct. However, I am not delusional. I know what the term means in a professional setting. I have been validated by several in this forum, by many in my social world and by my entire family. I know Whose I am and where I am going. I am not alone. 6. I don't think he was trying to diagnose you. When most people use the word "delusional," they are using the dictionary definition, not the DSM-IV criteria. And I think the dictionary definition worked just fine for what he was trying to say, even if it wasn't a very nice thing to say. I suppose you think I should just forget my formal education and life experience and just roll over. I am not willing to do that. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 7. I am not trying to diagnose anyone. I am not operating in the professional capacity to do so. Although, at one time I did pysch assessments for psychiatric admissions. However, previously a novice tried to diagnose me as delusional. He has no knowledge of the proper application of the term. Anyway, if a person is annoyed they usually exclaim their feelings and move on. When someone stands on that annoyance to the extent of trying to gain power and control over another person's beliefs another hidden agenda is suspect. 8. Again I ask, what do you fear? How is what I fear relevant? I certainly don't fear threats from brainwashed people's imaginary gods...I guess I fear the normal things everyone does...canopy collisions, herpes, brain eating amoebas, etc... real things. See SkyDekker's post #570. It seems to be a power and control issue with you. What is your fear with faith? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 9. OK. The cybernetic message I am perceiving is that you are dealing with power and control issues. Y'know, of all the obnoxious, asshole like behaviour on this site, pretending to use you counselling experience to diagnose people over the internet just comes across as being the most obnoxious from the biggest asshole. JMO. There, don't you feel better using words you are more familiar with instead of professional jargon you know little about? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 10. Every $0.01 that goes to organized religion is $0.01 that could have gone into something productive for society. In a very real sense we all pay the cost. I just returned from Peru. In Cusco alone there is a cathedral with $millions worth of gold and silver in its various chapels, in a city that has hundreds of thousands of people living in grinding poverty. A short trip through the Vatican will show the plunder that organized religion has taken from society. I asked the question on a personal micro level and you responded on a social macro level. However, I agree with you to some extent. Many churches hoard money for reasons unclear and/or illegal as well as providing honest charitable contributions to society. I think every Christian should perform due diligence when making donations or contributions. Yesterday I attended a local church and donated $5.00 in the collection plate. On the way out I ordered $25.00 worth of survival bracelets from a member who makes and sells them to raise money for his grandson's ministry. I need to know where the money is going. 11. It's kinda like Hip Hop. It makes sense if you live in that frame of reference. My three granddaughters understand it and like it, to some degree. I can't even understand the words. 12. Start taxing churches. that's a good action - a church is a business, it provides a service and should be taxed. that's easy. In FL services are not taxable. 14. And that is the main point, those of us interested in a spiritual life do not use rationality to get there. We are sensitive to the awareness of it. After living a committed spiritual life, we acquire empirical evidence which provides the data for a spiritual rationality. All any of us spiritual types can do is share. If the recipient is not sensitive to spiritual understanding it cannot be helped. By engaging in these forums we strengthen our understanding, comfort and peace of mind. 16. It appears you fear a loss of something personal. Has the loss already occurred? Or, do you anticipate a future loss? Like I said you are reading way too much into this. It's very simple. No evidence to support the supernatural claims so I don't believe it. OK. I am trying to understand you as a person. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 25. Right on chain of responses there Brother. I particularly liked that "sinking my teeth in a juicy heathen" remark. LOL In reference to your statement regarding the platform of SC, I keep data on the posts I originate. I track the number of lurkers. There are many folks interested in what we have to say that do not respond. This is a missionary ministry. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit.
