    tiling a bathroom

That's what I budgeted for. These guys are looking for about $35/sq ft which just seems ridiculous. Hell - I could FLY one of the tile guys from your area out here and pay them $10/sq ft and still come in cheaper than San Diego rates!

    tiling a bathroom

Thanks all. Appreciate the advice! I think I'll ask the GC to do the prep work to make sure the walls and floor are flat enough then do the tiling myself.

I wish. Half of that area is floor to ceiling walls.

    tiling a bathroom

Has anyone done a bunch of their own tiling? I'm getting a remodel of our master bath done and the tiling quotes are absolutely killing my budget. Tilers are looking for nearly $10k just for the install for a 250sqft area. I was thinking that if I get my GC to do the subfloor and waterproofing I might be able to do the shower and wall tiling myself. Anyone have any experience or advice with tiling?

    Russiagate

edited to not reply to the troll It really has to suck for you that you can't rebut on substance. Please. I've taken you to pieces in rebuttal so many times that it's embarrassing. I'll be honest though. It's not that difficult to do.

  9. No worries. I'm as frustrated as you about the desire for action but the lack of effort to do anything - even to have a reasonable dialogue. FWIW I received a nice letter back from senator Feinstein (or more likely one of her clerks!) thanking me for my suggestion and asking for some more thoughts on how I'd approach the issues with it that I noted. That's currently a work in progress.
  10. Because you probably haven't sorted through any of the proposed solutions thread and developed your own thoughts to EXPRESS to your congressional & senatorial representatives. You can think really hard, or holler BAN BAN BAN, or hug a tree and feel all warm and fuzzy inside, or take action. Read the thread again. I've suggested a couple of solutions. And I have written to my senators and will continue to do so - again, as I've mentioned in this thread previously.
  11. I don't understand it. Since the last time I've been thinking REALLY HARD about this not happening again. Why isn't it working?

    Tariffs

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-44582481 "Based on the Tariffs and Trade Barriers long placed on the U.S. and it great companies and workers by the European Union, if these Tariffs and Barriers are not soon broken down and removed, we will be placing a 20% Tariff on all of their cars coming into the U.S. Build them here!" Take away the tarrifs on my stuff that you raised in retribution to ones I introduced initially, or I'll levy more on yours... He's a spoiled, petulant child.
  13. Somehow, I don't think I'm going to like what my retirement account does tomorrow. I was just thinking that. Invest in Russia. I hear that's what all the smart people do. The best people.
  14. I'm not sure about the license thing. Technically you're absolutely correct, but the reality is that we ask people to prove their capability despite having a valid license if they've been out of the sport for a while before they get in the air on their own... That implies that a licence does indeed have an expiration or can be revoked if capability can't be shown, doesn't it?

That Left Wing Radical, Paul Ryan must be cahoots with Nancy Pelosi now. He says the FBI acted correctly. He’s a RINO. Can’t trust him!
  17. Regardless of the bullshit fake news I think the Supreme Court got this one right. If I own a business I get to choose who I serve. It might be bad practice, or me being an asshole, but so be it. The government doesn't have a remit to stop that.
  18. So in the news today is Giuliani saying that Kim Jong Un 'begged on his hands and knees' to resume talks. Anyone want to be that the talks will be called off again because Giuliani can't keep his mouth shut? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44390112

    Tariffs

Trade war with China. Check. Trade war with Canada. Check. And let’s add Europe to that list with a 25% tariff on importing steel and aluminum which potentially puts upto 470,000 US jobs at risk. http://tradepartnership.com/reports/the-estimated-impacts-of-tariffs-on-steel-and-aluminum-2018/ Such a cunning plan! The man’s a dealing genius!

  21. It's so sad to see you say something like this Bll! Even if you meant it tongue-in-cheek. And if you do really believe this, then your knowledge of what really is going on has to be put into question. Bob_Church just said "I can drive to any one of three or four friend's homes and pick up a couple of guns in less than half an hour." That's a direct quote... The inability (or in your case IIRC outright refusal) to secure your guns properly is a huge part of the problem. If I could trust everyone to ALWAYS secure their guns then I wouldn't be such an advocate of restrictions on what you can legally own, but since people can't manage themselves then it's up to the government to do it for them... If someone can get access to your guns without the use of serious cutting equipment and a lot of time then you're part of the problem. The best solution I've heard is something I heard on here - a cavity behind drywall that only you know is there. Keep the guns you practice with locked up at a firing range and keep your home defense solution behind a bit of drywall that you need to knock through to access. Nobody knows it's there, and because you have to damage your wall to get at it you're less likely to play around with it when you're drunk, but it's also extremely accessible. I thought it was a genius idea.
  22. No, they offer a 10% discount to veterans every single day (I use it any time I want). Only active duty or disabled not regular veterans. What do you want instead? If you chose to join the military why do you deserve discounts and free rides frequently? I thought you were against socialism? I don't think you know how special active and retired military are treated in the US compared to just about every other country. I continually hear on the radio that that things like home and auto insurance and lines of credit have discounts to veterans. That doesn't happen anywhere else. Maybe you should give thanks a bit more? Regardless, you dodged the point of my initial post which was that Trump made Memorial day all about HIM. Then again, you just insinuated that a discount from a major store on memorial day isn't enough, so maybe you can be just as crass... Do you expect everything to be free for you on that day?
  23. I kinda agree with you on this one, Ron - at least as far as how you celebrate the day. Using it as advertising or to aggrandize yoyrself is pretty distasteful though IMO. It’s one of the few days in our calandar that is definitely NOT about you unless you served. I’m surprized that you, as a veteran, don’t see that.
  24. Benjamin Disraeli sounds right. I was simply using a different statistic than the one in which GUNS killed more Americans than did the ENEMY! It's more of a 'so what, Americans killed more of the ENEMY than Americans died at the hands of the ENEMY and GUNS put together.' I am, in fact, a lot more concerned with OUR death toll than I am with THEIRS. I also don't blame gasoline for arson or knives for stabbings. I guess that puts me in the minority here. Got it. I don't see a lot of hope. How anyone can miss the damage that our constant connectivity in the form of phones and social media are doing shows just how much damage they're doing. Kids are killing themselves and others over facebook postings, many adults cannot, not will not, cannot, put the phone down any moment they're awake. Cell phone holders probably sounded like a great investment not all that long ago but they didn't realize that so many people would just never put them down but walk around with it in one hand, angled so they don't miss anything that might come in. The last time I drove through Chicago I went through a construction site and saw grown men running grinding wheels with one hand while holding the phone to their ear with the other. And at work, watching janitors trying to run a buffer with one hand while using the other hand, again, to hold the phone up to their head for their non-stop "whuut, nothin'', how about you? Whuut, nothin." We are deeply screwed up and won't do anything about it because it might put limitations on something we enjoy. Guns don't kill people, social media does! Got it. I'll add it to the list.

I thought there wasn't any interference? Or was it that the interference didn't matter so shouldn't be investigated? Now he's saying it should have been? Well that's good I guess, because it is being.
