  1. Just give them a fake phone number. I would guess that they already have your address. $200 for 90 minutes = $133 an hour. $200 for 120 minutes = $100 an hour. Even at 2 hours is still way the hell more than i make when I goto work. Sounds like anything else. Just going to work to pay for a trip ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 2. Yes quite. As for using your CC at the DZ in the "debit" mode. You should keep in mind that many banks charge a usage fee for using the debit side of your card. This is one of the big things the place I worked for made money on. Its clearly stated in some pamphlet that they gave to all new card holders, but no one ever reads it. So people would complain about the usage fees and we wouldn't do much other than to say use the Credit side of it. If you have to punch your pin your running the risk of paying an out of network transaction fee. The best way to save the DZ money or save yourself money is to hit a ATM that is affiliated with your bank before you get to the DZ. My DZ offers no cash discount but its something that they were thinking about doing because the cost of CC transactions is crazy. Though I have made a good 100 purchases on my card for under 5 dollars at random stores throughout the midwest. They have to hate that. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 5. I think it happend for me a few times. I didn't look at it as a bad thing though. I took the time to get to know more people on the DZ and talk with other experienced jumpers who had also choosen to/were forced to stay on the ground and learn something. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Laptop PC?

Almost all my computer time is on my laptop. I have had it for almost 5 years now. Its only a 500 MHz but it rocks (thinkpad) Only time I ever use my desktop is to burn CDs and to play games. If I had a brand new laptop I might not even have to go to it then. I still think that overall desktops are more powerfull but its hard to tell any difference. Just make sure if you get one to get one that has a keyboard you like. So many laptops have shit keyboards. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 11. Honestly this is something that a lot of people are having problems with legaly in court right now. I am working as a sys admin in a law firm and where I am it is blatenly clear that we are reserving the right to monitor any and all activities on our network. You can't log into our domain without agreeing with the policy. If you don't want to be recorded then you can't log in, etc. It all comes down to a reasonable expectation of privacy. If the boss is recording the persons email on their lunch break to thier boyfriend things end up on shaky ground if there isn't a specific policy against it etc. I know that for me, as a sys admin, if a supervisor wants to look at someones mailbox I get it in writing so its not my ass on the line. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 12. I can agree with you from a basic standpoint regarding a few of your arguments. Being a skydiver in and of itself most likely doesn't pre-determine you to be more frisky or whatever. I don't think thats the underlying argument of the article (and the research behind it.) The argument is that there are genetic pre-dispositions to certain activities. The fact is that chemical changes or differences cause people to have different behaviors. I don't think its far fetched to think that what is being said in this article has quite a bit of truth behind it. This isn't the first place or time that I have heard that argument. There has been quite a bit of research on high risk takers. I just read a 25 page article that was published in a scholarly journal about the consumption of high risk activities with a focus on the skydiving sub culture. I don't see how you can state that we are "just like everyone else" and then turn around and say that we do thinks most other people wouldn't. That in itself makes us differnt than most people. The last article I read made some very interesting comparisons between skydiving and other risk based activities and looked at the psychological reasons and progressions of skydivers from novice to experienced. Either way, I think that the thread starter was trying to ask a "fun" question and everyone jumped on him for it. I think that some of the culture of skydivers and dropzones promotes permiscous behavior which coupled with a genetic predisposition that _some_ people who skydive might have would lead to skydivers having a higher sex drive. (or whatever you want to call it) Its not specifically the act of skydiving that causes it but rather the emotional and mental responses involved with skydiving and its sub culture. /rant off ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 21. Cool story, it would be great to get to jump in such a cool place. I will chalk it up to being at a DZ other than your home DZ, but I don't think its cool that they wouldn't brief you on the uppers, spot, jump run. I think thats a mistake. Even if your not good at spoting you should be learning. I might not have many jumps (78) but I do have a decent idea how to spot, I always ask what the uppers are, and what jump run we are flying. How else can i learn anything? /sigh Glad you had fun
