Has anyone done a bunch of their own tiling? I'm getting a remodel of our master bath done and the tiling quotes are absolutely killing my budget. Tilers are looking for nearly $10k just for the install for a 250sqft area. I was thinking that if I get my GC to do the subfloor and waterproofing I might be able to do the shower and wall tiling myself. Anyone have any experience or advice with tiling?

No worries. I'm as frustrated as you about the desire for action but the lack of effort to do anything - even to have a reasonable dialogue. FWIW I received a nice letter back from senator Feinstein (or more likely one of her clerks!) thanking me for my suggestion and asking for some more thoughts on how I'd approach the issues with it that I noted. And if you do really believe this, then your knowledge of what really is going on has to be put into question. If someone can get access to your guns without the use of serious cutting equipment and a lot of time then you're part of the problem. The best solution I've heard is something I heard on here - a cavity behind drywall that only you know is there. Keep the guns you practice with locked up at a firing range and keep your home defense solution behind a bit of drywall that you need to knock through to access. Nobody knows it's there, and because you have to damage your wall to get at it you're less likely to play around with it when you're drunk, but it's also extremely accessible.
