I prefer top mounts too, but I disagree with your statement about parallax. I've never even set up (or used) a side mount in my life. But the basic idea is still the same... aim your sight at something a mile away, and the 9 inches your cameras are apart won't matter. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Don't have to rent an apartment... can rent a nice house too! In our recent rental search we passed up a 2500sqft house in a gated community asking $1300/month rental (or $370k sale). Kinda funny how out of whack those two numbers are. We didn't want to rent that place because it's just way too much for 2 people. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

A depression is a real possibility though certainly not a certainty. I certainly think it is more likely than not, but you can never be sure about these things. Many area of Europe are further out of whack than we are and the bubble keeps getting bigger. But look at Japan. Still incredibly expensive to live there, but they have experienced a FIFTEEN YEAR DECLINE. Folks, it can happen, even to "US". I wonder if 6 months into their decline, everyone was applauding that it was "over" and prices would begin going back up. Prices may be the lowest they've been in two years right now, but they're still the highest they've ever been, otherwise! Remember, in down times, CASH IS KING. Get out of debt and get cash in your hands now. Another good site is thehousingbubbleblog.com. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

No, the US is experiencing the BEGINNING of a housing price SLIDE. This will take years to level off, and for those of you who think prices are turning around any day now, consider this. 1. From 2001 to 2006 property values in many areas DOUBLED. This is not healthy. It is out of line with the average incomes, and out of line with what it has been historically for 200 years (inflation adjusted). So why, after 6 months of tiny drops (10-20%), do people assume the downturn is all over? Prices are still WAY out of whack, even if they happen to be slightly less than they were in February of this year. 2. Inventory is still at an all time high. And I mean all time. Why on earth would prices start to go up again when the over supply is still growing? They won't go up until there is a shortage, which isn't happening anytime soon. The most basic rule of economics still applies to plots of dirt and boxes of wood. Check back on this thread in 2012.

That's like asking if a six foot tall man can fit into blue pants. It doesn't matter how tall he is, or what color the pants are... if his waist is 32" and the pants are 32", they will fit. It doesn't matter that the camera is a PC1000, and it doesn't matter what the FOV of the lens is... if the thread size on the lens is not the same as the thread size on the camera, you will need a converter ring. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'll bet it doesn't seem that $illy to Canon. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

1) Exit weight at 220, means you should probably have dacron line. Hmm, that's odd, I don't personally consider 220 to be that high of an exit weight. I'm a skinny guy (160lbs) but after rig, clothes, shoes, wingsuit, and a 10 lb helmet my exit weight is 200. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Same here, 500 on my old Spectre and 200 on my new Pilot. The Spectre opened: snivel, snivel, pop! The Pilot opens: snivel, snivel, "hey where did that fully open canopy come from?" www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Spot, try HERE. Much bigger community (and Canon oriented), I bet they have answer.

I'm wearing a lot of weight on my head these days and was considering Dacron lines for my Pilot. Aerodyne warned me that this would "greatly reduce the opening speed of my canopy," and for that reason they don't do this normally but would do it for me specially as long as I am aware of what I'm getting into. Now granted the Pilot is already a slow opening canopy, but so is the Spectre... and many well-known photographers using Dacron lines with their Spectres... so I thought, "why not my Pilot?" I'm not sure if there's any reason I know why the "slow-down effect" would be more pronounced on a Pilot than a Spectre, when switching to Dacron lines. So I guess I wanted to hear first hand from anybody who has jumped this combo. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

But, but... I'm ahead of the curve! I can shoot manual focus NOW! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

No side mount here.

You've said that top mount isn't "efficient" (twice) or "ideal" for freeflying... but I'm still not sure I understand why. What is the actual reason? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Fisheye? I still like the non-distortion of my 10-22mm.
-
I'm not sure that makes any sense. I've seen tons of PC1000 footage and tons of HC3 footage and there's no comparison, even when both are played on standard def sets. The HC3 is crisper and more colorful. Maybe they just watched the HC3 footage letterboxed on a small TV and lost a lot of detail that way? I think I may also disagree with your statement that video doesn't carry the same weight/quality relationship that still photography does. Better cameras are bigger and heavier, for sure. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

He did.. ~Jeff 22mm is still pretty wide. Using 22mm to shoot a landing does not mean the person wasn't accurate... it just means you don't have to be in their face, and you get a narrower FOV in your photo, which IMO looks better on landing shots. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Here's a nice shot Scotty Burns took of me flying my new CCM. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Yeh, turns out I had it in my phone all along Travis, I was just too lazy to check. It's on his webpage too.

Stating opinions becomes much more time consuming if you must proceed each one with "it's my opinion that..." www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

Every single photo on my website after November 2006 was taken with Canon 10-22mm on 350D. Also go to www.photozone.de and read lens reviews, complex tests, and see sample pics there. Unfortunately they do not test the Sigma 15mm. The Canon 10-22mm is a very unique lens in that it has very little distortion across the entire zoom range. Most other zoom wide angles either have distortion at one end or the other. A 10mm focal length with no fisheye effect is really cool, I think. Unless of course, you want fisheye. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
