  1. Nice Pics!!! Umm, who is the naked guy on the pyrimd! Damn I was drunk, there are a few "penis" shots ... i never SAW penis! I missed that!!! hmm.. you were at the boogie and you didn't see penis? There must have been booze involved, cause there was lots of it from what I remember.. Chopchop looks like he's going to attack Naked AJ for climbing on his back .. naked.. Nice pics though Seakev!! Thanks for posting them
  2. I hardly ever look at my alti in freefall when I am videoing tandems. if I do, I bring my hand in front of me enough to be able to glance at it without having to move my head. That's why I have 2 altis in my helmet too.. So there is less to worry about. Iwan
  3. Ah.. now I am starting to figure out why you say the things you do....
  4. Byron..(Bay Area Skydiving) is on top of the list! But.. Davis and Lodi are cool too, still .. I would go to Byron. Iwan
  5. Getting fud up at your house? How come we didnt get invited? Friday night.. hmm.. convince me
  6. Nah.. but I just missed my CA friends Deuce, so I figured partying at the nuthouse with them would be cool.. My parents are cool, they let me go out sometimes too (as some people have experienced last Saturday.. ) Iwan
  7. Anybody up for some serious partying at the nuthouse tomorrow night? I know people are travelling down south for Chicks Rock on Friday, so it would be a nice pre-boogie party to "get in the mood" so to say! Of course, if you're not going to Chicks Rock, even more reason to come to the nuthouse.... Iwan
  8. They were of Mar, and I *think* an 80mm. Deuce uses a 100mm for those, a VERY nice lens. I used it a bit on the ground before and took it up for a skydive once. The results are VERY nice (as we've all seen from his pics) 500mm for ground shots seems very long, I generally use my 28-200 lens for ground shots, and the majority of the pics are taken between 80-100mm I can't see much use for a 500mm unless the landing area is huge and you only want portrait shots from people under canopy or something. Which 500mm did you buy? Iwan Iwan
  9. Filming inside with low light conditions. I don't necessarily need to light up the whole place, but I don't like the "circle effect" you get for example with night vision. Iwan
  10. I am looking into buying a video light for my camera. Mostly for ground stuff in low light conditions. What are your experiences with the lights that you used or heard people talk about? I am planning on using it on my TRV17 cameras. Iwan
  11. BUMP!! Is there any more information on this yet? I would be interested in some fun in Mexico! Iwan
  12. Damn Pop.. I already regretted not beeing able to be there.. Now I really am bummed that I couldn't make it.. It looks like you partied in style though! ha ha.. cool pics.. Iwan

    YAY!

Yieha.. glad to hear JP! About frikkin' time too huh? It's no fun when things are not going well Iwan
  14. I think I wrote it up wrong. What I meant with this: "The video concession owner at my dz (Byron) is VERY picky as to how the video should look and it is very challenging to get him what he likes, the right angle, the right shots e.a. " Is that those are some shots that have to be in the video, it doesnt mean we have to sit still in front of them, at the given angle, it just means that somewhere in the video, that angle has to be there for a couple of seconds. Happy practicing! Iwan
  15. It all depends on what you want to spend, you already told us that you are not going to jump it for a while, but you're interested just because of photography right? What do you want to spend? Both the Digital Rebel, 10D and the 20D are VERY good cameras, and if I had to buy a camera now I would go for the 20D (I have the digital Rebel right now) Reasons? 5fps for 23 shots on the 20D This makes the camera available almost like a fast film camera, which is what frustrates me sometimes on the Digital Rebel. Just after a burst you can fire the trigger, but you can't be sure you got that shot, with the 20D, you have it, since the buffer is so huge. This is not only true in freefall photography, but in all photography. So.. just make up your own mind, and figure out how much you want to spend, but the Canon EOS series would be the only choice I would give you if you want to get into freefall photography later. Iwan
  16. Here's some pics of my setup with the flash. I use the 550EX, it's set up in a bracket that ChopChop built for me after we sat down a couple of times, trying to figure out what would work best. For now, this is doing the trick for me! Iwan
  17. I agree with you that it is not a problem, I just think it shouldn't be done on a first attempt to video a tandem. A lot of people laugh about filming tandems, and I partially agree with most of the jokes about how easy it is. The thing with filming tandems though is that it is VERY different from other kind of filming, and you are flying in close proximity of two people, of which only 1 knows what's going on. If something funny happens on a normal skydive (you fall on top of the formation or whatever) these things are recoverable, and you are not immediately putting lives at risk (although you could) with a tandem if something funky happens and you take out the tandem instructor or somehow hit the drogue.. whatever.. think of anything, you are endangering not only your life, also the TI and the passenger's life. On top of that, there is a difference in tandem videos, there are different standards at different places. The video concession owner at my dz (Byron) is VERY picky as to how the video should look and it is very challenging to get him what he likes, the right angle, the right shots e.a. Keep flying, keep practicing, and above all BE SAFE, you're not alone up there. Sorry for the rant here, but comments like "every muppet can film a tandem" set me off.. Yes they can, but not every muppet can deliver a tandem video that's worth the customer's money. Iwan
  18. It's experience, your lens is fine you just need to find out waht the right spot is to look at and how close you need to be, this will be the same with a ring sight. I am flying with a .5 and even with that lens I had to work my way into the right spot, and then you move closer to fill the frame Beeing low on the tandem is where you want to be, slightly low in front of them, there's no need to be filming the "backpack", at least that is what I think.. flying level with them doesn't make for very good video. Just keep practicing, and be safe, you're pretty current but still a bit low on jump numbers. I am surprised they let you go out with tandems, at my dz the rules were clear... at least 300 jumps and 50+ on your camerasuit before you're allowed to fly with the tandems. Keep practicing, and just a small piece of advice... don't touch the instructor for at least another 50-100 tandem vids.. Iwan
  19. Sorry Pop, I wish I knew this before I booked my flight.. I can't make it, I really would have liked to be there. You guys have a good time, and have some old style Hollister party that night! I know you're in charge of the BBQ so that should be good to start with And for that Jackass in the neighbourhood... keep the trampolines away from that guy...
  20. :0:0 Nothing this weekend... hmm.. that might actually be a first this year, but I bought enough beer already. Had to do a bunch of "relative work" this weekend in Amsterdam, so no jumping, maybe next weekend I'll get a jump in. Iwan
  21. No jumping for me not tomorrow, not next week relative work here family birthdays, visits and other good stuff.. jumping in two weeks.
  22. Live from Amsterdam, I start Friday Haiku here Since it's past midnight
  23. You can't really go wrong with the TRV9 camera, and the hawkeye helmet is a very nice helmet. The problem with the camera is, how long has it been used for skydiving? If you add up the numbers: TRV9 (new prolly 800 bucks) Hawkeye (250 new?) I have no idea what the Lazer sight is, but say that's 50 bucks. So if you add up the numbers, you are getting a brand new Hawkeye, with an older camera, and a camera suit (count 300 bucks for that at least) So, 250 for the helmet, 300 for the suit, you end up paying 200 for the camera.. That sounds like a good deal, if everything is as good as it is described. Ask how many jumps are on the camera, since that is a good indicator for wear and tear on it... As an indicator, I picked up a used (but in new condition) TRV17 from eBay for 325 the other day... guaranteed no jumps on that one. Iwan
  24. Come back dammit!!! Aren't I worth it? you know the answer to that question, but I can't make it untill about 8pm on Sunday at the earliest.. I am here for my dad's b-day.. and i can't miss that party.. I'm sowry babe.. but I think I might know something to make it up to you ha ha..
