I saw some video over the weekend of a foreign (I think Germany???) newscast showing a big-way naked dive. Over and over, and in slow motion, they showed video of a man with his tallywhacker slapping back and forth (I've heard it called the bellybutton to butthole trick!!) flapping in the wind. Then it flashed to the newscaster who had a stuffed elephant shaking it up and down so its trunk was flapping like the man. I was absolutely *ucking cracking up!!!!!!! But a question...isn't it painful???!!!! Head

Hey Froggie, don't be discouraged! You're right...each jump is a learning experience so don't be too bummed. Sounds like you did a great job with the winds and learned some more about canopy control. Hang in there! Head

Diva, Girl you are exactly right. Those bitches are just jealous. Go on with your tight bodied self and have that damn peanut butter cup. You deserve it! And you're right about them never knowing the thrill of the life we live. Kind of sad actually! I don't really have a bitch for the day though kids. I get to go home for good tomorrow after spending every other 6 weeks away from home for the last year. My 1-year old marriage will be like new!! I guess the only bitch I could possibly have is that my life-sucking, totally dependent whuffo friends have made comments to me like "Thank God you'll be home and available again." Fuc* that word available send shivers down my spine. But I'll be glad to be home anyway. Ya'll hang in there and have a good rest of the week. Almost the weekend and off to our magical lives at the dz! Head

They say those batteries are "no memory" or whatever little term they have for saying their lifetime doesn't decrease, but that's bullshit! I'm on my second one for my pc-10! Head

Camera helmets related to deaths? PC110 and helmet
Head replied to shotat's topic in Photography and Video
Shotat, I've been doing video for over 3 years now, all with a sidemounted camera and eventually I added a top-mounted 35mm still camera. Not once (knock on wood) in those years have I had a riser catch my cameras. I feel that opening is the key here and that involves many elements. One is, I feel, the type of main you jump and how you pack it. I jumped a 120 for the first year and a 105 ever since (I'm a 135 lb. female). My packing and openings are extremely consistent. Stability on opening is another, rather obvious factor. I've also learned how to manuever my head for opening. However, even in the presence of proper performance of all of these elements, and as we all know with skydiving in general, shit can happen. But experience has led me to where I am. My advice is to talk to as many cameramen/women that you can get your hands on and ask them similar questions. Feel free to ask me any other questions that I haven't answered and I'll try to do so! We actually build our own tubes at our dz. My hubbie and I made the first one ever out there. We found some ripstop material at a fabric store and modeled it after ones we had seen before. We used pvc pipe (carefully molded) for the base and came up with a release system very similar to that on a skysurfing board. We typically cut them away at about 4500', track and pull. Some have pulled with them and that depends on their comfort level. And yes we leave the plane with them "rolled" up and inflate them as soon as we clear the tail. Our next project will be handhelds! Hey mountainman, How about a "love palace"? A nice big bed in a bedroom with a mirrored ceiling!! After all, what could better top off a great day of skydiving with a hot romp in bed with your spouse/significant other/love slave???!!! Head

Wesley, Hey man, congratulations! Welcome to the sport! Don't worry, finals aren't too far off and there are plenty of warm, sunny days to come! Head

There is a brewery in Wichita that makes the most incredible wheat beer. For crying out loud, I live in Kansas, a state full of wheat! We should be good at making wheat beer! When I'm not at the brewery, it's Budweiser. Well shit, now that I think of it, I like almost all of it! Rolling Rock, Boulevard, Shiner Bock, many others and I also like a good glass of red wine on occasion. Head

Pyke, I doubt that you'll find Quincy in the dz listings. There is only jumping at that airport (that I know of) once a year during the World Freefall Convention. Also, it is in Illinois and is not a very big town. Your best bet would be to look it up on a geographical map website. The convention is held at the airport in Quincy at the end of the summer each year. Does anybody else know of any listings in dz listings? Head

Hey Skybytch, Thanks! And sorry about the jury duty. That sucks ass! Hang in there! Head

Who knows fruce? I'd like to think so. I've dipped into the swoop pond a couple of times, but nothing too spectacular. I'll keep working on it!
-
Hell yeah girl!! I'm with ya! Head

I just looked at fruce's webpage pics of canopy pilots. BTW, fruce, kickass website! Got a question for you kiddies...do you know any female extreme canopy pilots? I'm the only chick at my dz that can keep up with the boys and I want to hear from some other sister swoopers! Head

It's Head again! Yes, I must agree. Sangiro runs one hell of a website here! And if I'm ever in NC I'll look you up! HEAD

Hey, All very true statements and I'd rather be jumping myself. But God knows I ignore my family for jumping enough during the rest of the year and especially the jump season! So I'm doing the good girl thing and seeing my family. Head

Hey Scot, Welcome! The bit I have to add to this is only what I know of Hawaii skydiving. I've been to Skydive Hawaii, which is on the North Shore of Oahu. The people are wonderful, the scenery cannot be matched and it's an all-around fun place. My recommendation to folks is that they do a tandem first unless they are sure that they want to get into the sport long-term. It'll give you an idea of what the sport is all about. You can find links to websites here, or I would also recommend checking out the United States Parachute Association's website (can't remember the address off the top of my head so you'll have to do a search) and they should have dropzone listings. Whatever you do, have fun and you and your wife enjoy Hawaii! Head

Hey Josh, Dutchboy is right about the packing thing. Also, now don't think I'm crazy here, but have you ever considered donating plasma? I ask first of all because I am in the medical field and a FIRM believer in donations of all types. And what better way could you make some money for jumps AND help out people that really need it? Just a thought... Head
-
Josh, I hate to be the "me too" gal here but I second everything that everyone else has said. Good job on tearing it up. Fuc* them and don't EVER let them get you like that again! Head

Hey Barrett, The cranium size is normal! My hubbie gave me that nickname because he thought it was so damn funny on the movie (at least that's what he told our mothers!!!). And fruce, I'm glad you enjoy my mail!! Head

Hey Carrie, What team do you coach? I used to coach the Wichita Aquashocks in Wichita, KS. Is it a USA team? And thanks for the welcome on the thread I posted! Head

By George cyberskydive's got it! That's where the nick is from. Name that movie...anyone, anyone? You kids are TOO DAMN FUNNY!!!! Between skreamer, fruce and zennie I was laughing uncontrollably for the first 3 minutes of logging on tonight. By the way, Austin, I'm from Wichita. And Josh, thanks for such a warm welcome. You all are awesome and it's great to be here! I suspect there will be quite a bit of shit about the nick for a while, and I look forward to your comments!! Lastly, skreamer, I got my braces off when I was 16! Lovingly, Head Edited by Head on 4/10/01 07:30 PM.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Ok, I shouldn't laugh because they crashed and didn't make it and that blows. But damn the luck!

Hey kids! I could be wrong, but it seems that I'm noticing a trend here. Is it customary to read threads for a while before you start posting? I've just basically jumped in "Head" first! So if I've broken some unspoken rule forgive me. Let me tell you about me...I'm from Kansas (yes, we actually have dz's there and we get to them in actual cars, not horse & buggy!!!), I'm in the medical field and I am a videographer. There we go. That should clear up any confusion! Head
