HOOKTURNERS OF THE NATION
Sung to the tune of: POD Youth of a Nation
Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would’ve known
Cause I didn’t kiss my mama goodbye
I didn’t tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank the swoopers for all the talks
And all the wisdom they shared
But, who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
When I pulled a front riser right down to my chest
Unaware, I just did what I always do
Some dude yelled Hey! Whatcha got?!, so I setup to swoop
Call me blind but I didn't see the trouble
Everybody was running
Now I’m in ICU, droolin and blowin bubbles
Except wind blasts, it happened so fast
Next thing I knew, both femers had snapped
Guess I should have paid attention
When that instructor was chewing my ass
Maybe this kid was just wanting to hook
He heard it’s not the turn
But how cool you look
Or maybe he just wanted to make Parachutist’s backcover
Whatever it was
He almost put himself 6 foot under
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
Little Johnny, he acted like he was twelve
Found a rig for sale
It was his opportunity to excel
Bought a new canopy from cool air sports
Now he drools all day on the front porch
Hang with the swoopers and hear the stories they tell
He acted all star struck
But he just screwed himself
We tried to tell him, better watch how you fly
Deer in the headlights
Now he’s fighting for his life
He tried to find respect in all the wrong places
The same DZ swoopers
The same ol’e faces
Increased his pace since he lost the credit card
Now he needs an escort just to walk the yard
Too bad we have to tell him
He will never get better
Johnny always played the fool
He tried to swoop
So you would think he was cool
He always wanted to be one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
He never thought of it as suicide
It’s kind of hard when you ain’t got no skills
He tried that swoop over and over again
In the end he almost got killed
You cross the line and there’s no turning back
When that canopy just won’t plane out
He hit so hard it sounded like he frapped
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
Who’s to blame for the lives that hook turns claim
No matter what you say
The cool swoopers hide their face and just shy away
It don’t take away the pain
When everyone hugs and cries
When it’s time for the blame
The swoopers believe in the lies
It’s the blind leading the blind
I guess that’s the way the story goes
Soon the FAA will get involved
Then we all will pay through the nose
There’s got to be more to life than this
There’s got to be more than hooking
I thought exists
Guess I just started hookin too low
Perhaps it was the toggle I forgot to unstow
Or maybe I just wanted to look cool
Guess I shoulda taken that canopy skool
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
We are, We are, the hookturners of the nation
