Same with wisconsin The weather forcast changes faster than you can refresh the page sometimes. Hot days, cooler nights, rain & some humidity to go along with the rain should be expected. Up north of the state line we have had a cooler beginning of summer and I find that leads to a hotter august. I would say that is a matter of opinion, but you are right about the thighs, face, forehead, forearm, feet, chin, chest, toes, knees, and any other part of your yoga ass that can keep it together while you get it in the bag technique. It just gets easier as you pack it more, if its to hard to do now w/ the amount of packing experience that you have, get a packer to pack it for the first 20-30 jumps. D'oh! IIS, mayday, mayday... Nah you can do the same thing with apache. I run like 5 websites with my linux box and they all resolve to the same IP. Also, just by looking, if he trys to access the site using its public IP its not going to work, I think its a Virtually hosted site. do an nslookup on the site from the inside if that doesn't yield the IP address for the site then you are having a DNS problem. I have to agree with you on a bit of that. All to often it would seem that people take the argument to the personal level. I read the SC forum because it amuses me and I like to keep abreast on what people are arguing about these days. I, for the record am a middle ground person with sways in both directions depending on the issue, don't like to get overly involved in the arguments because thats what they are. One of the problems is that people are all to often put in a position where they either don't want to or don't think they can come to a conclusion that something they belive may not be perfect. Its hard to admit that you were wrong (regardless of what side of the fence you sit on.) Rather than accept that your view was misconstrued or whatever it is often easier to just go on the offensive and attack a persons choice of words, parts of thier argument (rather than the spirit of it) or the person themseleves. Be this because of a lack of time or desire to do a little research to back up a viewpoint or because the person is feeling threatened it doesn't actually provide a constructive environment for debate on an actual topic. Don't get me wrong there is a time and place to just watch people argue about stuff w/ complete faith in thier point of view, it just gets a little old if there isn't some serious discussion thrown in with some actuall facts used to back up some of the argument. I would prefer the place with more average people... The majority of my jumps are out of a otter/caravan/king air... but... I have quite a few hop'n'pops from our 182. Its been out of commision for a week or 2 because of some engine work (something about heat treating) and pretty much everyone misses the thing. On really busy days you can get an extra jump inbetween caravan loads, on slow days you can jump with only 3 in the plane. I have some clue how to spot too. (Imagine that) A 4-way comes off of a 182 suprisingly well. Our 182 can hit 10k as fast as our caravan so... We have done formation loads with the two of them from 12k (182 gets a few min head start) just for fun. No, he was jumping a throwout, which is not the same thing as a pullout. Anyways... Sure, it was a slip in thinking. 1. Your alive... yay for that. 2. I have seen someone who was switching from rip-cord to throwout cut away because they forgot to let go. Basic flow is... Wave.. Pull (hold it because you think its a ripcord)... count... figure your having a high speed mal... reach for cutaway... Then you either realize its a throwout let go and end up on a main or cutaway anyways because you don't realize you let go of the PC and end up pulling your reserve. Don't feel bad your not the only one who has done it. (As I witnessed) My first jump on a throwout after being on ripcord (never dropped one) I waited about 4 seconds wondering wtf was up before I remembered to let go. Thats why the instructors around me have people pulling high on the first jump after the switch. Like dave said, its bad to switch back and forth because it's easy to forget what your jumping. I would have a problem with it. The truth does come out in the end and his methods would be exposed and this would lead to more people thinking that skydivers are bad, crazy, whatever it is people think of us. If he did it in a way that was not misrepresentful of the truth then I wouldn't have a problem with it but I think thats the point of this thread. Very good point. Much of this comes from the beliefs that people have which revolved out of religious stuff way back when. The sad thing is that the people who made up these rules were escaping from rules imposed upon them.
